Hera sat at the table in the private room, swinging her legs while popping snacks into her mouth.
After finishing all the snacks on the table, Hera reached into her stomach and pulled out several strangely shaped weapons to examine.
Another private room.
Yu Liu leaned against the window with her eyes tightly closed.
The next moment, he suddenly opened his tightly closed eyes, looked at the closed door, and slowly reached into his pocket, pulling out a Desert Eagle.
He pointed his pistol at the door and approached slowly with silent steps.
Yu Liu stopped when the muzzle of the gun was pressed against the door, holding his breath and listening carefully to the sounds outside.
Several extremely faint footsteps could be heard slowly approaching from outside the door.
If it weren't for Yu Liu's exceptional senses honed through years of working as a mercenary, he probably wouldn't have heard such a subtle sound at all.
At the same time, he also determined that the other party was either a professional assassin or a mercenary like himself.
Judging from the footsteps outside, there was more than one person coming.
Since their strength is still unknown, Yu Liu dares not make any rash moves.
They could only roughly aim their gun at the other person's position through the door, ready to shoot them at any moment.
Just then, the footsteps separated, and Yu Liu realized that there were actually three people coming.
They walked separately to their own, Hera's, and Thoth's private rooms, clearly having already divided up their tasks.
"Damn it, we've been targeted."
Yu Liu cursed inwardly, slowly placing his finger on the trigger while his other hand gripped the flashbang at his waist.
The footsteps outside the door stopped in front of his own door. Without any hesitation, Yu Liu pulled the trigger.
Bang—!!!
A burst of fire erupted from the short gun barrel, carrying a supersonic bullet that pierced the wooden door, blasting the person behind it to smithereens.
Wood chips and blood mist, along with the flames, bombarded the opposite wall.
Seeing that he had killed the other person with a single shot, Yu Liu did not hesitate at all. He lunged forward, rolled, and rushed out.
Suddenly, he pointed the still-smoking gun at Tote's doorway.
The mercenary, who had already placed his hand on the doorknob at the entrance of Tote, stared blankly at this scene.
Before he could react, a bullet, carrying immense kinetic energy, blasted his upper body into pieces.
Having done all this, he didn't stop, and turned his gaze back to Hera's private room.
But seeing the door already open, Yu Liu felt a sense of foreboding.
He quickly pulled a flashbang from his waist and threw it directly into Hera's room.
He covered his eyes, grabbed his gun, and rushed inside.
"Don't move!"
Yu Liu shouted and pointed his gun at the only sound he could hear.
Hera, who was gnawing on meat, suddenly stopped and raised her hands, which were holding her head, above her head.
Yu Liu lowered his hand from his eyes, stared at the scene before him, and was stunned.
Hera's hands and mouth were covered in blood, and a head lay on her legs.
His head still bore an excited expression, perhaps believing he was about to succeed until his death.
"You... solved it yourself?"
"Mmm." Hera nodded twice, chewing on some meat.
"He was at the 'Ten Thousand Stars' realm, so we didn't damage his body; we kept it to eat."
After saying that, Hera cupped her head and took a bite.
"Keep his head for now, don't eat it."
"Why."
"It will be useful later."
Yu Liu put away his gun, sat down wearily at the table where Hera was sitting, and took out a cigarette to smoke.
"call--"
As he exhaled a puff of smoke, Yu Liu's expression became extremely solemn.
"What's wrong? What happened?"
Thoth pushed open the door and frowned as he looked at the scene before him.
He glanced at Hera and Yuliu again, and seeing that they were both alright, he asked them what was wrong.
"What's going on? Is someone watching us?"
Yu Liu took another drag of his cigarette, then stubbed it out, put it in his pocket, and stood up abruptly.
“We are indeed being targeted; someone has hired mercenaries to kill us.”
"Should we leave now?"
Thoth glanced back at Will, who was huddled on the bed trembling, and at his own computer screen, which was still flickering.
“Yes, we are indeed retreating, but before that, I think we should first find out who wants to kill us.”
Yu Liu took out his phone and opened an encrypted website.
"This is a website on the dark web specifically used to hire people with superpowers. That's where I work as a mercenary."
“Wait a minute.” Hera suddenly noticed the problem. “You’re a member of the Light God Society, you’re not short of money, so why do you still want to be a mercenary?”
"Personal pursuits".
"oh."
Then, he turned on the front-facing camera and pointed it at his head where he had been bitten.
"【X】Check this mercenary's information on the dark web, and then find out who hired him for this mission."
His phone screen flickered, and after a moment, it turned into a large red X.
"OK……"
The X flickered slightly, and then all of the person's information popped up on the screen.
"We've found all the information about this person, but due to the nature of the dark web and the fact that the person who hired them used a virtual account, I'm unable to find their information..."
As if he had expected this, Yu Liu casually turned off his phone screen and put it in his pocket.
I glanced at the night sky outside the window, which had turned pitch black again, walked over, and opened the window.
"Let's retreat. They already know our location. It's best to avoid them when we don't know who they are."
