Chapter 2 Diary "Not interested."
"2017.08.21 The weather is sunny and hot."
Dear Y:
Today is our first official meeting. After three years, I finally see you again.
——Excerpt from Tao Shuran’s Diary
*
Tuesday, the day after Tao Shuran transferred to another school.
She hurriedly wrote the last line of her diary in her room, and just as she was about to put pen to paper, she heard Zhao Yanyun shouting in the living room.
"Ranran, are you up yet? Come out and have breakfast quickly."
"We're running out of time. Come out quickly and don't dawdle."
"Here I come, Mom."
Tao Shuran opened the drawer and quickly stuffed the diary into the innermost part. Then he sorted the books in his bag and trotted out.
She washed up briefly and came out to see the breakfast Zhao Yanyun had prepared for her today on the dining table.
A simple bowl of clear soup noodles.
But Tao Shuran understood that for Zhao Yanyun, who was not good at cooking, this bowl of noodles was already a huge challenge.
She picked up a strand with her chopsticks and took a tentative bite.
As expected, it was not cooked through, the noodles were hard and there was too much salt.
Zhao Yanyun looked at her very unconfidently and asked, "How is it?"
“Isn’t it salty enough?”
She went back to get the seasoning: "Mom will add some light soy sauce for you."
Zhao Yanyun's hand trembled, and the originally clear bowl of noodles instantly turned black.
Tao Shuran swallowed the noodles in her mouth and said softly, "But Mom, you put soy sauce in it."
"Forget it, Mom will go downstairs to buy you some buns and fried dough sticks."
Tao Shuran shook her head, lowered her head and took a couple of bites. She glanced at the clock, picked up her schoolbag and was about to leave.
"No, Mom. I'm going to be late for school. I'm leaving now."
Zhao Yanyun shouted behind her: "Then be careful on the road and walk to the side."

Linchuan Middle School officially starts in September, and only the senior year starts early in August.
As a result, there are few people going to school on the road, and the breakfast shops along the street are rarely open.
Tao Shuran took out the tangled headphone cord from his pocket and practiced listening by the roadside.
Little did they know that Class 1 of the Arts Department was in an uproar because of her arrival.
Everything started with a photo Fang Qingyi posted in the class group. Yesterday, she accompanied Tao Shuran to look for books in the warehouse. During the intermission, she secretly played with her mobile phone and took a photo of her.
Even in the dim light of the messy warehouse, it cannot hide a fair and elegant face. The half-high ponytail reveals a slender neck. Even if there is only a blurry side profile, one can vaguely see the youthful and elegant temperament.
This photo immediately aroused the class's curiosity about the new student to the extreme.
Later, someone uploaded this photo to the campus wall. It was so vague that even several science classes next door came to inquire about it.
Fifteen minutes before morning self-study, familiar footsteps were heard outside the door. Zhao Zhengnian, who was sitting in the last row, immediately turned around and accurately caught the breakfast bag that flew from mid-air.
"Fu Changpei, you are finally here."
He was howling with hunger, and while chewing on a bun, he was wondering what his new classmate looked like.
Fang Qingyi clasped her hands together and said, "Anyway, he's a very nice and gentle person."
She showed the new pendant on her schoolbag: "Look, this is a gift she gave me."
As he was speaking, a boy came running in from outside the door, holding onto the door frame without even catching his breath.
Fang Qingyi rolled her eyes at him and said unhappily, "Sun Teng, speak more clearly."
Sun Teng is the physical education committee member of their class. He is a big and strong man who likes to bully girls. Fang Qingyi doesn't have a good impression of this kind of person and speaks to him in a bad tone.
Sun Teng came over mysteriously and said, "I just saw our new classmate at the door."
Zhao Zhengnian said vaguely: "Is it true or not?"
"Really? I saw Lao Zhou leading people to the office."
Immediately, a classmate in the class asked curiously: "What does she look like? Is she really that beautiful?"
Sun Teng said with a thoughtful expression, "She has fair skin, a slim waist and long legs. She looks exactly like in the comics. From my perspective, she has..."
His voice suddenly dropped, he gestured and lowered his head, then he hugged a few boys around him and started talking and laughing.
Fang Qingyi made a vomiting expression.
Just at this moment, someone walked in from outside. Liang Yuanjing walked slowly, stepping on the rising sun, and stood behind Sun Teng.
Suddenly, she put her hand on his shoulder.
Sun Teng was startled, thinking that it was the head teacher coming to check on him, and he stood there for a long time, not daring to move.
Later, I caught a glimpse of him out of the corner of my eye and saw him let out a long sigh.
"I'm so scared, it turns out to be you, brother."
His voice was a little flattering. In fact, Liang Yuanjing was not much older than him. They were in the same class. It was just that Sun Teng had vaguely heard about his family background, so he always lowered himself unconsciously in front of him.
Unexpectedly, Liang Yuanjing, who usually ignored him, stood behind him for the first time today.
Sun Teng was about to speak when he noticed Liang Yuanjing raising his eyes and looking at him.
His voice was cold, with a rustling metallic sound like someone just woke up, and he asked back—
"You think it's funny to comment on a girl like that?"
Sun Teng sneered: "What's wrong? Is it wrong for me to praise her?"
"Oh, I see."
Liang Yuanjing crossed his arms, glanced lazily from head to toe, and then spoke in a nonchalant tone.
"He has slightly dark skin, short legs and long arms. He looks very strong, but lacks a bit of brains."
Sun Teng glared at him: "Liang Yuanjing, what do you mean?"
Liang Yuanjing raised his eyebrows slightly and spoke in a light tone.
"Wouldn't you be offended too?"
The noisy crowd finally dispersed. Liang Yuanjing kicked away the stool next to him, took off his school uniform jacket to cover his face, and skillfully lay down on the empty seat next to Zhao Zhengnian to sleep.
Zhao Zhengnian next to him looked extremely happy.
He jokingly asked, "Master Liang, who offended you today? Why are you so angry?"
Liang Yuanjing ignored him.
Zhao Zhengnian spoke to himself, "Morning self-study is boring. It just so happens that your flight class doesn't have morning reading. Why don't you come play ball with me later? We can also meet our new classmates."
He raised his hands to assure me, "I don't have any dirty thoughts. I'm just curious and admiring."
Being disturbed in his sleep, Liang Yuanjing made an impatient "tsk" sound.
"I won't see you."
His tone was extremely cold: "Not interested."
Tao Shuran paused as she walked into the classroom at 6:25 on time. She could recognize the familiar voice almost immediately just by looking at the back.
She stood at the door, staring blankly at Liang Yuanjing who was sitting in the last row.
The boy's voice was clearly sleepy, and his whole body revealed an indescribable laziness. The blue and white school uniform was covering his head. The sun was shining brightly outside the window. He tilted his head slightly, closed his eyes and rested his head on his arm, revealing half of his delicate and smooth profile, just facing the direction Tao Shuran came in.
Tao Shuran's heart skipped a beat and he subconsciously stopped where he was.
Zhou Wu passed by the corridor and called out to her, "What are you doing standing at the door? Come in."
With two minutes left before morning reading, Tao Shuran was led to the podium.
She subconsciously glanced in that direction, but found that the boy who was catching up on his sleep had disappeared at some point, and everything seemed like a dream to her.
She felt a little lost and didn't even remember what the head teacher said.
Zhou Wu patted her shoulder and pointed to the empty seat in the last row and said, "You can sit there for now. I'll adjust it later when I have time."
The location was where Liang Yuanjing had just sat.
Tao Shuran pursed her lips, suppressed her emotions, and slowly walked to the last row.
She sat down with her schoolbag and greeted her new deskmate sitting by the window.
My new deskmate is a boy with a strong wheat-colored skin and dark, deep eyebrows. He is very easygoing and took the initiative to introduce himself.
"Hello, my name is Zhao Zhengnian."
Tao Shuran smiled slightly.
After morning self-study began, her new deskmate seemed to be attacked by carbohydrates and fell into a deep sleep.
There was the sound of reading all around, but Tao Shuran was flipping through the unfamiliar textbooks with some embarrassment.
After a while, Fang Qingyi, who was sitting in the front row, secretly held up the book and pointed to the page number for her.
Tao Shuran turned over, but was secretly surprised.
After class, Fang Qingyi immediately surrounded her. "Didn't you take extra classes during the summer vacation? We've already finished the first round during the summer vacation."
Tao Shuran shook her head. Although the No. 1 High School where she used to study was the best high school in Xian Yao, the undergraduate rate was only 40 to 50 percent, and most of them were from second-tier universities and private colleges.
The teachers in the school teach in a standard way, and she hasn't even started studying the senior high school textbooks.
I didn’t expect that I have already finished a round of classes here and entered the review stage.
"You guys are amazing."
"That's nothing. Fu Changpei and Liang Yuanjing are the real deal. They've always been ranked first and second in their age group."
Fang Qingyi complained, "I really don't know what's wrong with their brains. Did they drink six walnuts to nourish their brains in the womb?"
Zhao Zhengnian, who was half asleep on the table, suddenly interrupted, "Then you must have drunk a lot of Sanlu milk powder in your mother's womb."
"You want to die, Zhao Zhengnian."
Fang Qingyi kicked him and said, "Believe it or not, you'll still be ranked last in the placement test next week."
Tao Shuran took the opportunity to ask, "What's the basic test?"
"You don't know? No wonder, this is a tradition of our affiliated high school."
"But don't worry too much." Fang Qingyi opened her arms and said to her with a smile, "Let me formally introduce you. This is Zhao Zhengnian, my good friend and the perennial bottom-ranked student in our class 1."
When it comes to the word "good friend", Fang Qingyi grits her teeth.
Zhao Zhengnian also looked at her with gritted teeth: "You are really good friends."
"Then let me introduce you, Fang Qingyi, my long-time rival for last place."
It seemed that they were about to have an argument.
Tao Shuran quickly pulled Fang Qingyi away and asked her, "Is there a key point for this exam?"
“I haven’t learned many chapters yet.”
"There shouldn't be any in our class."
Fang Qingyi thought for a moment and said, "But I know that a person must have a focus."
"Don't worry, I'll take care of it."
After a whole day of classes, Tao Shuran clearly felt that he was finding it much harder to study than others.
Because it was not yet time for the official classes, evening self-study did not officially begin. Even so, Tao Shuran still asked her class teacher to let her stay after school to study for a while.
The head teacher highly praised her initiative in learning.
"There are often teachers working overtime in the office. If you have any questions, feel free to ask."
Tao Shuran said "hmm".
That evening, she was kept back by her math teacher to correct her mistakes, and it was still early when she came out.
Tao Shuran decided to go back to the classroom and recite the text for a while.
She was reciting the poem "Thinking of the Past" written by Xiang Xiu in the Wei and Jin Dynasties. When she read the line "I will be destined to the distant capital", she suddenly stopped.
I couldn't help but repeat this sentence quietly several times. Only I understood the secret buried in my heart.
"Tao Shuran."
There was a sudden knock on the window, and before Tao Shuran could react, a pair of clean fingers pushed open the window beside her.
Along with the chirping of cicadas from the lush greenery outside the window, Liang Yuanjing's face suddenly came close to the window.
The young man let out a light laugh and asked again, "Are you Tao Shuran?"
Tao Shuran nodded quickly, busy as always.
Her eyes were slightly out of focus, and she looked up at him blankly.
This was the first time Liang Yuanjing called her name.
And her heart was about to stop.
