Lin Jianxue also spoke at the right time.
"Su Zhi."
She paused and looked at Su Muyun gently.
"Aren't you still going to teach that little girl named Yi Yao how to box?"
"You're still neighbors."
"When the time comes, you two can finish your meal here together, and then you can take Yi Yao back with you, which will be convenient for you."
This is indeed a best of both worlds solution.
When Fu Qingqing heard this, she quickly joined in, pulling Su Muyun's sleeve and shaking it pitifully, her big eyes blinking.
"Yes, yes, Master!"
"Just stay at my house for dinner!"
"You don't want to take money, and you don't want to eat. I feel really bad about it!"
Su Muyun looked at the mother and her two children, as well as Lin Jianxue who was looking at him with a smile. A rare hint of hesitation appeared on his stern face.
He pursed his lips, seeming to find it difficult to speak.
"...Isn't that really too offensive?"
He paused, his voice lower than usual, with a hint of uncertainty.
"I...I have a big appetite..."
As soon as these words were spoken, the atmosphere in the yard became inexplicably relaxed.
Even Fu Zhawei, who had always been taciturn, seemed to curl up the corners of his lips almost imperceptibly.
Upon hearing this, Dong Yulan immediately showed a gentle and loving smile on her face, as if she was looking at her own junior.
"Hey, what's offensive about that!"
She waved her hand and said in a friendly tone, "We don't have any delicacies to treat you at home."
"They're just some ordinary meals, steamed buns, wild vegetable porridge, etc., plenty of them!"
She smiled and said, "How about staying here and trying it today?"
When Su Muyun heard this, a trace of embarrassment flashed across his face, and he subconsciously scratched the tip of his nose.
"No, Aunt Dong."
He shook his head: "I...I have to go back and make dinner for my grandma."
"Grandma is old and her eyesight isn't very bright anymore. She can't be left alone."
When Dong Yulan heard this was the reason, the warmth in her eyes deepened.
What a filial child.
She nodded immediately and said softly, "Okay, grandma is important, you should go back quickly."
After a pause, she seemed to remember something and added, "Then wait a moment."
After saying that, she turned around and walked quickly into the house.
Soon, Dong Yulan came out of the house, holding something carefully in her hand.
She walked up to Su Muyun and stuffed the two brown-skinned eggs in her hand into his.
In this era, eggs are precious and ordinary people are reluctant to eat them.
"Su Zhizhi, there's nothing at home."
Dong Yulan's voice was still gentle.
"These eggs were just laid by our own chickens. They are very fresh."
"Take it back and give your grandma some nourishment."
Su Muyun looked at the egg in his hand, was stunned for a moment, and then quickly declined.
"Aunt Dong, how can this be possible? I can't accept this!"
He fumbled to put the egg back into Dong Yulan's hand.
Dong Yulan insisted not to take it back and gently held his hand.
"Take it, kid. It's not worth much. It's just a token of my appreciation."
Seeing this, Su Muyun thought quickly. He glanced at Fu Zhawei who was silent beside him and quickly stuffed the egg into Fu Zhawei's arms.
Fu Zhawei was caught off guard and caught it subconsciously.
Then, Su Muyun quickly took a few steps back and reached the gate of the courtyard.
He waved at Dong Yulan.
"Aunt Dong, it's getting late. I'm going back first!"
"Qingqing's boxing, I'll come over to teach you after work this afternoon!"
"Hey, you kid—"
Dong Yulan wanted to say something, but Su Muyun had already run away like a gust of wind and disappeared in the blink of an eye.
She looked at the direction where Su Muyun disappeared and shook her head helplessly.
Then he turned around, looked at Lin Jianxue and Fu Zhewei, and asked in confusion:
"Doesn't Su Zhizhi look like a pretty good kid? He's polite, sensible, and filial."
"Why did you guys still say he was bad-tempered and cold when you came back yesterday?"
Lin Jianxue and Fu Zhawei subconsciously looked at each other, and saw the same helplessness and confusion in each other's eyes.
How could they know why Su Muyun suddenly changed his personality?
Dong Yulan's eyes inadvertently fell on the brand new suitcase in the corner of the yard.
"Ouch!"
She slapped her forehead lightly, a look of apology on her face.
"Look at my memory! I was so preoccupied with Su Zhizhi's affairs that I forgot that Xiaoxue, you had to move in today! This interruption almost delayed the main business."
She quickly greeted:
"Zhewei, Qingqing, hurry! Help Xiaoxue carry the suitcase into the house."
"I've asked Qingqing to clean up the east wing. Go make the bed."
Fu Zhawei responded calmly with a "hmm", took a long step, and walked silently to the suitcase.
He bent down, picked up the two suitcases, and walked towards the master bedroom.
Lin Jianxue hurried forward and thanked them softly, "Fu Zhewei, Aunt Dong, I'm sorry to have caused you so much trouble."
"Why are you being so polite? We're family, so we don't have to talk behind each other's backs." Dong Yulan smiled gently, holding Lin Jianxue's hand, with genuine joy in her eyes, "Come on, let's go inside and take a look. This will be your room from now on."
The door of the east wing was pushed open with a creaky sound.
The house was not big, and Dong Yulan had obviously moved all her things out and tidied it up very cleanly.
There was just an empty bed with a bare bed board, and next to it stood an old wardrobe with peeling paint and a slightly crooked door. Apart from that, there was nothing else.
Simple, but neat.
Fu Zhawei followed behind Lin Jianxue, glanced around the room, and spoke in a low voice.
"Can I help you spread out your things?"
His eyes fell on the two suitcases that Lin Jianxue brought.
Lin Jianxue turned around, curled the corners of her lips towards him, and spoke in a soft voice.
"Thank you."
Fu Qingqing also came over lively and patted his chest.
"And me! Sister Xiaoxue, my brother is clumsy, let me help you!"
Upon hearing this, Fu Zhawei just glanced at his sister indifferently, without saying a word, he walked over and opened one of Lin Jianxue's suitcases containing bedding.
Fu Qingqing assisted on the side, and the brother and sister cooperated well.
Fu Zhawei unfolded the quilt. His movements were not very skilled, but he was very serious, trying to make every corner flat.
Lin Jianxue stood quietly by and watched with a gentle gaze.
Soon the bed was made.
Brand new plain sheets, a neatly folded quilt, and a fluffy pillow.
"Yes."
Fu Zhawei stood up straight and clapped his hands, his voice still flat.
Lin Jianxue stood at the edge of the bed, looking at the newly renovated bed, a faint smile spreading across her eyes.
"Thanks."
She thanked him again, her voice soft.
Fu Zhewei's gaze swept across her smiling face, and then glanced at the bed behind her inconspicuously, his ears seemed to feel slightly hot.
He raised his hand and scratched the tip of his nose somewhat awkwardly.
An inexplicable emotion, mixed with a bit of secret joy and excitement, quietly spread in his heart.
Just like, this room and this bed have become different because of her arrival.
He cleared his throat, breaking the momentary silence.
"Then... tomorrow morning, I'll accompany you to find Carpenter Wang?"
