Chapter 229 Closing the City

Fran's lips twitched. "What a cruel method..."

Then, he turned to look at the crow man lying on the ground, groaning in pain, who had heard their entire conversation.

When the crow-man saw the two turn to look at him, his body trembled violently.

The face on the mask was soaked with cold sweat, clinging tightly to the mask.

"I'll ask you one more time, how did you know our leader is [Life]?"

Fran gripped the knife handle and twisted it gently.

The crow man cried out in pain.

"I'll talk, I'll talk!"

Fran stopped writhing and stared at him coldly. "Speak."

The crow-man took a couple of breaths, then spoke, panting.

"Because our boss, his order to me was to seize [life]..."

He didn't tell me much about what "life" was, only that he was a mutant who could change his appearance and possessed powerful life force.

Both of them frowned simultaneously.

"What is your boss? What does he look like?"

Aikalen had a guess in her mind, and asked.

The crow-man trembled and shook his head.

No, I don't know.

I don't know if our boss is a human or a ghost...

All I know is that he's incredibly skilled!

The crow-man swallowed hard, recalling his boss's terrifying strength.

"Our boss, his whole body looks like it was stitched together with needles, his body was made by stitching together different people's flesh."

Not long ago, they even touched my hand..."

"It really was him!"

Listening to the raven man's description, Ekalen confirmed that the boss he spoke of had indeed attacked Hera's [Autumn].

Hera has already informed all her subordinates about the information regarding [Autumn].

Therefore, Fran also knew who it was.

"Where is he now?" Fran asked.

"I...I don't know..."

The crow man's fearful reply.

Upon seeing Fran's icy gaze, he was so frightened that he quickly swore an oath.

"I really don't know! All I know is that the boss came back severely injured."

After I cut my hand for him, he disappeared somewhere, muttering to himself...

Oh, right!

The crow-man suddenly remembered something.

“I heard him say something as he left… ‘they’.”

Moreover, I've heard that the boss has accomplices; he might have gone to find them!

The crow man told the two everything he knew.

He was afraid that either Fran or Ekalen might get upset and kill him.

Upon hearing the information provided by the crow man, the two men's already furrowed brows furrowed even more.

Companions? Since autumn is one of the four seasons.

Who else could his companions be besides the other four seasons?

Just one [Autumn] was enough to give Hera a hard time; if the other three all came, things would be in serious trouble!

"So, that's why you're letting it go..."

Pfft!

The blade, made of flesh and blood, pierced through the crow man's head.

The crow-man instantly stopped breathing and collapsed to the ground.

The long sword transformed into a terrifying maw, swallowing the crow-man whole.

As the crow-man's corpse was completely swallowed by the blade, the blade throbbed twice as violently as a heart.

Then things returned to calm.

Fran brandished the knife in front of him a couple of times, clicking his tongue in amazement.

"I feel like this knife is more powerful than me now."

"He became this strong just by consuming one 'Transcendent' item."

Fran gently stroked the blade, growing increasingly fond of the knife his boss had given him.

"If the other three [Four Seasons] are about the same strength as [Autumn]."

Even if I team up with the boss, we still wouldn't be a match for him..."

A look of unprecedented suspicion and seriousness appeared on Ekalen's face.

He reminded Fran, who was still lost in thought.

"Let's get out of this city quickly."

Fran snapped out of his reverie and nodded in agreement. "That's true. Let's hurry up and go."

He sheathed his knife and followed Aykaren out of the messy bar.

As soon as they stepped out, they ran into Floran and his group, who had been standing at the door.

When Floran saw the two of them come out, he lowered his head in shame and bit his lip as if he wanted to say something.

The other three had already heard Floran's explanation.

He also lowered his head.

"Let's go. You should be safe now. I've wiped out the Black Death Gang."

Aikalen patted their heads, then led the group ahead with Fran.

"Um, wait a minute."

He had only taken a few steps when Florian called him down.

The two turned their heads and roughly guessed what he wanted to say.

Floran blushed and looked up apologetically.

"Yes, I'm sorry!"

All four people apologized to the two of them at the same time.

"You've been helping us all along, but we've been doing more harm than good, causing you trouble. We're so sorry..."

Floran stood at the front of the group and sincerely apologized.

Aikalen looked at him but said nothing.

I walked over and gently patted his head.

"We must learn from this experience and never do anything so dangerous again."

Floran's tightly closed eyes widened instantly.

Then her eyes filled with tears, and she couldn't hold them back and started crying.

"Why...you're so good to us, and you never blame us."

We've never fought it, neither have our parents…
