Chapter 69 Gift

Just as the two were still immersed in their conversation, Li Peiyu's phone, which was lying to the side, suddenly rang, ringing incessantly as if urgently urging them to stop.

Li Peiyu reached for her phone and looked closely; the caller ID showed it was Tian Yuan.

It was already past eleven o'clock, and it was really strange that Tianyuan would call her at this time.

"Peiyu, Peiyu." Tianyuan's voice came from the other end of the phone, and you could clearly feel that her voice was trembling, and even a little frightened.

"What's wrong, Tian Yuan?" Li Peiyu asked, full of doubt.

"Do you remember the last time you transferred 100,000 to me?" Tian Yuan's voice was weak, with a sob in it.

“Mhm,” Li Peiyu replied.

"I... I might not be able to pay it back." Tian Yuan's voice grew increasingly dejected.

“I never intended for you to pay me back!” Li Peiyu said without hesitation.

"Thank you." Tian Yuan's voice was noticeably more relaxed.

"You called me in the middle of the night just to say this?" Li Peiyu was somewhat puzzled.

“Mm,” Tian Yuan replied.

"Is there nothing else?" Li Peiyu pressed.

"That's all, you should go to sleep early." After saying that, Tian Yuan hurriedly hung up the phone.

Li Peiyu gripped her phone tightly, her face full of confusion. She had a vague feeling that something was amiss, but her thoughts were in turmoil, and she couldn't figure out what was wrong. Lost in thought, her mind seemed to drift into a fog, and she drifted off to sleep without realizing it.

Zhou Ying suddenly discovered that Tian Yuan had an extra 100,000 yuan in her bank account. He was furious and full of suspicion, thinking that she was shamelessly being a mistress or had become a prostitute. He was agitated and questioned Tian Yuan repeatedly, but she insisted that the money came from her roommate.

"What? Your roommate gave you 100,000? Huh?" Zhou Ying's eyes widened in anger, his voice almost roaring.

"She gave it to me out of kindness when she heard my mother was hospitalized," Tian Yuan tried to explain.

"Lying? Even if we're close, a thousand or two thousand is more than enough. Would you really give me a hundred thousand? Tell me the truth!" Zhou Ying was furious and lost his temper, punching and kicking Tian Yuan.

At first, Tian Yuan was still stubborn, but Zhou Ying's beating became increasingly fierce and too severe. Tian Yuan could no longer bear it and began to beg for mercy, "I called her, I called her, I didn't lie."

Tian Yuan, battered and bruised, knelt weakly on the ground, her hand, which had just hung up the phone, falling limply to her side, tears streaming down her face as she sobbed uncontrollably.

Zhou Ying hugged her tightly from behind, full of remorse, and kept apologizing, "I'm sorry, baby, I'm sorry, I misunderstood you. Hit me, hit me to vent your anger, okay?"

Tian Yuan closed her eyes in pain. She and Zhou Ying had been together since their senior year of high school, for four years. During those four years, Zhou Ying had treated her quite well, and she thought he was a good support. But she never expected that he would hit her over something so trivial.

Zhou Ying kept apologizing, "Baby, I'm sorry, I love you so much." Zhou Ying's hand reached inside Tian Yuan's clothes.

"I don't want to," said Tian Yuandao.

"I miss the baby." Zhou Ying ignored her and carried her into the bedroom.

That night, Zhou Ying not only committed domestic violence against Tian Yuan, but also raped her despite her resistance.

In the morning, a sudden cool sensation on her neck startled Li Peiyu, causing her to open her eyes instantly.

Lu Yuzhi was already dressed neatly and sat elegantly by her bedside, carefully putting an object around her neck.

"What is this?" Li Peiyu quickly reached out and touched it; it turned out to be a necklace.

"A birthday present," Lu Yuzhi said softly.

“My birthday isn’t until the second half of the year, you know that, right?” Li Peiyu said with a hint of reproach.

"I know, but I can't wait until the second half of the year. I want to give it to you now." Lu Yuzhi said affectionately, and then gently kissed her forehead.

Li Peiyu sat up, full of curiosity, and said, "Let me see." She then picked up her phone and took a picture of herself.

I had assumed it would be a luxurious, custom-made, expensive diamond necklace.

Upon closer inspection, however, it turned out to be an ordinary men's necklace, made of silver, without a single diamond set in it.

"It's a little ugly." Li Peiyu pouted slightly.

“This is something I wore when I was young. I designed it myself and had a silversmith make it. It’s a completely handmade piece, and there’s only one of its kind in the world.” Lu Yu’s eyes were full of appreciation.

"You've worn it before? Then I'll reluctantly wear it." Li Peiyu said this, but a happy smile bloomed on her face.

"You have to promise me that you'll never take the necklace off your body again." Lu Yuzhi's tone was slightly solemn.

"Mm." Li Peiyu nodded slightly.

“Although it’s not as valuable as a diamond necklace, the gold content of this is beyond your imagination.” Lu Yu’s gaze was profound.

"Gold content? You're so young and you're already seeing things? This is silver, okay?" Li Peiyu said doubtfully.

“It’s not that valuable. Never mind, I hope you never find out.” Lu Yu sighed softly and gently patted Li Peiyu’s head.

"I'm leaving now, going to work, to earn money for you," Lu Yuzhi said with a smile.

"Mmm." Li Peiyu kept fiddling with the necklace around her neck, her face beaming. "I really like this gift, thank you. And remember to come home early tonight."

"Okay." Lu Yuzhi reached out and gently stroked Li Peiyu's chin, leaving her with a lingering kiss.

After Lu Yuzhi left, Li Peiyu went back to her room to change her clothes and then went downstairs to eat.

Gu Yan was still fast asleep in the room when the elevator installers arrived, waking him up with their loud noise.

After getting up, Gu Yan rubbed his sleepy eyes and went to the living room, where he immediately saw Li Peiyu standing in the yard. So, he slowly walked over.

"Are you still watching that brainless drama from yesterday?" Gu Yan asked.

“It’s quite funny,” Li Peiyu replied without looking up.

"Stop looking. Didn't I say yesterday I'd take you to a nice place? Let's go." Gu Yan said, pulling Li Peiyu up.

"Where are we going?" Li Peiyu asked, puzzled.

“It’s a great place. You’ll see when you get there,” Gu Yan replied mysteriously.

Afterwards, Gu Yan changed his clothes, went to the basement, carefully selected a cool sports car, and sped off with Li Peiyu.

The car had been driving for half an hour, but they still hadn't reached their destination. Li Peiyu's heart began to pound with unease, and she started to feel a little panicked.

She couldn't help but recall the last time Gu Yan took her to that godforsaken lakeside and even tried to kiss her forcibly. Even now, thinking back on it still makes her shudder.

"Where are you taking me? I want to get off the bus." Li Peiyu's voice was filled with anxiety and anger.

"Go see your ex," Gu Yan said unhurriedly.

"My ex?" Li Peiyu looked blank, not understanding. She had dated Lu Yuzhi before, but he wasn't her ex; he was her current boyfriend.
