Chapter 143 The Grand Finale: Su Wanwan's Ten Fingers a Bloody Mess

A year later, things remained calm, and there was still no progress in the investigation of Fu Ning's death.

Su Xingzhou is eight years old, Su Yu and Su Yuan are two years old, and Su Xiaoli and Su Xiaoqing are one year old.

Su Wanwan and Jiang Shengjun were together for three years.

Noon.

The couple sat under the cherry tree, enjoying the shade, their rocking chairs swaying with each other's movements.

"If time could turn back, would you still choose to be with me?" Jiang Shengjun asked.

Su Wanwan said, "No, actually I've always regretted marrying you because of that five million, which caused my relationship with Ouyang Maomao to become so strained. As I said, I actually value friendship more. The reason I accepted that five million is actually... well, it's fate, but I've always felt awkward about it."

Jiang Shengyun held a palm-leaf fan in his hand, and in the sweltering summer heat, his smile gradually turned cold: "So, you still regret marrying me?"

Su Wanwan shook her head and denied it: "I don't regret marrying you. You've always been very good to me. It's just that I have some problems."

She didn't know how to tell Jiang Shengjun her inner feelings, but perhaps Jiang Shengjun already knew what she was thinking.

She has always valued friendship more. Even though Ouyang Maomao is an utterly wicked person, she still remembers that when they were little, Ouyang Maomao wouldn't even step on an insect.

But what she didn't know was that Ouyang Maomao was afraid of insects, which was why she didn't dare to step on them, not because she couldn't bear to.

Jiang Shengjun seemed to be able to see what she was thinking. He patted her on the shoulder and said, "Wanwan, you need to be clear about what you want, who is worth your sincere feelings, and who isn't. Don't assume that you have a deeper relationship with someone just because you've spent a lot of time with them. Some people can remain strangers even after ten or twenty years of being together, while others can become like best friends after just two or three days of being together."

Su Wanwan nodded obediently: "I understand, Shengjun. I will cherish you. No matter who tries to take you from me, I will not push you away or give you to someone else."

Jiang Shengjun was pleased to hear this. Looking at the sunset in the distance, he casually mentioned, "I've found your divorce certificate."

Su Wanwan looked at the bright red cherries hanging on the tree, as clear and translucent as pearls, and then turned to look at him.

"Then... let's go get our marriage certificate tomorrow."

Jiang Shengjun was as happy as a child and hurriedly asked Su Wanwan, "Have you thought it through?"

She smiled gently and nodded silently.

"Husbands and wives should be honest with each other. Let me tell you another secret." She sat in the rocking chair, fanning herself, the light of the setting sun reflecting in her clear eyes.

Jiang Shengjun asked curiously, "What secret?"

Su Wanwan turned to look at him and said very seriously, "My ten fingerprints are the keys to the Hall of Mental Cultivation."

Jiang Shengjun frowned, asking incredulously, "What did you say?"

Su Wanwan put down her fan, raised her hands, and gestured again: "My ten fingerprints are the keys to the Hall of Mental Cultivation."

Jiang Shengjun was startled and worried. He quickly got off the rocking chair, walked to Su Wanwan's side, and squatted down in front of her: "You can't say things like that, Wanwan. I'm afraid you'll get hurt."

Su Wanwan said, "It's okay. Look, there's no one else around us, and I'm not speaking loudly. No one will hear us."

Jiang Shengjun frowned and said with a slight parting of his thin lips, "Then you'll have to be even more careful from now on. I'll also send people to follow you and protect you."

Su Wanwan shook her head and reached out to smooth Jiang Shengjun's furrowed brows: "It's alright, don't worry."

The next day.

At the entrance of the Civil Affairs Bureau.

The weather was a bit muggy, so Jiang Shengjun went to queue up to get a number. Because there were many people getting their marriage certificates, he told Su Wanwan to sit in the car and enjoy the air conditioning first, and he would call her when he got his number.

She was scrolling through short videos in her car when she soon received a call from Jiang Shengjun.

Carrying a small bag, she got off the bus this time, feeling more expectant and happy than the last time she got her marriage certificate.

But as soon as she got off the bus, someone covered her mouth and nose with a silk scarf. Upon closer inspection, she could smell a fresh perfume scent.

That scent was the perfume Ouyang Maomao had been wearing for eight years, and Su Wanwan still remembered it.

At the time, she said it was a special blend given to her by the perfumer, one of a kind in the world.

She fainted after smelling it for no more than three seconds.

When she woke up again, she was locked in a dark basement.

It was pitch black all around, with not a single ray of light penetrating through the cracks.

"Is anyone there?" she asked softly.

In the confined space, she felt as if there was no air circulation, and all she could hear was her own breathing.

Suddenly, my vision brightened, followed by a sharp "snap!" sound that reached my ears.

Before them stood the incredibly thin Ouyang Maomao, so thin she seemed to be nothing but bones, like a walking skeleton.

"Kitty?" Su Wanwan looked at her and called out the other person's name uncertainly.

Ouyang Maomao held a saw in her hand, plugged it in, and the sharp electric saw made a piercing "hissing" sound.

She gradually approached Su Wanwan, a madman-like smile appearing on her lips.

Su Wanwan was handcuffed, her ten fingers inserted into a wooden board with ten round holes.

She looked at Ouyang Maomao, her heart pounding with panic: "What are you going to do?"

Ouyang Maomao smiled and even joked with Su Wanwan: "Villains die from talking too much. Don't ask me anymore, I'll just do it. You just watch."

Su Wanwan roughly guessed what she wanted to do and tried to remain calm: "Ouyang Maomao! I've raised your child for two years! I advise you not to act impulsively."

Ouyang Maomao gently touched Su Wanwan's face with her skin and bones. Her left eyebrow was raised and her right eyebrow was lowered, making her face severely asymmetrical when she smiled.
