Chapter 214 You are our best child

"Oh, okay... actually what I wanted to say was, um..."

Effie lowered her head, thought for a moment, then looked at Aikalen and tried to force a smile.

"I know you are usually very insecure, just like me, and feel that you are not worthy of pursuing love at all."

She also felt that the person she liked could never like someone like her.

but……"

Effie's gaze suddenly hardened.

"But what if the person you like likes you back?"

She might not care at all that you stay home all day eating instant noodles, or that you've accomplished nothing.

And you don't need to try to change or pretend anything for her.

So...we need to be brave!

Aikaren lowered her head, stroking the scarf around her neck, and a burning heart seemed to begin to beat.

"That's right!"

Fish Sister picked up Effie in one swift motion, then, with a standard basketball shot, tossed her into a nearby trash can that had appeared out of nowhere.

"Take the person you like on a date to the junkyard, just like he and I did!"

That will definitely succeed, right?!

Effie poked her head out of the trash can. "Uh, I guess so."

"Haha, see that! Okay, I'm going to take him to cook!"

After saying that, Sister Fish picked up the trash can and left.

Seeing the two of them leave, Ekalen finally couldn't help but ask Sans,

"Sans, what's going on? Did you arrange for them to come and comfort me?"

Aikaren stroked the scarf around her neck, looking at the other person with a puzzled expression.

Sans mischievously closed one eye, "We'll be there soon, I'll tell you then."

Aikalen sighed helplessly, "Fine."

Aikaren followed the other person as they continued through the dense jungle.

As she walked, Aikaren heard the melodious chirping of birds around her, and her expression instantly turned strange.

"Hey, alright, that's all I can take you this far. You'll have to walk the rest of the way yourself."

Before Ekalen could ask a question, Sans stopped and pointed ahead.

Aikaren looked in the direction he was pointing and froze on the spot.

Ahead was a large tree without any leaves, but this tree was pixelated, as if it had been cut out of a game.

Behind the big tree is a cozy little house, also made of pixels.

The entrance to the cottage was filled with small yellow flowers.

A tall figure wearing a cloak is carefully watering the small flowers with a watering can.

Aikalen touched the big tree with some disbelief, then walked towards the figure.

Hearing the noise, the tall figure put down the kettle and turned to look.

A monster with the appearance of a sheep and a kind face appeared before Aikaren.

Upon seeing Aikalen, the other person gave her an extremely gentle and kind smile.

"Oh, my child, you have come."

Aikalen nodded, looking at everything with a somewhat bewildered expression.

"Dad, what's going on?"

Why is your home here?

The father didn't answer him, but instead turned and pushed open the door.

"Come inside, Toriel has prepared a cinnamon pie for you."

Aikaren nodded blankly and slowly followed him into the house.

After entering the house, they turned left and entered a place that resembled a living room.

The living room doesn't look big, but it's very cozy.

In front of the burning fireplace was a sofa, and next to it was a bookshelf filled with books.

In the very center of the room was a large round table and four stools.

"Huh? You're back so soon? I thought I'd have to wait a while."

A gentle voice came from the kitchen.

Then a sheep-like monster came out carrying a plate of pie.

Upon seeing Aikaren, a look of shock flashed in his eyes, followed by heartache.

She placed the pie on the table, then quickly walked over to Aikaren.

"My poor child, you must be so tired. I'm so sorry for making you suffer."

As he spoke, he gently patted Aikalen's head with his warm hand.

That hand, though made of pixels, felt incredibly warm.

All of Aikaren's worries vanished, and she felt a lump in her throat as she experienced a warmth she hadn't felt in a long time.

"Alright, child, you must be starving. Come and eat."

Mother Goat let go of her hand and pulled Aikaren to sit down at the table.

He handed the pie to him and gave him a spoon, while also scolding the sheep's father.

"Honestly, you should be more concerned about the child."

"Um, I'm sorry..."

Ekalen sat on the bench, looking at the cinnamon pie made entirely of pixels in front of her.

For some reason, he picked up a spoon, scooped up a spoonful, and put it in his mouth.

As expected, it's pixelated; apart from a faint milky aroma, it has no taste whatsoever, and even the texture is like eating building blocks.

Despite how difficult it was to eat, Aikaren found it incredibly delicious at that moment.

He scooped up the pie with a spoon and put it into his mouth one bite at a time.

Tears streamed down his face without him even realizing it, dripping incessantly.

By the time he finished the entire pie, tears had already soaked half of his face.

The sheep's mother and father walked up behind her and gently hugged her.

"It's okay, child, home will always be there for you."

Ekalen could no longer hold back, turned around and hugged the two of them tightly, tears streaming down her face.
