Chapter 3 She looks a lot like an old friend of mine.

"What's wrong?"

Ouyang Maomao's voice echoed through the corridor.

She jogged up to Su Wanwan and reached out to pull the new Chinese-style wooden hairpin from her hair.

Her hair fell from the same spot like branches and leaves, from her ears to her neck and then to her shoulders.

A faint scent of perfume wafts through the air.

The next second, she lightly tapped the wooden hairpin in her hand on Jiang Shengjun's wrist next to his watch.

That gesture... was extremely ambiguous.

She squatted down and helped Su Wanwan up, giving Jiang Shengjun a cute, disdainful look.

That look in her eyes...it looked just like she was being coquettish.

"Jiang Shengjun, how dare you hit my Wanwan?"

Jiang Shengjun, so that's his name.

The "晟" in "The sun does not love light, but shines on the darkness within the 晟" is a metaphor for something else entirely.

The poem begins with the line, "Begging for water and asking for directions, I arrived at Yunxi; the weather was fine and pleasant."

Su Wanwan seemed to have figured out her best friend's feelings for Jiang Shengjun and didn't want to say anything more to the man in front of her.

She leaned on Ouyang Maomao's hand to get up, struggling weakly and enduring the pain.

"How are you? Wanwan, I'll take you to the hospital. Let's put Zhao Xunhuai aside for now."

Su Wanwan nodded. Her foot was in so much pain that the feeling of her bones being dislocated made her feel numb from the nerve pain, as if her foot and leg had been separated.

"No need to go to the hospital. I studied some traditional Chinese medicine when I was young, so I can give it a try."

Jiang Shengjun spoke, and his voice inexplicably gave people a sense of calm.

However, Su Wanwan cannot trust him just because he is handsome and has a nice voice. What does it mean to say that you can give it a try?

What if it doesn't work out and she ends up crippled?

She also needs to work to earn money to provide a better life for her mother.

On the other hand, she could tell that her best friend was interested in Jiang Shengjun, and she didn't want to have too much contact with the man in the suit in front of her.

"No need, I'll go to the hospital instead."

Su Wanwan's expression of refusal made Ouyang Maomao anxious, recalling the scene where 18-year-old Jiang Shengjun completely cured her grandfather's illness with just a few fine fire needles.

She was also thinking about the task Zhao Xunhuai had asked her to do.

She continued to persuade Su Wanwan with her words.

"Wanwan, let him take a look at it for you."

Seeing Su Wanwan hesitate, Ouyang Maomao directly helped her to sit on the Eiffel Iron Chair in the corridor and gave her a firm and definite piece of advice.

"Oh, Wanwan, just believe him. The young master of the Jiang family is quite skilled in traditional Chinese medicine. If his family hadn't forced him to go into business back then, he might be a big shot in the field of traditional Chinese medicine now."

Seeing this, Su Wanwan had no choice but to agree: "Alright, it's good to be close to the source. Thank you, Mr. Jiang."

Since you are a doctor, there's no need to stand on ceremony.

Jiang Shengyun smiled warmly, slowly squatted down, her long eyelashes drooping along the delicate curve of her upper eyelids, and her fair, well-defined hands picked up Su Wanwan's small feet.

Su Wanwan is a rather traditional and restrained woman. Apart from physical contact with Zhao Xunhuai, she has never had contact with any other men.

Jiang Shengjun gently took off her high heels, revealing her nude pink nail polish against her fair feet.

She was a little embarrassed.

but.

When you actually start doing it.

Su Wanwan was in excruciating pain.

She is very afraid of pain, especially pain.

Large, pearl-like tears welled up in her eyes, slid down the curve of her eyelashes, followed her smooth face, and brushed past her delicate jawline before accidentally dripping onto the cuff of Jiang Shengyun's white shirt, who was just raising his hand.

Jiang Shengjun held a tissue in his hand, raised it halfway up the air and handed it to her, his thin lips slightly parted: "Wipe away your tears, bear with it, it will stop hurting soon."

His voice was always deep and gentle.

Su Wanwan clung to Ouyang Maomao's arm and bluntly refused, "No need, thank you."

OK.

He continued.

Jiang Shengjun's palm pressed completely against the sole of Su Wanwan's foot, while his other hand gripped her ankle tightly and twisted it forcefully.

ah!

It hurts so much!

In a split second, she felt a sharp pain and wanted to scream, but she forced herself to remain silent.

In that instant, her foot seemed to be reattached, and the pain gradually subsided.

"Alright, Miss Ouyang, and this lady, I'll be going now, I have other things to attend to."

Ouyang Maomao waved: "Bye-bye, Jiang Shengjun!"

Su Wanwan hadn't recovered yet. She looked down to put on her own shoes and saw his leather shoes gradually turn away until they disappeared from her sight.

After putting on her shoes, Su Wanwan finally looked up.

The two elevator doors gradually closed together, and from a distance, one could see the imposing figure standing inside the elevator window, hidden from the bright lights and bustling city.

Inside the elevator.

Jiang Shengjun's capable assistant, Xiao K, seemed to have noticed something.

He then asked, "President, what do you think of this woman regarding the marriage? Although company matters are important, harmony in the family brings prosperity."

Jiang Shengjun gazed at the night view outside the glass window of the elevator, recalling Su Wanwan's panicked state just now, and pushed up his frameless glasses.

"She looks a lot like an old friend of mine, like I've seen her before, but I can't marry her."

Little K was puzzled when she saw him hesitate to speak.

"Why? Are you sure you don't want to access her information? Madam is pressuring you a bit, and Grandmother also wants to see her grandson. She keeps asking me and Ah Q to urge you."

Jiang Shengjun's composed expression flickered with worry, and after a moment's thought, he shook his head.

"I want to fulfill my grandfather's wish, so... I don't want to involve her. I'll leave everything... to fate."

Little K asked again, "Is it because you're worried about Miss Ouyang that you're not marrying her?"

Jiang Shengjun stepped out of the elevator and offered a brief explanation to Xiao K.
