Chapter 6: Sixth Day of Raising a Cub

"elder brother."

Wei Xu sat up and shouted, but got no response.

He shouted twice louder, climbed down from the bed using his hands and feet, and without waiting to put on his shoes, he ran out barefoot on the floor tiles.

Hearing the sound of water coming from the bathroom, Wei Xu immediately ran to open the bathroom door, and only breathed a sigh of relief when he saw Wei You inside.

Hearing the noise behind him, Wei You turned off the faucet, wiped the water droplets on his face with a towel, and opened his eyes to see a little kid with messy clothes and hair standing behind him in the mirror.

"Why did you get up?" He turned around and asked, hanging the towel on the rack. He lowered his eyes and saw Wei Xu's bare feet, frowning: "You haven't put on your shoes yet?"

Wei Xu pursed his lips: "I thought you left."

"How can it be so fast?" Wei You understood his meaning as that he was reluctant to go to work.

He picked up Wei Xu and went back to the room, put the child on the bed, and wiped his feet with a towel. Then he squatted beside the bed and said, "Okay, go back to sleep. It's a rare holiday, so sleep a little longer."

Wei Xu pursed his lips into a straight line, and after enduring for a while, he couldn't help but speak: "Guazi wants to go with you."

Wei You felt helpless towards the little clingy guy, so he had to put on a straight face and said, "You're not cute like this. What did I tell you last night?"

Wei Xu raised his eyes and looked at him pitifully.

Wei You was heartbroken by his eye attack, but he still held on and didn't let go.

Finally Wei Xu had to give in and lay back in bed obediently.

"That's good." Wei You covered him with the quilt, rubbed his head, and coaxed him, "Do your homework and watch TV at home. Time will pass quickly. I will be back around five in the afternoon. I will make you something delicious, okay?"

Wei Xu nodded.

"Is there anything you want to eat, melon boy?"

“Eel rice.”

"Ah?" Wei You raised his eyebrows, a little surprised that he would say such a word.

"Fat Tiger's favorite one."

"Oh." Wei You remembered that the kid had been staring at the TV and watching Doraemon for more than two hours yesterday, causing his mind to be filled with the brainwashing music of Doraemon before going to bed.

"That may not work," Wei You said honestly, "How about this, when we have a chance in the future, I'll take you to eat eel rice. Is there anything else you want to eat?"

“Chicken wings.”

"Chicken wings are fine." Wei You smiled, "It's settled then. We'll have braised chicken wings tonight. Can we go to bed now?"

Wei Xu didn't want to sleep at all, but in order to maintain his well-behaved and cute image in his brother's heart, he pulled up the quilt and closed his eyes.

After a while, feeling Wei You getting up and leaving, he quietly opened his eyelids again.

Looking at the man's back disappearing at the door again, he felt uneasy in his heart. Although he knew he only had to wait at home for a few hours, he still had an indescribable feeling of anxiety, as if the other person would not come back for a long time after he left.

Hearing the slam of the door outside, Wei Xu finally couldn't help jumping out of bed, put on his slippers and ran into the kitchen, climbed up the cupboard using his hands and feet, and lay down by the glass window to look at the alley below.

About a minute or two later, Wei You walked out of the residential building and appeared in the alley downstairs.

Wei Xu's eyes suddenly widened.

He leaned against the window, staring intently at the white figure passing through the dark and messy alley.

There were many familiar neighbors in the alley, but in Wei Xu's eyes at this moment, they seemed to have become blurry shadows, no different from the hot steam coming from the breakfast shop.

In the white mist, only that silhouette was clear and bright.

·

Throughout the day, Wei Xu stayed at home obediently, doing his homework and watching TV, just as Wei You had said. He drank water when he was thirsty and heated up his own meals when he was hungry.

In addition, he also washed the clothes piled in the washing machine, swept the floor, and tidied the small house.

Before he knew it, it was time for Wei You to get off work. Wei Xu began to feel uneasy, and his heart beat faster every time someone passed by in the corridor.

He expected to hear the key unlocking the door, but that sound never came.

At 5:10, he thought it would take time for Wei You to come back.

At half past five, he thought Wei You might have gone to the vegetable market to buy vegetables.

At five fifty, he felt panic, and the anxiety that Wei You had felt when he left in the morning filled his body again.

He climbed onto the cupboard, staring at the entrance of the alley without moving, from the time the sun set until the sunset disappeared. The alley was gradually shrouded in deep night, and the figure he was expecting still did not appear.

When the clock struck seven, Wei Xu finally had to admit that his ominous premonition had come true.

·

Wei You suddenly fainted when he was about to go home after work. When he regained consciousness, he found himself sitting in a chair in front of a computer desk.

His first action was to turn on the computer which was in standby mode and check the time on the bottom. Then he opened his eyes wide in surprise.

12/1017:53

The date was still the day he entered the game.

He remembered that he ordered the takeout at five o'clock in the afternoon. Not long after that, he opened the game, and the time he entered the game could not be later than five o'clock.

And now, after he had spent two full days in the game, only forty minutes had passed when he returned to reality.

Wei You's mind raced, and he figured out that the speed of time in the game was about sixty times faster than his real time and space.

In other words, every minute he spent here, an hour passed in the game, and every day he spent here, two months passed in the game.

No wonder he was promoted from kindergarten to the second grade of elementary school after only half a month without playing games.

But why did he come back suddenly?

Wei You thought about this problem, reached into his trouser pocket, and took out a turned-off cell phone and sixty-five yuan in change.

Looking at these two things, Wei You frowned and couldn't help but have two guesses in his mind.

Firstly, he earned this money in another time and space. Now that it has been brought here, does it mean that he can also bring things from this time and space back to the past?

Secondly, his cell phone was turned off, but he clearly remembered that he took out his cell phone and took a look at it after settling his wages with the boss's wife not long ago, and the screen was still on.

So, he was able to come back because his phone was turned off?

Wei You thought about it, took his phone back to the room, charged it, and then pressed and held it to turn it on.

During this period, he was always worried that he would wear it again once his phone was turned on.

Fortunately, this did not happen until the lock screen password came on.

On the one hand, Wei You felt relieved, but on the other hand, he felt a little nervous. It was certainly a good thing to be able to come back, but he was also worried about Wei Xu who was alone at home.

The child might be waiting for him to go back and cook!

Wei You frowned in confusion and looked at the time on his phone. It was five fifty-eight.

Five minutes had passed since he came back, and it was already about ten o'clock in the evening in the game world. It was so late, the melon boy should be asleep...

After unlocking the lock screen password, a bunch of messages popped up on the phone, the most conspicuous of which were two missed calls with the note "express delivery".

If the delivery guy can’t get through to him on the phone, he should leave the food at the door.

Perhaps it was because of his deliberate avoidance mentality, but when Wei You saw the two calls, he seemed to have something urgent to do. He immediately put down his phone and went to the door to get the takeaway.

He was hungry now, so there was no rush to think about the game and the melon cub after he finished his meal.

He thought so, but when he sat at the table, opened the takeaway paper bag, and saw the food inside, his mind suddenly became confused.

Oh, he remembered that the reason he chose to order takeout instead of cooking before traveling through time was because he suddenly wanted to eat Japanese food at that time.

What he ordered was an octopus ball and an eel rice.

If he ordered something else, he could still pretend nothing happened and eat it, but there was no way he could eat the eel rice with peace of mind.

After hesitating for only a few seconds, Wei You decisively closed the takeaway bag, returned to the room and glanced at the time. It was 6:04, so he was still in time.

He found his wallet in the cabinet, took out all the cash inside and counted it. Including the change, the total was six hundred and forty-five.

It’s a little bit, but it’s enough for now.

Wei You put the cash and the sixty-five yuan he earned from working into his wallet and put it in his pocket. He stood there thinking for a moment, then turned around, picked up his tablet, opened the video software and downloaded the Doraemon movie into it.

He wasn't sure if he could bring this thing into the game world, or if he could still use it after entering the game, but it wouldn't hurt to try.

While waiting for the animation to download, he took out a backpack for traveling and put several sets of spare clothes, toiletries, as well as power banks, data cables and other things that might be used.

After putting them in, he looked around and put in the pen and notebook that had been given to him by an unknown brand.

He doesn't need this now, but since Guazai is still at school age, it's just right for him to use it.

Apart from these, there seems to be nothing else to bring.

Even if there is, we have to wait until next time. This bag is almost full.

Wei You picked up the tablet to check the download progress bar. As soon as the movie was successfully downloaded, he turned it off, put it in his backpack and zipped it up.

Putting on his backpack and walking back to the bed, Wei You picked up his phone and checked the time. It was 6:19 and the battery had been charged to 30%, which was almost enough.

Wei You took a deep breath, and when his finger was about to open the game, he suddenly had an idea and went to the dining table to pick up the takeaway bag.

Now he was fully prepared. He took another deep breath and clicked on the game icon of "Baby's Growth Plan" with his thumb trembling slightly.

A white screen popped up on the page, and a black progress bar began to load...

He felt extremely nervous, his palms were sweating, and he could hardly hold the phone.

Can I go in again?

This was Wei You’s last thought before he fell into darkness.

Then he quickly answered himself in his mind: It really works!
