Chapter 24 Star Blue

In D City, a not-so-prosperous second-tier city, a young but very mature face is looking out at the bustling world through the glass of a coffee shop.

He picked up a steaming cup of coffee, took a small sip, and then slowly put it down, as if the outside world had nothing to do with him.

"Brother Nanming, their strawberry cake is so delicious!"

You should try some too!

Si Xiaobei, sitting opposite him, excitedly handed a spoonful of strawberry cake to Nanming, who was showing off, her eyes sparkling.

Nanming turned away helplessly.

Seeing Si Xiaobei's excited face, he smiled and finally ate the cake in front of him in one bite.

"Right, Brother Nanming? It's delicious! Isn't it!"

Si Xiaobei looked at Nanming with expectant eyes, as excited as a child.

"Yes, it is indeed delicious. You should eat more." Nanming replied gently to Si Xiaobei, then continued to look out the window, as if waiting for someone.

"Hehe, okay, big brother, I'll keep eating then."

Si Xiaobei scooped up a spoonful of cake, just about to put it in her mouth, when she suddenly seemed to sense something.

The spoon stopped in mid-air.

Si Xiaobei stood up, looked into the distance, and suddenly smiled.

"Brother Nanming! She's coming!"

"How much further?" Nanming asked calmly.

"Hmm... we haven't reached the visible range yet, but I estimate we'll be there in about ten minutes at most," Si Xiaobei replied after a moment's thought.

"Okay, let's wait." After saying that, Nanming took another sip of coffee.

Si Xiaobei also sat down and continued eating her cake.

"Brother Nanming, may I have a sip of your coffee?"

"Okay, thank you, Brother Nanming!"

"Pfft—! It's so bitter!"

Ten minutes later.

The door to the coffee shop was pushed open, and a woman slowly walked in.

"Welcome, light..."

The waiter paused mid-sentence, unsure of what to say.

Because the woman who just entered was dressed in a rather... conspicuous way.

He was wearing a black overcoat, a fedora, a black face mask, and sunglasses, and was carrying a briefcase.

It's clear she was trying to conceal her identity, but this kind of equipment only attracted more attention.

The woman, however, ignored the strange looks from the receptionist and walked straight into the store.

She entered the shop and looked around, eventually fixing her gaze on the table where Nanming was sitting. But after only one glance, she immediately looked away, afraid that others would notice.

Si Xiaobei, who witnessed everything from his seat, watched the woman's bewildering actions, his mind racing.

Finally, Si Xiaobei recognized the woman and excitedly waved to her, saying, "Here I am!"

The woman seemed to have heard this as well, and walked straight to the seats where Nanming and the others were sitting...

The seat next to it.

Si Xiaobei: Huh??_?

Si Xiaobei looked at the woman sitting back to back with him with a puzzled expression.

He turned around and asked the woman with a puzzled look:

"Um...excuse me, are you Miss Xinglan?"

"Cough! Cough!"

Upon hearing this, the woman immediately coughed twice seriously, as if reminding Si Xiaobei of something.

After pausing for a few seconds, Si Xiaobei seemed to understand what she meant and immediately turned back around.

"Special...Special Investigation Team member, Si...Si Xiaobei!"

"Night Star, Star Blue."

Xinglan lowered her voice, replying with a tone that was eight parts serious and two parts excited.

Si Xiaobei's eyes lit up with joy upon hearing this, but she became nervous again and looked to Nanming for help.

Nanming, watching the two's antics, sighed and rubbed his forehead, speechless.

"Well, Miss Xinglan, Night Star and the superhumans aren't some evil organization. You don't need to be so secretive."

Xinglan on the other side nodded slightly upon hearing this, and then fell silent again.

"What?! You don't need to do that!"

"ah!"

After a few seconds of silence, Xinglan suddenly stood up abruptly, her sunglasses falling off, her bright blue eyes wide open like copper bells.

"Uh, sit down first. Although there's no need to hide, aren't you attracting a bit too much attention?"

Upon hearing Nanming's words, Xinglan looked around and found that everyone in the coffee shop, including the dozen or so waiters, was staring at them.

Everyone's expression was different, yet vastly different.

Some people were whispering among themselves.

"Do you think they're filming some kind of short video or something?"

"It's possible. There might actually be a hidden camera filming somewhere."

"Then let's hurry up and go."

"Hello, is this 120? I've found a mentally ill person here, seems to have schizophrenia, and I feel unsafe. Please call someone over immediately..."

At this moment, Nanming still held his forehead, covering most of his face, his expression extremely complicated.

Si Xiaobei, who had just been startled by Xinglan, blushed and buried her face in the table, wishing she could disappear into a crack in the ground.

Noticing so many eyes on her, Xinglan blushed and immediately sat back down properly, as if nothing had happened.

"Ahem, ahem, that Xinglan, right?"

Nanming raised his head and looked at Xinglan, whose cheeks were slightly flushed, and asked seriously.

"yes!"

"age?"

Nineteen years old!

"Are you here to join the special investigation team?"
