Chapter 272 The Guardian

She covered her head, as if trying hard to remember something.

"I...I think I was drawing...then Xiao Hei came back, and then..."

Recalling the last painful scene, the girl shuddered and stared wide-eyed as if waking from a dream.

He shook his arms and took two deep breaths.

The strong resistance and the flowing water, along with the salty smell, it really is the sea!

She quickly touched her neck again, and sure enough, the gills were still there; it wasn't her hallucination.

But why do I have fish gills?

A sense of panic suddenly overwhelmed her. She looked around and found that she was surrounded by the seabed filled with seawater.

A sense of helplessness, of being abandoned by the world, also spread throughout the body.

The girl's chest heaved violently as her mind raced, trying to figure out what had happened.

Just then, the girl caught a glimpse out of the corner of her eye that something huge seemed to be swimming in through the entrance.

She looked in that direction, and her heart jumped into her throat.

There, a very strange shark was swimming toward them, roaring.

What's strange is that this shark is longer than a typical shark and it doesn't have fins.

Two enormous shark fins were positioned behind it like wings, and two long black lines encircled its body around its eyes.

And they're ridiculously large!

Even the gate, which is over ten meters high, could only barely allow it to pass through.

"Guardian! That, that, that's it!"

Next to the shark, the fishman teacher kept pointing to the girl's location.

The shark took a closer look, opened its mouth wide, and swam over with a burst of speed.

The girl's heart stopped abruptly, and she frantically stepped on a nearby rock, struggling to swim in another direction.

boom!

The shark's massive body crashed into the spot where the girl had been standing.

The rocks there, which were already disintegrating, were smashed to pieces like tofu, turning into pebbles that drifted in the water.

Seeing this terrifying destructive power intensified the girl's fear. Under the threat of death, her body seemed to have inexhaustible strength, and she kept swimming deeper into the water.

The shark shook its head and continued chasing the girl.

Although the shark was enormous, it was incredibly fast; in comparison, the girl swam at a snail's pace.

In the blink of an eye, the shark was about to catch up with the girl.

The girl turned around and saw the terrifying gaping maw, which actually cleared her head.

She made a sharp turn and hid behind one of the fossils.

The shark initially intended to crash into the rock, but upon seeing it clearly, it stopped, a conflicted look appearing in its eyes.

Upon seeing this, the girl was delighted and nimbly moved between the various exhibits.

Although the shark was fast and agile, it dared not go all out in pursuit in order not to damage these 'artifacts'.

The distance between the two gradually increased.

The girl's chest heaved, and she knew she couldn't hold on like this for long; she had to think of a way.

Just then, a huge stone mountain appeared in front of them, and a tunnel was cut into the stone mountain.

This tunnel is only big enough for one person to enter.

The girl immediately saw hope and swam with all her might into the tunnel.

The shark immediately saw through the girl's thoughts and, without thinking twice, pounced on her at full speed.

Just as the shark was about to bite the girl, she slipped into the tunnel.

With a muffled thud, the shark's massive head slammed into the entrance, causing the entire mountain to tremble slightly.

The girl collapsed to the ground, letting out a sharp sigh of relief.

I touched my chest and was surprised to find that my heart wasn't beating that fast.

At the same time, she also discovered why she could swim so fast!

I used to be unable to even run, and I would get dizzy if I walked for a while, but I ran like crazy for half a day and now I'm perfectly fine.

But she didn't have time to think about that now. She slowly turned around, wanting to see the shark.

The moment she turned her head, what she saw almost made the girl scream.

A swirling blue light enveloped the shark, which seemed to melt into a puddle of water and then form a robust human shape!

His jet-black hair swayed gently, and his entire body was incredibly muscular, yet still aesthetically pleasing.

A pair of enormous shark fins grew from its back like wings, and two black lines ran from the top of its head through its eyes and down to its neck.

The mermaid pierced the girl like a sharp sword, and with a gentle clench of her hand, a spear made of seawater appeared in her grasp.

His speed was incredible; he arrived in front of the girl in the blink of an eye and thrust his sword down!

"ah--!"

The girl screamed and closed her eyes tightly in fear.

The next moment...

The fishman's pupils contracted instantly, and his entire body froze in the water as if a pause button had been pressed.

Seeing that there was no response for a long time, the girl mustered up her courage and opened her eyes.

But seeing this scene before it, it even forgot its fear.

All she could see was her small, pale hand gripping the spear that was thrusting at her.

The arm, which looked like it would break at the slightest touch, seemed to be filled with endless power, and no matter how hard the fishman tried, he could not budge it in the slightest.

"Get out of here—!!!"

A furious roar came.

The hand gripping it suddenly tightened, and the water-based spear instantly burst, turning into wisps of water that dissipated into the sea.

The powerful force sent the fishman flying.

He steadied himself and looked at the girl in horror, only to see that her expression was equally terrified.

The girl's right hand, with a pair of scarlet eyes and a mouth growing from her arm, stared intently at the fishman.

An unprecedented sense of oppression enveloped his entire body, instantly freezing the fishman in place, his fish fins trembling slightly.

The fishman could clearly sense that if he dared to move even slightly, his head would instantly turn into minced meat.

The girl slumped to the ground, too afraid to move. She found that her right hand seemed to have lost its control, as if it had been taken from her.

At that moment, the seawater seemed to stop flowing, and apart from the two of them pounding their hearts, there was only the slightly trembling fingers and shark fin.

After an unknown amount of time, the girl slowly felt that she had regained control of her right hand.

She quickly raised her right hand.

The eyes and mouth that once stood there had disappeared sometime ago, leaving only a patch of snow-white skin.

Everything that just happened felt like an illusion, as if nothing had ever occurred.

But the merman, still in a daze, told the girl that everything that had just happened was absolutely real.

The fishman, having recovered from his fear, looked at the girl with a hint of apprehension.

The girl then realized her predicament and kept moving backward until she bumped into a wall.
