Chapter 44

The autumn rain is drizzling, falling in waves.

In front of the bus stop, the man was half-crouching on the ground with his girl in his arms.

The umbrella in his hand had fallen to the ground beside him.

Raindrops dripped onto the black umbrella, then flowed down along the lines of the canvas, gathering into streams and finally falling onto the asphalt road, forming small puddles.

The man held the girl tightly in his arms, shielding her from all the wind and rain, not letting a single drop of rain fall on her.

In the rain, their figures were hazy, looking romantic and beautiful.

“Sizzle—”

A bus came from a distance and stopped beside them.

Hearing the sound, Chi Rui came back to his senses.

She raised her head slightly, rested her chin on the man's shoulder, raised her eyelashes, and saw the number on the bus.

This was the car she was waiting for, but it never came.

But at this moment, she didn't want to move at all.

She put her arms around the man's neck, leaned in his warm embrace, and felt his breath. She felt extremely at ease.

No one got on the bus. The bus slowly closed its door, then started again, turning its wheels and slowly driving away.

Finally, it completely disappeared in the heavy rain.

Chi Rui just watched it happen, and he was no longer as depressed as before.

Maybe it’s because she has already waited for the person she wanted to wait for.

She narrowed her eyes slightly, pressed her little face into the man's collar, and rubbed it contentedly.

However, after squatting for a long time, Ye Minghan gradually felt his legs beginning to go numb.

The sore and numb feeling spread from the soles of the feet up and extended into the thighs.

He pursed his lips, trying his best not to move.

However, this did not escape Chi Rui's notice.

She felt the muscles in his back tense, and after a moment's thought she understood.

At that moment, warmth melted in her heart.

She smiled slightly. Although she was a little reluctant, she still calmed down and raised her head from his arms.

"Brother Han."

She turned her head and called him, but her lips just happened to fall on his cheek.

Feeling the slightly cool skin, Chi Rui blinked and his face suddenly turned red.

She stepped back quickly.

Ye Minghan's legs had reached their limit, and he didn't notice her unintentional kiss for a moment.

When the girl looked up, he grabbed her shoulders and pushed her back to the bench, while he quickly stood up, turned around and sat on the chair with her.

The blood flowed back and the numbness in the legs was relieved.

Ye Minghan slowly breathed a sigh of relief.

When I turned my head to the side, I saw that not only the girl's eyes were red, but her face was also red. I thought she had cried too much, and I couldn't help feeling a little distressed.

"Okay, I'm not sad anymore."

He whispered to her, patting the top of her head.

After thinking about it, she reached out and took the plastic bag that had just been handed to her and took out the matcha red bean ice cream inside.

“Hey.”

He opened the package and fed the ice cream to her mouth.

Chi Rui looked at him, her little face flushed.

She hesitated for a moment, but still stuck out her pink tongue and gently licked the ice cream.

Looking at the girl licking the ice cream, Ye Minghan suddenly felt his heart tremble slightly and his heart beat faster.

He concealed the strange feeling, and when the girl licked it and then shyly stepped away, he stuffed the ice cream in her hand.

"Here."

Chi Rui held the popsicle stick and sat beside him with her head down, while Ye Minghan also turned his face away, seeming a little uncomfortable.

"Tick-tick-tick-tick-tick-"

At the bus stop, the man and the girl were sitting side by side.

It was quiet all around, and the only sounds were the rustling sound of rain and the crisp sound of raindrops hitting the umbrella.

It was as if there were only the two of them left in the world, so simple and so peaceful.

Chi Rui held an ice cream in her mouth. Although the weather was a bit cold, she was not afraid that the ice cream would melt.

The fragrance of matcha mixed with the sweetness of red beans spreads on the tip of the tongue. It is cool and delicious.

She took another delicious bite, then turned her head and secretly glanced at Ye Minghan.

He considerately didn't ask her why she was crying, and she didn't bring it up.

Seeing that he wasn't paying attention, she quietly and stealthily approached him, then tilted her head and gently leaned on his arm.

Ye Minghan paused, his back visibly stiffened, and he felt his heartbeat quicken.

He glanced at Chi Rui and turned away.

That strange feeling of difference came back again.

In fact, it cannot be said to be unfamiliar, after all, it has appeared several times.

He couldn't quite remember when it first appeared. This feeling seemed to only appear when he was facing Chi Rui.

Thinking of this, he couldn't help but frowned slightly.

He had never been with any other girls except Ye Mengke and Chi Rui since childhood, so he was a little confused about what that feeling meant.

All along, he thought it was normal because Chi Rui was his sister and the person he wanted to protect.

But it was obvious that he didn't have this feeling when facing his sister.

"Brother Han."

The girl's voice sounded softly, interrupting his thoughts.

"Why...are you here?"

Ye Minghan froze involuntarily. He couldn't say that he followed her here, could he? He pursed his lips and said, "I have an appointment with a client nearby."

"oh……"

Chi Rui rolled his eyes and asked, "Is it a male or female customer?"

Ye Minghan said guiltily: "A man."

Hearing his strange look, Chi Rui raised her head slightly and rested her chin lightly on his arm.

Noticing her gaze, Ye Minghan turned his eyes away and avoided her eyes.

Chi Rui narrowed her eyes and felt his guilty conscience. She became a little suspicious, but after thinking about it, she felt a little happy.

If he was meeting a female client but deliberately said it was a male, was it because... he was afraid that she would be jealous?

Then could she think that...Brother Han didn't completely treat her as a sister, but liked her a little bit?

She curled her eyes slightly and smiled lightly, feeling a little satisfied because of this guess.

Although he likes Ye Minghan, Chi Rui has no plans to confess his feelings to him yet.

On the one hand, it was because she was shy, and on the other hand, she had promised her mother that she would not fall in love too early in high school.

Although she has to wait until next year, she doesn't think there is anything wrong with it.

Anyway, I'm happy like this now.

And before officially confessing her feelings, could she... make Brother Han fall in love with her too?

Ye Minghan lowered his eyebrows and saw the little girl suddenly laugh. He paused, then slightly curved the corners of his lips, with a bit of doting in his eyes.

This silly girl, why does she believe everything he says?

"The rain seems to have eased a bit."

After sitting for a while, Ye Minghan looked up at the sky and picked up the umbrella that had fallen to the ground.

"I'll drive the car over. You wait here."

Seeing that he was about to get up, Chi Rui quickly hugged his arm.

"No." She pouted slightly and looked at him aggrievedly, "I don't want to stay here alone."

Ye Minghan couldn't help but pause, thinking back to the scene where she was sitting here alone just now, indeed...

A bit pitiful.

"What should we do then?"

He looked at her with lowered eyebrows, his eyes revealing a bit of helplessness.

Chi Rui giggled, stuffed the finished popsicle stick back into the plastic bag, then put on her backpack and grabbed his sleeves with both hands.

"I'll go with you."

The girl said this, her limp body almost coming over.

Smelling the fragrance that suddenly approached, Ye Minghan felt his Adam's apple tighten a little, but looking at her bright smile, he was reluctant to push her away.

"All right."

Finally, he nodded helplessly.

Seeing that he was willing to agree, Chi Rui couldn't help but grin and laugh.

Ye Minghan stood up holding an umbrella, Chi Rui held his arm and walked into the rain with him.

The umbrella is not small and is more than enough to cover two people.

Just because of some ulterior motives, Chi Rui moved closer to Ye Minghan as the rain got heavier.

The two of them were pressed tightly together, and in the cold autumn rain, they could feel each other's body temperatures intertwined.

Warm and close, yet with a hint of indescribable ambiguity.

Chi Rui's face was red, she felt a little shy, but also a little excited.

The two walked slowly on the asphalt road.

Occasionally one or two cars sped past. Ye Minghan frowned and broke away from the girl's hand.

Chi Rui was stunned. Before she felt sad, she saw him stretch out his arms and put them around her shoulders, holding her in his arms.

She couldn't help but look up. The man was looking straight ahead with the same cold expression.

But being so close, she didn't miss the slight blush at the base of his ears.

Chi Rui blinked and moved a little closer to him, and indeed felt his obvious stiffness.

Is Brother Han also shy?

She smiled secretly because she felt novel about this sudden discovery.

"Watch the road."

Noticing the girl's gaze, Ye Minghan pursed his lips uncomfortably, and finally couldn't help but say something to her.

"oh……"

Chi Rui responded with a small sound, then obediently withdrew his gaze and looked at the road.

The two walked together in the rain.

They walked slowly, as if they didn't want to finish the journey too quickly.

But no matter how slow they slowed down, they finally arrived at where Ye Minghan parked his car.

Ye Minghan opened the car door and let Chi Rui sit in the passenger seat. Then he walked around to the other side and got in the car.

Because he had been protecting her, his coat was soaked by the rain.

"Brother Han, take off your coat first, to avoid catching a cold." Chi Rui opened the secret compartment, took out a clean towel and handed it to him.

Ye Minghan nodded, took off his coat neatly, and pulled off his tie.

That casual action was somewhat unrestrained.

When he took off his coat, the front of his coat, which was wet by rain, was completely exposed, and his strong and lean muscles were faintly visible underneath.

Chi Rui glanced at him for a few seconds, blushed slightly, and quickly looked away.

"Going back?" Ye Minghan glanced at her sideways.

"Um."

Chi Rui nodded, her eyes wandering and she didn't dare to look at him.

Ye Minghan didn't notice it. He just wiped the water stains with a towel, started the engine and drove off.

A black Rolls-Royce drove through the rain.

"By the way, Brother Han, why did you change the car today?" Chi Rui asked belatedly.

Ye Minghan paused, tightened his grip on the steering wheel, and then said casually, "Nothing, let's go for another car."

"Oh, I see."

Chi Rui did not doubt it. After all, there were more than a dozen cars parked in the Ye family's garage, so it was understandable that they would take turns driving them when they had nothing to do.

"And you?"

"ah?"

"Didn't you say you were going out to play with friends?"

This time, it was Chi Rui's turn to hesitate.

Ye Minghan glanced at her and couldn't help but breathe a sigh of relief when he saw that the subject had been successfully diverted.

Why change car?

Of course, I didn't want to be recognized when I was being followed...
