Chapter 31 Giving Dad a Fright (shuhaige.net)

“Peiyu, someone is watching you from upstairs.” Wang Boyang noticed the gaze from upstairs.

Upon hearing this, Li Peiyu looked up and met Lu Yuzhi's death stare.

Lu Yuzhi's intimidating gaze was fixed on her, making her feel uneasy and causing fine beads of sweat to involuntarily appear on her forehead.

Li Peiyu hurriedly pushed the milk tea in her hand to Wang Boyang, and said somewhat flusteredly, "Thank you, Wang Boyang. I... I have to go back to the ward right away. You... you should go back to school too."

After saying that, without waiting for Wang Boyang to react, Li Peiyu rushed out in a panic, leaving Wang Boyang standing there blankly, still holding the cup of milk tea that had been pushed towards him, his eyes full of astonishment and confusion.

Li Peiyu hurriedly ran back to the ward, making quite a commotion, which immediately woke up Gu Yan, who was taking a nap.

Gu Yan, still sleepy-eyed and slightly annoyed, asked, "Where did you go?"

Li Peiyu replied somewhat guiltily, "Just strolling around."

Gu Yan frowned and said irritably, "Aren't you afraid of getting heatstroke going out for a stroll under this blazing sun?"

Li Peiyu lay back on the hospital bed, wondering what she was feeling guilty about. She just drank milk tea, what did it have to do with him, Lu Yuzhi? Was it any of her business?

Not long after, the nurse gently pushed open the ward door and smiled at Li Peiyu, saying, "Ms. Li, you can be discharged today."

"Huh?" Gu Yan blurted out, his face full of surprise, "Didn't you say we had to stay for two weeks?"

The nurse quickly explained, "It was Mr. Lu who specifically instructed that you be discharged immediately."

"My dad said that? I'll go ask him." Gu Yan said as he prepared to get up.

Li Peiyu quickly stopped him, saying in a slightly faster tone, "Don't ask anymore. I was almost ready to be discharged anyway. I'm going crazy in the hospital. It's the same to rest back in the dorm." Li Peiyu knew perfectly well what had angered Lu Yuzhi.

"Alright, let's discharge him then." Gu Yan didn't insist after hearing Li Peiyu's words.

There's not much to pack; you can just change back into the clothes you wore when you arrived and then leave.

However, the nurse then said, "Ms. Li, could you please pay your medical bill? The bill has already been printed for you; you can just scan this QR code."

"What? I have to pay to be hospitalized in my own hospital?" Gu Yan's eyes widened, his face filled with disbelief.

The nurse replied earnestly, "Mr. Lu specifically instructed that since you fainted at the hotel, the main responsibility lies with you. The hotel is only responsible for 20% of the responsibility, so you will have to pay 80% of the medical expenses."

Upon hearing this, Li Peiyu was completely stunned, secretly thinking to herself that Lu Yuzhi's revenge was indeed swift and ruthless.

Li Peiyu took out her phone to scan the QR code and pay; she had enough money for that small amount.

This put Gu Yan in an extremely awkward position. Being asked to pay the bills at his own family's hospital, a place he was close to, made him feel humiliated. Furthermore, as a young master from a wealthy family, it was truly shameful that he couldn't even handle this situation and was kicked out of the hospital.

When Li Peiyu escorted them back to their dormitory, everyone was surprised.

Guo Jiahe asked in confusion, "Peiyu, you were still in the hospital this morning, and you're discharged in no time?"

This question made Gu Yan lose even more face; he had no say in his own hospital.

Gu Yan turned left as soon as he left the house and called his father to question him, "Dad, wasn't I supposed to stay for two weeks? Why did you suddenly kick me out of the hospital? Did you even consider my feelings? Where do I put my face now?"

Lu Yuzhi slammed down the phone in annoyance. He was always watching over Li Peiyu, yet she managed to run off to meet with a young man. What a useless person.

Gu Yan was furious. He wanted revenge and he wanted to fight the old capitalists to the end.

After more than ten days of peaceful coexistence, Gu Yan sent a message to his father: Dad, are you still going to celebrate your birthday with me this year? After all, you already have an aunt.

Lu Yuzhi: It's over.

Gu Yan: What a pity.

In reality, he was secretly gloating, wanting to take this opportunity to get revenge on his good father.

Gu Yan: Then let's stay home.

Then Gu Yan posted on the campus website: My dad's birthday is coming up, how can I give him a surprise?

The comments section was five stories high.

Gu Yan chose to do the most ruthless and awkward thing!

When it comes to pranks, Gu Yan's three roommates don't need any mobilization; they volunteer to join the fight.

Of course, Li Peiyu had to be brought along to watch this moment of venting her anger, so that she could see Gu Yan's status at home.

As Lu Yuzhi stepped out of the Lu Group building, he was showered with countless fireworks, his head and body covered in colorful ribbons.

Just as Lu Yuzhi was about to lash out, he saw several young men dressed in brightly colored floral shirts and pants, with white towels wrapped around their heads and waist drums hanging from their waists. They were happily dancing the Yangko and rhythmically beating the drums.

As they pounded away, they shouted at the top of their lungs, "President Lu, President Lu, so handsome, number one in the industry, surrounded by beauties!"

After the drumming finished, one of the young men who had been playing the drums stepped forward confidently and announced in his slightly accented, uniquely charming voice, "Next, please enjoy the poetry recitation brought to you by Young Master Gu—'My Good Father'."

Gu Yan walked steadily forward, holding the microphone firmly, his expression extremely solemn and serious, and began his impassioned speech:

Today is my father's 40th birthday, and I specially wrote a poem for him to express my gratitude for his upbringing.
