Xinglan walked down the street, patted her stomach, and let out a satisfied burp.
Nanming, who was walking in front of her, glanced at his empty wallet and then at the incredibly slender Xinglan behind him, and fell into deep thought.
How can Xinglan, with such a small body, eat so much? Her meal in one sitting is almost as much as the entire team's daily meals.
Nanming sighed softly. It seemed that food expenses would be a huge burden from now on.
"Oh, right, where is our special investigation team's secret base?" Xinglan looked around.
Then, as if suddenly remembering something, she suddenly saw stars.
"I understand!"
Our secret base must be hidden somewhere, right? Like, hidden as an agency or something!
Xinglan was excited, as if she had discovered some great secret!
"Well, that's not entirely wrong. Our base did have a little bit of disguise." Nanming replied somewhat awkwardly, looking at Xinglan who was excited like a child.
Upon hearing the affirmative answer, Xinglan became even more excited, chattering incessantly the whole way, like someone chanting a mantra.
Si Xiaobei was completely confused by what he was saying, and even Nan Ming had a headache.
After listening to Xinglan's nagging for nearly twenty minutes, they finally arrived at their destination.
Nanming stopped and pointed to the building opposite him, saying, "We've arrived."
Xinglan looked in the direction he pointed and saw a sign on the building that read "Xingxing Hair Salon" in large characters, with the words "You are trustworthy!" written next to it.
Si Xiaobei lowered her head silently, blushing slightly.
Xinglan rushed straight in.
Southern Ming: ?!
Si Xiaobei: Σ(*?д??)?
This isn't right. Shouldn't she have complained a bit? Or at least stood there for a while? Why did she just rush in?
Xinglan suddenly opened the two large doors, stood at the entrance, and struck what she thought was a very glamorous pose.
"Night Star, Star Blue! Reporting for duty!"
Xinglan closed her eyes and opened her arms, waiting for the cheers from the people inside the room.
But after a long while, there was still a deathly silence.
So she slowly opened her eyes.
Then, what came into view was a neat barbershop, where a boy holding clippers was blowing bubble gum and staring blankly at Xinglan, while the clippers in his hand were still moving forward unconsciously.
Slowly, he shaved the equally stunned older brother in his seat until he had a receding hairline.
The man in the seat felt a chill on his head and turned to look in the mirror.
Then, a loud bang, comparable to a nuclear explosion, came from inside the barbershop.
"My hair—!!"
Ten minutes later.
The man, wearing a hat, stormed off, cursing as he went.
"I'm never getting my hair cut here again!"
Feng Xuan could only keep bowing and apologizing to the other side: "I'm sorry, I'm sorry, it was my mistake, it was my mistake!"
Feng Xuan didn't raise his head until the guest disappeared from everyone's sight.
He looked at Nanming and his men with eyes that seemed to want to devour them, as if he wanted to kick them into a bald spot the next moment.
"Who was yelling like that just now?! I had to pay them two hundred yuan!"
Two hundred yuan! That's almost enough for me to buy a new pair of headphones!
"It's...it's me." Xinglan slowly walked out, her head bowed like a child who had done something wrong.
"Why are you shouting if you're alright! Do you know how much damage you've caused me?!"
"Uh, I'm... I'm sorry."
"I'm sorry! You have to compensate me if I need anything... Hey?" Before he could finish speaking, Feng Xuan suddenly stopped looking at Xing Lan's appearance.
What's your name?
“Xing… Xinglan.” Xinglan answered him somewhat nervously.
“Xing Lan?! Is she new?” Feng Xuan looked at Nan Ming and Si Xiaobei, who nodded repeatedly.
Why didn't you two tell me that earlier?
"Seeing how fiercely you're scolding me, I'm a little afraid to speak up," Nanming said, scratching his face sheepishly.
"..."
Xinglan, who was standing to the side, seemed to come back to life after hearing their words.
"So you're also part of the special investigation team?!" Xinglan leaned close to Fengxuan, almost face to face, and asked him.
"Ah... um... um, yes." Feng Xuan's cheeks flushed slightly; this time, it was his turn to be at a loss.
"Oh, I see! I thought I went to the wrong store." Xinglan looked relieved, then looked at Fengxuan, straightened her back, and confidently introduced herself to him.
"My name is Xinglan! I'm 19 years old! My ability is..."
"Stop!" Before she could finish speaking, Feng Xuan stopped her.
"Don't talk about this now. You can tell us slowly when you see the captain later." After saying that, he walked towards the stairs somewhat hastily.
Xinglan glanced at Nanming and the others, who nodded and headed towards the stairs. Xinglan naturally followed them.
"By the way, who's your captain? Aren't you the captain? I thought you were the captain. Where are we going today? Are we going to the hidden area?" Xinglan kept asking the three of them.
"Alright, Miss Xinglan, I know you're in a hurry, but don't rush! You'll know once we get there!" Feng Xuan finally spoke up, unable to bear her nagging any longer.
"Oh~" Xinglan replied casually.
They walked down the stairs, the light growing dimmer, but Xinglan's heart grew more and more excited.
When they finally arrived at their destination, Xinglan was so excited that she almost took off!
This is a huge basement, about the size of two football fields. It contains all sorts of equipment and other rooms, but there is still a lot of empty space.
"Wow! Sure enough! A must-have in the secret base! Is this where you usually train?!" Xinglan looked around excitedly.
I wish I could turn this place upside down.
Feng Xuan looked at Xing Lan, who was running around like a child, and then looked at Nan Ming with a strange expression.
"He clearly has the face and figure of a mature woman, so why does he look like a child?!" Feng Xuan was on the verge of tears, and Nan Ming didn't know how to answer either.
Suddenly, Si Xiaobei, who was standing to the side, seemed to sense something and shouted into the darkness ahead, "Captain! You've come!"
Upon hearing this, everyone else, including Xinglan, looked in that direction.
A figure in a black coat slowly emerged from the darkness, his expression cold and indifferent, like an assassin.
"Captain!" Si Xiaobei waved excitedly to Sun Hai.
Sun Hai nodded, then looked at Xing Lan.
Xinglan immediately stood at attention, her expression instantly turning serious, though she looked a bit stiff.
Sun Hai, however, didn't seem to care and slowly said, "You're the newcomer, right?"
“Yes! Are you the captain here?” Xinglan asked in return.
Sun Hai didn't answer her, but continued slowly, "I know your name. Now tell me, are you an Awakened One or a Symbiote?"
