With just a glance from Pei Feng, the royal guards immediately drew their swords and stepped forward.
"Guards, cut off her hands!"
Pei Feng's face was grim.
"One hand will be used to break the curse on Anyang, and the other will be used to make up for the suffering Anyang has endured!"
Wang's expression changed: "The eldest prince dares to abuse his power? Isn't he afraid of being punished by the emperor?!"
Pei Feng remained unfazed: "This wicked woman has harmed the bloodline of Donglai. This is a grave crime that damages diplomatic relations. Even if it goes to the Emperor's court, I will have something to say!"
The guard had already drawn his blade, which startled Lady Wang.
Jiang Wan patted her hand to comfort her.
Just then, a group of people suddenly burst into the house.
The newcomers were all dressed in the uniforms of the Song family army. The leader kicked over a guard carrying a sword and glared fiercely, saying, "Let's see who dares to touch the lady!"
Jiang Wan was surprised.
She thought it was Shen Ci who came, but it turned out to be Er Gou.
"Madam, don't be afraid! Stand behind me!"
Er Gou was aggressive, looking like he was ready to fight to the death to get her out of there.
Gu Yurong couldn't stand it any longer and scolded, "You stupid thing! The general sent you here to protect the princess, what are you doing here causing trouble? Get out of here!"
"Be careful, or I'll tell the general, and he'll banish you from the camp and kill you!"
Er Gou completely ignored her.
He knew that doing so would be disobeying military orders, but Jiang Wan would distribute porridge to the people and even personally treat his wounds; she was a good person.
He couldn't stand by and watch her be bullied.
"Good! General Song's troops are rebelling!" Pei Feng roared in fury, veins throbbing on his forehead. "Anyone who dares to obstruct this prince today will be executed on the spot as a traitor!"
"Wait a minute."
Jiang Wan took out a sheet of Xuan paper from her sleeve.
"This was written by Princess Anyang herself yesterday."
She then picked up the kite and compared the two. Even if she didn't recognize Donglai script, she could tell that they were the same characters.
Pei Tang, who was closest, snatched the paper and glanced at it: "That's right, it's paper from my estate."
With her testimony, the possibility of Jiang Wan fabricating evidence was eliminated.
“I only have a superficial understanding of Donglai script, but the princess would never make a mistake.” Jiang Wan frowned, feigning confusion. “It’s really strange, the princess wrote this curse… could it be that she doesn’t want to have children?”
She displayed the paper to everyone.
Gu Yurong took a deep breath, her expression as if she had seen a ghost.
Impossible! She clearly had someone destroy this paper, how could it have ended up in Jiang Wan's hands?
In a moment of panic, she turned around to look, only to find that one of her maids was missing and had vanished without a trace.
Pei Feng froze mid-air as he raised his knife.
His mind raced as he tried to come up with a rebuttal, when he heard Pei Xi shout out.
"Jiang Wan, I think you're a complete idiot!"
"Even if An Yang is insane and wants to harm her own child, she can just secretly abort it. Why bother teaching you to write and flying kites? Why go through all that trouble?"
Jiang Wan smiled and said, "Then may I ask, Princess, why have you gone to so much trouble? Who is the one suffering the consequences now?"
Pei Xi rolled her eyes at her: "Of course it's you..."
He suddenly covered his mouth.
Jiang Wan praised, "The Third Prince is indeed wise, even more so than a pig's brain."
Pei Xi: "..."
"Enough!"
Pei Feng glared at his younger brother with exasperation, wishing he could slap him.
He grabbed Song Tingyue's maid and said coldly, "You, look carefully at what the princess wrote."
The maid was terrified, stammering, "It was a blessing! Not a curse! I was just nervous and misread it, please forgive me, Your Highness..."
Before she could finish speaking, a streak of bright red blood flashed across her neck.
Pei Feng swiftly slit her throat and tossed her away like a rag doll.
Jiang Wan noticed with her sharp eyes that the curtains on the bed seemed to have moved.
"That vile servant has misled the public and has been executed by this prince!"
Pei Feng said in a deep voice.
"Does anyone else have any objections?"
Upon seeing the blood all over the ground, the monk's eyes rolled back, and he fainted.
Even Pei Xi was so frightened by Pei Feng that she dared not speak.
"Your Highness is very decisive," Jiang Wan said coldly.
"The princess needs to rest. The imperial physician will remain, and the rest of you may leave."
Pei Feng wiped the blood from the blade and looked at Jiang Wan's retreating figure. "I misunderstood Madam Jiang today. The Japanese prince will personally come to apologize."
Wang quickly pulled Jiang Wan away and left.
"The eldest prince is the son of the Imperial Concubine, and his status is noble. You should not oppose him."
She took Jiang Wan back to her room, looked her up and down, and her eyes welled up with tears.
“Good child, you have grown up so well. Your mother will be delighted if she sees you.”
Jiang Wan clutched her sleeve, somewhat at a loss.
In his previous life, after her death, Song Ziyu played the role of a loyal husband who had lost his wife, going to her family home to gain sympathy and ask for favors.
He deceived her relatives, paving the way for her in the court and cleaning up many messes.
She felt estranged from her family across two generations, and mostly blamed herself.
Now, facing his aunt, he felt a mix of homesickness and trepidation, unsure how to approach her. He could only ask, "When did Uncle come to the capital? How come I didn't know?"
"His Majesty has promoted him to Vice Minister of the Ministry of Justice. He will take office next month. We will come to the capital to settle him in first."
Jiang Wan nodded, understanding dawning on her.
In his previous life, Lin Zhiquan held the position of Vice Minister of the Ministry of Justice, so there was no such thing as his uncle being promoted.
Now that the Ministry of Justice has undergone a major reshuffle, my uncle has actually benefited from it.
This is a good thing.
“Once the house is settled, you should come and see your uncle. He may not say it, but he misses you,” said Madam Wang.
Jiang Wan replied, "Understood."
Wang liked her very much, so he invited her to stay for a meal and talked for a while before letting her go as it was getting dark.
