Chapter 32: Raising a Cub Day 32

The parent-teacher meeting ended after lunch. The parents went home and the students had to go back to the classroom to continue their classes.

Wei You had previously left the phone number of the van driver, and when he returned, he called the driver and asked him to pick him up from the school.

As it approached noon, the sun became brighter and brighter. The golden sunlight shone unreservedly on the retractable door at the school gate. The white light reflected by the door was dazzling.

Wei You felt dizzy from being exposed to the sun. Originally, in his timeline, it should be the middle of the night and he should be sleeping soundly. However, as he was shone by the warm sun, he felt sleepy again and again.

Wei Xu stood with him at the school gate waiting for the bus. Seeing his eyes gradually narrowing, he turned to him and raised his hand to block the sun for him, suggesting: "Go to the guard room and wait."

"It's okay, it'll only take ten minutes." Wei You yawned, looked around and found that there were no students around, and all the people coming out of the steps of the science and technology building were parents, so he said to Wei Xu: "You don't have to stay here with me, you will be late for class later."

Wei Xu: "It's lunchtime self-study now. It doesn't matter if I'm not in the classroom. They will think I'm helping the teacher."

Wei You smiled and said, "You have quite a lot of privileges as a squad leader."

Wei Xu pursed his lips and smiled.

A dry warm breeze blew from behind, lifting his light and smooth hair, and the boy's smile looked refreshing and clean.

"Have you grown taller again?" Wei You was attracted by a strand of hair floating above his head. He raised his hand to gesture and said, "It seems to be almost reaching my neck."

“Is it bad to be taller?”

"Of course I am. You didn't know that you were very short when you were little. I was always worried that you might have some health problems." Wei You recalled the cute little boy in his memory, and a smile appeared in his eyes. "You are quite proud of yourself because you can ride the bus for free."

Wei Xu tilted his head: "Really? I don't remember."

"It doesn't matter if you don't remember. I remember everything about your childhood." Wei You said, not noticing that Wei Xu's eyes suddenly became extra serious because of his words.

Then he said, "When you get out of school or when you have time, I'll buy you two sets of clothes."

Wei Xu blinked, smiled, and responded obediently, "Okay."

After a while, the van in the morning arrived at the school gate. The driver first honked twice at Wei You, and then skillfully turned around at the school gate.

"I'll go home first." Wei You patted Wei Xu's shoulder, thinking that he was so tired today and probably too lazy to cook in the evening, so he added: "Don't buy groceries in the afternoon, let's go out for dinner."

Wei Xu put down his arm, nodded in response, and watched him get into the car.

As he watched the silver-white van disappear at the end of the road, the smile on the boy's face suddenly faded.

·

Wei You returned home ten minutes later.

Although he hadn't been home for more than half a year, the house was still tidy, with fragrant flowers in the vase, and his room was still covered with clean, soap-scented bedding.

He quickly went into the bathroom, took a shower, changed into comfortable clothes, then closed the curtains and got into bed to catch up on his sleep.

He slept until Wei Xu came back from school. He woke up when he heard the sound of the door opening.

Because they had agreed to go out for dinner together, Wei You put on a shirt over his long-sleeved T-shirt. Just as he was about to change his shoes and go out, Wei Xu took out a black sports jacket and handed it to him, saying, "Brother, put on another one. It's a bit cold outside."

"Isn't it still quite hot at noon?"

“It gets cooler when the sun goes down.”

Wei You took the coat and put it on, praising him: "Now that you have grown up, you know how to take care of your brother. It's not in vain that I raised you."

"I've always been considerate." Wei Xu said as he took Wei You's shoes out of the shoe cabinet and placed them in front of him to show how considerate he was.

Wei You couldn't stand being taken care of like this, and said, "That's enough. You don't have to do so much. I'm not too old to bend down."

They had dinner in a restaurant downstairs. After dinner, the two of them took a walk along the street to digest the food and bought clothes that suited Wei Xu's height as he had grown a lot taller.

Considering that the weather was getting colder, Wei You bought him two thick hoodies with fleece lining and a loose sweater suitable for wearing at home. When he went to the pajama store, he also bought him two sets of autumn clothes and autumn trousers.

Wei You wanted to choose bright red, as it would look auspicious and festive.

Wei Xu finally resisted bravely this time, saying that he would never wear the red one. In the end, Wei You could only buy him a black autumn suit with regret.

While paying, Wei You noticed that Wei Xu's eyes would occasionally glance at a set of coral fleece pajamas hanging on the wall. The pajamas were white, with black buttons on the front and a hat at the back. There were two black and pink cat ears on the hat, which was very cute.

"Want it?" he asked.

Wei Xu hesitated for a moment and nodded.

"Then buy it."

Wei You turned around and asked the boss about the price. It turned out that the pajamas were quite expensive, more expensive than the two sets of autumn clothes combined.

"Forget it." Wei Xu said in a low voice.

He didn't really like the pajamas at first, but he thought that there were two cat ears on the hood and maybe his brother would like to see him wearing them.

"It's okay. Of course you have to buy it if you like it." Although Wei You was a bit stingy with money in other places, he never felt sorry for spending it on Wei Xu.

Hearing him say this, Wei Xu felt a little sweet in his heart, but also a little sour and numb for some reason.

After returning home, Wei You took out the pajamas from the packaging bag and gave them to Wei Xu, saying, "Try them on. If they don't fit or are uncomfortable, you can go back and change them."

"Oh." Wei Xu took his pajamas and went into the room.

Wei You unpacked all the newly bought clothes and put them into the laundry basket, ready to wash them tomorrow when the sun was out.

Just as I was about to enter the bedroom, I saw Wei Xu, who had changed into a one-piece pajamas, open the door and come out.

The boy put his hands in his pockets and lowered his eyes in embarrassment. His hair was pressed down on his forehead by his hat, with two black and pink cat ears standing on top of his head. He looked well-behaved, yet also a little playful and cute.

Wei You felt that his cute spot had been touched, and couldn't help but raise the corner of his lips and said: "It fits well, what do you think?"

Wei Xu raised his eyes and did not answer the question, but asked him: "Is it cute?"

"Cute, so cute." Wei You answered sincerely and raised his hand to pinch his cat ears.

"Do you remember when you were a kid, I bought you a dress with bunny ears? That dress looked really cute on you."

Wei Xu naturally remembered and said, "The dress is still there."

"Really?" Wei You was a little surprised: "You didn't throw it away?"

"Yes, it's at the bottom of the box. It's still new."

"It's better to put it away," Wei You said, "You can sort out the clothes you can't wear in the future and donate them."

Wei Xu did not respond.

It’s not that he is stingy. It’s okay to give away other clothes, but every piece of clothes Wei You bought for him is full of memories, and he doesn’t want to give them to others at all.

The new pajamas have been hanging in the store for too long and have a bad smell, so they need to be washed before they can be worn.

Wei Xu took a shower and changed into his old pajamas. When he came out, he saw that the living room was dark. Only the screen hanging on the wall was lit. A movie was playing, and the room was filled with the gentle piano music in the background.

Wei You noticed Wei Xu standing next to the sofa with wet hair, and said to him, "Go and blow dry your hair quickly, don't catch a cold."

Wei Xu took out a hair dryer from the cabinet and walked to his side, saying, "Brother, blow it for me."

Wei You raised his eyebrows: "During the day, weren't you a considerate and caring child? Now you want me to work for you again?"

Having said that, he still reached out to take the hair dryer, and Wei Xu immediately sat cross-legged on the carpet in front of him.

There was a socket next to the sofa. Wei You plugged it in, turned on the hair dryer and started to blow his hair.

It was not the first time that he had blow-dried Wei Xu's hair. When he was still a clingy boy, this kid would do this every few days. As a result, his technique had become very proficient. He would first use the highest setting to dry the roots of the hair thoroughly, and then use a low setting to slowly dry the damp ends of the hair.

The gentle warm breeze made Wei Xu drowsy, so he simply closed his eyes and enjoyed the process, hoping in his heart that his hair would dry more slowly.

At this moment, Wei You suddenly asked, "What reward do you want for getting first place in the midterm exam?"

Wei Xu opened his eyes quickly, a thought flashed through his mind unconsciously, and then his heart began to beat faster, even though he knew it was impossible for him to come up with this idea.

Finally, he just said, "Tonight, no, this week, I want to sleep with you."

"Why are you so clingy again?" Wei You turned off the hair dryer and rubbed his soft hair with his fingers. "Can this be considered a reward?"

"Is it okay?" Wei Xu turned his head and looked up at him.

Wei You thought he was being considerate and wanted to save money for himself, so he said, "Of course, but do you really not want something else? Cell phones, computers, game consoles, etc. that other kids like?"

Wei Xu shook his head: "This is very good."

"You're so easy to please." Wei You stood up, put the hair dryer in the cabinet, sighed and said, "Okay, then you can sleep with me this week."

That’s what he said at the time, but when he went to bed at night, Wei You found that this reward was not so easy to satisfy.

As Wei Xu grew older, it became more and more crowded for the two of them to sleep in one bed, especially since Wei Xu liked to sleep with his arms around him, which was really a bit annoying.

"Can't you just hug a pillow?" Wei You asked.

Wei Xu said in an aggrieved tone: "I got first place in the exam, can't I even hug my brother's arm?"

"Okay, okay, whatever you like."

Wei You closed his eyes and decided to give up the fight for the use of his left arm tonight.

Every time they sleep together, the little clingy guy would always ask some random questions. Last time he asked him if he was a virgin, and this time he brought up his hometown for no reason.

"Brother, where is your home?" Wei Xu asked, "The kind of home where you grew up."

Wei You was so sleepy that his head hurt a little, but he still answered in a good-tempered manner: "Jinyang."

Wei Xu exclaimed softly: "Wow, a big city."

"Um……"

“Is Jinyang fun?”

"Of course, there are many fun places," Wei You said perfunctorily, "I'll take you there when I have the chance."

"Then can you take me to meet my brother's parents?"

"Go... I'll take you to see my grandma if you want to. Go to sleep."

It seemed that Wei Xu just wanted to get the promise, so he happily responded, closed his eyes and went to sleep.

On the contrary, it was Wei You who was reminded of his past by his few questions.

He thought unconsciously in his mind that the background of this game world was exactly the same as the real world he lived in. All the important events that had happened in his memory over the past few years were also reproduced here one by one.

This made him wonder, could this game world be the past of the real world he was in?

If that is the case, if he goes to Jinyang now, can he see himself when he was sixteen years old and just entered high school?
