The elevator doors slowly opened, and Hera stepped out, leading Ekalen to a very inconspicuous room.
Squeak—
"Yeah, boss, you're here."
Hera pushed open the door and entered, where she saw Thoth sitting in front of the computer and Will fast asleep on the bed.
"Mmm." Hera nodded and led Ekalen inside.
Thoth noticed a strange look in Ekalen's eyes behind her glasses.
"Hey Aikaren, where did you go? I woke up to find you gone."
Aikalen blushed and became embarrassed.
"Uh... I accidentally got taken to the police station."
"Hmm?" Thoth's eyes showed even more doubt, and before he could ask any more questions, Hera leaned closer.
"Have you found out about that [Soul Stealing] ability?"
As he spoke, he looked at the computer screen.
Seeing this, Toth and Ekalen stopped talking about that topic.
“Found it.” Thoth pushed up his glasses. “It’s an ability that’s both very strong and very weak.”
"Both very strong and very weak?"
Aikalen was a little confused and scratched her head.
“That’s right.” Tort nodded.
"The strength of this ability lies in the fact that it can preserve the souls of the creatures you kill, and they retain about 80% of their original combat strength."
"Isn't that pretty impressive?" Aikaren asked, puzzled.
Thoth smiled helplessly, "If that's all there is to it, it is indeed quite impressive, but these souls all possess independent consciousness and are completely uncontrollable."
"Huh?" Aikaren was slightly taken aback.
"Simply put, these dead souls can selectively become the power of the ability users, but since they were killed by the ability users, most of them harbor resentment towards them and will not become their power."
"However, according to the boss, that is, after all, the ultimate human combat power. It is likely that some method was used to make many powerful souls become his power."
Thoth had been talking for so long, and Hera had been nodding and agreeing the whole time. Whether she had actually listened to him was another matter entirely.
"So how exactly do we defeat him?" Hera finally asked the question that concerned her most, not forgetting her original intention.
However, Toth's brows furrowed slightly, and he looked somewhat troubled.
"I'm afraid it will be difficult."
"The ability to steal souls is to keep the souls around the user as if they were guardian spirits. More importantly, no one but the user can see or touch those souls."
"These souls can interact with the outside world and attack enemies."
Hera nodded slightly. "So they can hit me, but I can't hit them."
"That's right, at least that's how it is with normal attacks, unless you can directly attack the soul."
As he spoke, Thoth sighed, "Right now, I'm trying to figure out how to attack the soul."
He moved the mouse, browsing through the files on the computer.
"But after searching for almost a day, there are still no cases of attacks on the soul. At most, there are people who can use the soul as their own power to attack, but whether such attacks are effective against other souls is unknown."
"Attack the soul..."
Aikaren lowered his head slightly, seemingly lost in thought.
"Well, I might be able to..."
Hera and Thoth turned to him and said in unison, "Really?"
Aikalen nodded, opened his hand upwards, and a seemingly ordinary pixelated knife slowly appeared in his palm.
"My weapon can kill anything, and as for souls... if it's as I understand it, it should be able to as well."
After he finished speaking, blue pixels, like flames, suddenly appeared on his right eye.
"And I can also see souls."
In Ekaren's view, Hera and Thoth each have a pixelated heart of a different color inside their bodies.
Thoth was white with a slight reddish tinge, while Hera's was an extremely scarlet heart, much larger in size, and constantly darting around in various parts of her body.
This made Aikalen, who had seen countless souls, swallow hard.
Hera's eyes lit up instantly, her pupils turning into star shapes, but she remained expressionless.
"Alright, then you can deal with him."
Hera patted Ekaren on the shoulder, entrusting him with such an important task, and then her pupils returned to their round shape.
However, Tote, who was standing next to him, seemed a little worried.
"But the opponent is also at the limit of human combat power. Can Aikalen handle it alone?"
Hera lowered her head and thought for a moment, then looked up at Ekaren with her big, watery eyes.
Will we win?
“This…” Ekalen’s eyes darted around uncertainly.
To be honest, he didn't have much confidence, not for any other reason, but entirely due to his deep-seated inferiority complex.
Actually, upon closer reflection, he didn't have many impressive achievements to his name.
He has almost never won against any powerful opponent in a one-on-one fight.
Even when facing Ye Linwan, who was also at the pinnacle of human combat power, Aikaren could only cut off one of her spider legs before fleeing in panic.
Ekalen doesn't even consider herself to be a true human at the pinnacle of combat power, so she has extremely little confidence in this regard.
However, the moment his eyes met Hera's, an indescribable emotion surged through him.
This feeling made him want to fulfill all of Hera's requests no matter what.
"We will...we will win! We absolutely will!"
"Okay, that's good." Hera nodded in satisfaction and patted him on the shoulder.
