Chapter 33 Shopping

The clock on the wall kept ticking, and the sunlight outside the window began to dim.

Hera sat alone at the table, flipping through "The Complete Guide to Early Childhood Literacy" and diligently studying.

Suddenly a noise came from the roof, and Hera looked up at the ceiling.

The ceiling trembled slightly, as if something large had stopped, followed by a series of noisy footsteps.

One of them, the fastest, had already gone downstairs.

"Hey hey! Triumphant return! Hera, did you miss me?" Xinglan pushed open the door, rushed over and hugged Hera tightly, rubbing her cheek against hers.

The rest of the people also came in one after another.

"Hera, let me tell you, that alien elder has gone into hiding. It took me ages to find him!"

In the end, I still managed to find her! After finding her, I just slashed her twice! She didn't even have time to resist before I killed her! Xinglan waved her hands and vividly described her glorious achievements.

"You have the nerve to say that? You discovered a mutant without telling us first, and you didn't even know what level it was before you attacked. Luckily, it was just a 'Beast King' level mutant. What if it had been some powerful mutant that injured you?" Feng Xuan held his phone and looked at Xing Lan with a slight frown.

Xinglan smiled slightly awkwardly, "Oh, I know, I know. This isn't my first mission, I was just a little excited. Don't worry, it won't happen again next time."

Feng Xuan sighed, while Si Xiaobei beside him looked happy. "But this mission, none of us were injured, which is really great." She then smiled brightly.

Hera, who was being held by Xinglan, suddenly heard a sound of resistance from her stomach and looked up at Xinglan.

"Oh, right, I haven't even had lunch yet, I'm starving." Xinglan rubbed her stomach, and Liu Xiaogang's stomach growled beside her.

"Yes, I'm hungry too."

Nanming put down his weapon and headed towards the kitchen, but then he seemed to suddenly remember something and turned back to look at Hera. "Hera is alone in the house, she probably hasn't eaten either."

"Oh right! I forgot to prepare food for Hera." Xinglan suddenly realized that she had forgotten to prepare food for Hera.

"Looks like we'll have to make a lot more for dinner tonight." Nanming put on his apron and started getting busy in the kitchen.

"Brother Nanming, let me help you." Si Xiaobei also put on a small duck apron and began to assist Nanming.

...

After dinner, Xinglan comfortably lay down on the bed wearing Stitch pajamas.

"I've been busy all day, I can finally rest~" Xinglan stretched and then touched her slightly bulging belly from eating too much.

Then, as if suddenly remembering something, she sat up in bed and jumped onto Hera's bed.

Then he gently touched Hera's belly. "Hey, that's strange. You eat more than me, but your belly hasn't gotten any bigger."

"Where did you eat your food?" Xinglan looked up and met Hera's eyes.

Looking into those clear yet foolish eyes, Xinglan finally gave up on finding the answer.

She lay down next to Hera and pulled the blanket over herself. "Hehe, since we're already here, let's continue sleeping together."

Xinglan hugged Hera and rubbed her face against her. "It's so good to have you. You can sleep with me at night. Otherwise, I really can't sleep alone at night."

Xinglan shifted her body, moving a little closer to Hera.

"Goodnight~" Xinglan whispered in Hera's ear, then closed her eyes and fell into a deep sleep. Hera also slowly closed her eyes.

...

"This sausage is so delicious, you should try it!" Xinglan gnawed on a sausage and stuffed another one directly into Hera's mouth.

"Wow, there are so many beautiful things over there! Let's go take a look."

Hera had just finished eating the sausage in her mouth when Xinglan grabbed her hand and pulled her to run in the other direction.

Xinglan and Hera have been living here for a month now, and this month has been incredibly busy.

In addition to getting up early every day for training, I also frequently go on missions. In just this month, I have already gone on six missions.

Moreover, each investigation mission takes quite a while; half a day to a day is considered short, and the longest one lasted a whole week.

Fortunately, they had prepared enough food in advance for Hera to eat for a week; otherwise, Hera would probably have been starving by the time they returned.

Hera has also made rapid progress under Si Xiaobei's patient guidance over the past month.

Not only can they fully understand what others are saying, but they can also roughly express their own meaning.

Today, Xinglan took some of her rare free time to go shopping with Hera, intending to relax a bit.

Xinglan held Hera's hand as they strolled along the bustling street, her other hand holding a half-finished cup of milk tea.

"It feels like we've been walking around for ages, shouldn't we head back?" Xinglan finished the rest of her milk tea in one gulp and tossed it into the trash can before taking out her phone.

I pressed the power button twice, but the phone screen remained completely black. "No, no way..."

Xinglan's lips trembled slightly as she tried to turn the phone on again, but the screen remained black.

"Ah, my phone died and shut down!" Xinglan cried out in frustration, clutching her head and shaking it repeatedly.

But she had to admit that her phone had run out of battery and shut down.

Xinglan's hands hung limply, like a deflated balloon, as she looked helplessly at Hera, "Do you know the way back...?"

Hera honestly shook her head.

Xinglan was even more dejected. She got up and looked around, then despaired, "How come there isn't even a single shared power bank on this big street!"
