In the villa at the Jiang family's old residence, Jiang Yingning said to Su Wanwan, "Let Xingzhou stay here later, otherwise how can I develop a relationship with him? He is my child, you can't take him for yourself."
Su Wanwan politely replied, "I never thought of possessing him, but you should also ask him what he thinks."
Jiang Yingning said dismissively, "What thoughts could a child possibly have? I'm forcibly keeping him by my side. He's just a child, he has nothing, and he won't go anywhere."
Su Wanwan retorted, "No wonder he doesn't like talking to you; you simply don't know how to respect him."
Jiang Yingning instantly reviewed what she had said, but then excitedly exclaimed, "I'm his biological mother!"
Su Wanwan calmly replied, "Does being a biological mother mean you have to make him obey you?"
She only hoped that her sister could learn how to get along with children so that Xingzhou would accept her.
Jiang Yingning, her face filled with sorrow, poured out her heart to express her bitterness:
“His father passed away. You have no idea how much pain I’ve endured all these years. I had just raised Xingzhou to be a year old when his father got into trouble while arresting drug dealers. I was so anxious to see his father that I neglected him, which led to this situation. Over the years, I’ve lost both my husband and my child. You can’t imagine how I’ve gotten through it all.”
Su Wanwan felt a pang of emotion, knowing that each of them had their own unspeakable suffering.
She felt deep pity for Jiang Yingning and also felt compassion for Su Xingzhou.
Jiang Yingning continued to plead, "Please let him stay tonight, okay? I'm begging you, he only listens to you now."
Su Wanwan was in a dilemma. At this moment, Su Xingzhou, who had been hiding in the shadows, came out.
He stepped forward to speak up for Su Wanwan and proposed a solution:
“Aunt Jiang, I still can’t accept you, so I hope you won’t make things difficult for my sister either. I already disliked you after you forced me to drink milk last time.”
Su Wanwan immediately understood why Su Xingzhou disliked Jiang Yingning: he was indeed allergic to milk, but he also disliked explaining things to strangers.
Su Xingzhou continued, "Perhaps you are very sad, but I am just as sad. I was beaten by my adoptive father in the countryside, and after I escaped, I was chased and bitten by a pack of wolves. It was my sister and mother who saved me."
At this point, Su Xingzhou almost burst into tears, but he held back his tears and calmly said:
“Aunt Jiang, I will try to come back to see you when I have time, because it was you and Dad who gave me life and the opportunity to live in this world. However, I want to spend most of my time with my sister. I promised Mom that I wouldn’t cause my sister any trouble. And I also promised my sister that I wouldn’t argue with you.”
Looking at Su Xingzhou's innocent little face and listening to his firm and powerful voice, Su Wanwan was filled with emotion.
However, the child is still too young and inexperienced to understand Jiang Yingning's complex emotions.
But he knew clearly what he wanted and what he didn't want.
Then, Su Xingzhou said to Su Wanwan, "Sister, let Uncle take you home tonight. I won't stay with you. I'll stay and chat with Aunt Jiang."
When Su Wanwan heard Su Xingzhou say this, she was secretly happy for Jiang Yingning, but she also felt that something was strange.
The uncle he mentioned was Jiang Shengyun, but he called himself "sister" and his own mother "Aunt Jiang," which is really a bit ridiculous.
“Okay, I respect your opinion,” Su Wanwan replied kindly with a smile.
The atmosphere inside the Jiang family's old residence was somewhat subtle.
Su Wanwan thought to herself that she really didn't want Su Xingzhou to suffer with her.
If tonight's heart-to-heart talk can warm up the relationship between Su Xingzhou and Jiang Yingning, then Su Xingzhou can stay in the Jiang family from now on.
As she turned and left, she felt a sense of relief.
At that moment, Jiang Shengjun was also talking with his twin brother Jiang Shengsheng in the yard.
Unintentionally, Su Wanwan overheard Jiang Shengjun standing there with one hand in his pocket, saying, "Actually, I had another purpose in getting close to Su Wanwan."
Jiang Shengsheng sat in a wheelchair. Although he looked exactly like Jiang Shengjun, his expression was gentler and less cold.
Although Jiang Shengjun tried his best to appear gentle in front of Su Wanwan most of the time, his deep eyes were still filled with coldness.
Now, standing next to her brother, the difference in their expressions and demeanor becomes even more apparent.
Hearing this now, Su Wanwan had even more doubts.
Jiang Shengsheng asked with a smile, "It's obvious that you approached her for the key to the Hall of Mental Cultivation. Do you have feelings for her?"
Jiang Shengjun replied, "No, all the affection I showed in front of her was an act."
Upon hearing this, Su Wanwan's heart instantly turned as cold as an ice cellar.
Jiang Shengsheng smiled and said, "You've always liked to say one thing and mean another since you were little, and you still treat your brother like an outsider?"
Jiang Shengyun said, "I really don't like her."
Jiang Shengsheng then asked, "Is Ouyang Maomao's child yours?"
My older brother has known since he was little that Ouyang Maomao likes him, so...
Jiang Shengjun gave an ambiguous answer: "Probably... no."
The child wasn't his; he just wanted to tease his older brother, but Su Wanwan overheard his words.
Jiang Shengsheng pointed at his younger brother and said, "You, if you use these underhanded tricks on the people around you, you'll suffer the consequences one day."
Jiang Shengjun replied, "I will not be a pawn, I will only be the one playing the game."
Su Wanwan was furious when she heard this.
She found it hard to believe that Jiang Shengjun had approached her in the first place in order to find traces of the key to the Hall of Mental Cultivation.
