Chapter 65 Sending the Lamb into the Tiger's Mouth

Hearing the commotion outside, the people inside all came out.

Seeing Li Peiyu sitting on the steps, Wang Boyang quickly pushed Gu Yan aside, rushed forward to check on Li Peiyu's condition, and turned to scold Gu Yan harshly, "Didn't you know your own strength? How could you be so reckless!"

"I'll take you to see a doctor," Wang Boyang said anxiously.

"I'll carry you on my back," Gu Yan quickly squatted down.

"No, I don't want you to carry me." Li Peiyu stubbornly turned her head away, her eyes full of resistance.

Wang Boyang said, "I'll carry you on my back."

"Mm." Li Peiyu nodded gently.

Wang Boyang carefully carried Li Peiyu downstairs.

Gu Yan followed closely behind, his face full of grievance; she didn't want him to carry her.

Fortunately, Gu Yan drove, so they arrived at the hospital quickly.

After the doctor's examination, it was confirmed that he had sprained his Achilles tendon and needed to rest for a few days, and could not walk around anymore.

It was almost dark when I left the hospital.

"Come to my place," Gu Yan said to Li Peiyu sincerely. "The apartment only has three rooms, not enough room for you."

Upon hearing this, Wang Boyang froze. Go to Gu Yan's house? Wouldn't that be handing Li Peiyu over to Gu Yan's father?

Wang Boyang was about to refuse on Li Peiyu's behalf, but unexpectedly Li Peiyu spoke first.

"Okay," Li Peiyu replied casually, her voice flat and devoid of any emotion.

Wang Boyang looked up at Li Peiyu on his back, only to find that Li Peiyu's eyes were darting away, and he dared not meet his gaze.

While Gu Yan went to get the car, Wang Boyang lowered his voice and asked, "You and his dad, you're not back together again, are you?"

"Mmm," Li Peiyu responded softly, her voice so low it was almost inaudible.

"Li Peiyu, a good horse doesn't turn back to eat the grass it already grazed. Be more careful," Wang Boyang said with a look of exasperation, his brows furrowed.

Li Peiyu remained silent and did not dare to speak.

Just then, Gu Yan's car came to a steady stop in front of them. Wang Boyang said, "Sigh, I suddenly feel sorry for Gu Yan. He's so pitiful, like a fool."

Gu Yan got out of the car and opened the back door. Wang Boyang looked at Gu Yan with deep pity. "Gu Yan, are you sure you want to take Li Peiyu home?"

"Of course," Gu Yan answered without hesitation, his tone firm.

"Gu Yan, a brain is a good thing, I hope you have one too. Be careful in everything you do," Wang Boyang couldn't help but remind him.

"Are you sick?" Gu Yan replied impatiently, his face full of confusion and annoyance.

Wang Boyang wasn't angry. He thought Gu Yan was also a pitiful person, so what was wrong with giving him some leeway?

Li Peiyu, however, looked ashamed.

But the guilt was quickly swept away.

Returning to her familiar three-story villa, Li Peiyu was incredibly excited. She wondered if Lu Yuzhi would be overjoyed to see her when he came home.

Gu Yan originally wanted Li Peiyu to stay on the first floor, but Li Peiyu said without hesitation, "I want to stay upstairs."

“Peiyu, it would be better if you stayed on the first floor, so it would be easier for you to move around,” Gu Yan said gently.

“The view from the third floor is great, and 3, 3 is my lucky number,” Li Peiyu said, blinking her big eyes.

"Really?" Gu Yan looked at her with suspicion.

“Yes.” Li Peiyu’s eyes were firm, and her face showed stubbornness.

Gu Yan had no choice but to find a guest room on the third floor for Li Peiyu to lie on. He busied himself preparing food and drinks for her, and thoughtfully propped up her pillows so she could lie more comfortably. He also reminded Li Peiyu of various precautions, making sure she applied the medicine on time.

Li Peiyu waved Gu Yan away impatiently, saying loudly, "I'm going to sleep. Get out and don't disturb my sleep."

With eyes full of reluctance, Gu Yan turned back every few steps, slowly leaving with a heavy heart.

After Gu Yan left, Li Peiyu took out her phone from beside her pillow and called her mother, "Mom, I twisted my ankle and can't come back for the time being."

A mother's anxious voice came from the other end of the phone: "What? Is it serious?"

"Mom, it's not serious, it's just a sprain, I'll be fine after a few days of rest," Li Peiyu quickly reassured her mother.

"Your brother and I will go take care of you," the mother said anxiously.

"No need, no need, my roommate will take care of me," Li Peiyu quickly refused.

"That's good. Things have been quite busy at home these past few days, with the renovation of the villa and the restaurant arrangements. Your brother and I won't be able to come over. Take care of yourself." Mom's voice was full of concern.

"Hmm, Mom, are you short of money for the restaurant business?" Li Peiyu asked with concern.

"We don't need it, we don't need it. You should save your money and not always think about giving it to the family. You've already helped the family so much. Your parents will take care of the rest themselves," Mom said gently.

"Mom, you're so good to me." Li Peiyu's voice was choked with emotion.

"Am I not your mother? How could I not be good to you?" Looking at the large table of dishes she had prepared, the mother suppressed her disappointment at her children not being able to come home for a family reunion, and continued, "Didn't you give your brother 500,000 yuan to buy a car? Your brother and sister-in-law were reluctant to spend the money, so they bought a 100,000 yuan one. The remaining 400,000 yuan was used to invest in a small restaurant for our family. Don't worry about the money."

"Mmm." Li Peiyu's eyes welled up with tears, her heart filled with emotion. This mother was so good. And so were her father and brother. She was so lucky.

Not long after hanging up the phone with her mother, Li Peiyu had a wicked idea. She hopped on one foot, trying to jump from her room into Lu Yu's room, then crawl into his bed and wait for him to come home from get off work to give him a big surprise.

She was panting heavily from jumping, and just as she was halfway through, Gu Yan's voice suddenly rang out, "What are you doing?"

Gu Yan was about to go to sleep downstairs when he heard a series of thumping sounds coming from upstairs, so he got up to check out out of curiosity.
