Chapter 35 Return
Feeling irritated by the lack of spiritual energy, Ji Rong lavishly opened the small jade box containing the spiritual crystals. She counted out a handful of crystals, gave ten to Gu Qingqing, and then hugged the remaining five to herself. She snuggled into her nest and fell asleep in no time.
When Ji Zhuang returned from work, he immediately sensed the barren spiritual energy upon entering the cave. He saw the fragments of spirit crystals lying on Gu Qingqing's side, curled his lip, and then took out the spirit crystals he had obtained that day. He grabbed a few and placed them under Gu Qingqing, and then held the rest in his paws and placed them all under his sister.
After a long day, with only spiritual grains in the cave, Ji Zhuang ate some and then gently fell asleep beside Ji Rong.
That night, Ji Rong slept exceptionally well. She felt as if she were still in the nest that Ji Er and Qing Shi had built for them, a nest filled with warm spiritual marrow. She and her brothers and sisters huddled together, sleeping and eating, eating and sleeping.
As dawn broke, Ji Rong woke up and moved her feet, discovering that there were many more spirit crystals beneath her. She glanced at her brother, who had also just woken up, and frowned, saying, "Brother, there are too many."
Her brother gestured to her with his eyes, glanced at Gu Qingqing, and then went to work.
Ji Rong then realized that not only was there almost no spiritual energy in the air, but it was also filled with a desolate stench.
Gu Qingqing remained in this state for three days before waking up. If she hadn't woken up soon, Ji Rong would have had to reluctantly throw her out.
It's bad enough that it smells bad, but the problem is that they don't have any more spirit crystals to give Gu Qingqing to use.
When Gu Qing regained consciousness, she discovered that all three of her severed tails had grown back a little. However, she did not get up to be happy immediately. Instead, she stared at the top of her head for a long time, preoccupied with her thoughts.
During this deep sleep, she discovered that there were still two remnant souls inside her body.
It's easy to understand why she used most of Huang Pinjie's parts and retained some of Huang Pinjie's remnants in her body;
But what about the other dog? That dog, who called herself Heiwa, was savage, rude, and treacherous. It was a male. If she hadn't been cornered and angrily revealed that the body was female, and hadn't suddenly lunged at him and swallowed him whole while he was still in shock, she might have been the one who was devoured and never came out again.
"Thankfully, I finally woke up." Gu Qingqing took a deep breath, feeling extremely relieved, as she regained consciousness.
As she was about to get up, she noticed a pile of spirit crystal fragments on the mat, followed by Ji Rong and Ji Zhuang's unhappy faces, their expressions of "I've raised you so much you're broke" assaulting Gu Qingqing's heart.
Gu Qingqing felt very uncomfortable being stared at and awkwardly said, "Do you need money? I can give it to you now."
She immediately made a hand seal, opened her storage ring, and looked inside. What she saw was a pile of fire spirit grass that had lost all its spiritual energy. She had dealt with it in a hurry and probably hadn't expected that Gu Qingqing would be unconscious for so long. Many things were not sealed away.
Looking at the piles of herbs that had lost most of their spiritual energy, it wasn't easy to pick out the good ones, so Gu Qingqing simply poured out half of everything in her storage ring.
Ji Zhuang and Ji Rong were buried under the overwhelming amount of garbage, and it took them a moment to pop their heads out.
The herbs, having lost their spiritual essence, crumbled at the slightest touch, causing Ji Rong and Ji Zhuang to scream in heartache!
They all secretly resented Gu Qingqing's incompetence. Aunt Huang trusted her so much, entrusting her with such a large fortune, yet she slept for so long.
Seeing so many herbs that had lost their spiritual power, Ji Rong shed tears of sorrow, while Ji Zhuang shed tears of anger.
The two children felt a sense of frustration, as if they had never known their family was so rich, only to find out that the money was already too rotten to be used.
Gu Qingqing interrupted their worries, saying, "Ahem, what are you standing there for? Hurry up and pick out the good ones, or they'll all be useless." Ji Rong and Ji Zhuang then came to their senses and quickly selected out the spiritual materials that had not lost much of their spiritual energy and were still edible, putting them into the jade box.
There were many such herbs, so Ji Rong took a pottery jar, filled it with some spiritual water, poured in all the edible spiritual materials, and then had Ji Zhuang use a fire to ignite the spiritual maple branches and boil them.
Gu Qingqing, Ji Zhuang, and Ji Rong ate such lavish meals for three consecutive days, until their blood was boiling and their noses were bleeding profusely.
Because fire spirit grass is the most abundant among these spiritual materials, the red one among Gu Qingqing's shiny and adorable new tails grows the best.
Now, Gu Qingqing is adorned with a yellow, a white, a red, and a tricolor floral tail, making her look like a large floral cloth. If she stood still in the flower bushes, passing bees would probably stop to admire her.
Ji Zhuang felt as if parched soil had been repeatedly blessed with rain and manure, and the spiritual river within his body grew stronger.
Ji Rong had a very difficult time; her experience was like going through both ice and fire.
The surging spiritual energy washed over her meridians, making her feel refreshed all over; perhaps it had been a long time since she had fought such a rich battle, because the tiny meridians in her body grew and expanded without her consent.
She felt that the flesh beneath the hair was a bloody mess, but outwardly it looked the same as Ji Zhuang's, except that he was bleeding from the nose.
After three days of eating, Ji Rong endured the painful growth that followed the relief of her internal meridians. She wiped away her nosebleed and pointed painfully at the half-used spiritual materials that the jade box still couldn't hold, saying, "Are we going to keep eating like this? I feel like I'll die if I keep eating like this!"
Gu Qingqing thought about it and agreed. Ji Rong and Ji Zhuang were too young and might overdo it. It was better to enjoy such good things herself.
So she put the usable items she had picked out back into her storage ring.
Although spiritual energy will still be lost in the storage ring, it is hundreds of times better than leaving it outside.
On the fourth day, Ji Rong and Ji Zhuang ate the spirit grain and found it incredibly delicious; while Gu Qingqing was still eating the half-baked spirit grain soup. She looked at Ji Rong and Ji Zhuang's spirit grain and wanted to drool; but her poverty made her sober. At least the food was cooked properly, and if she didn't eat it soon, it would really be wasted.
On the eighth day, Gu Qingqing could no longer eat. It wasn't that a dignified mortal demon realm cultivator couldn't resist the aroma of roasted rabbit meat, but rather that she had gotten a nosebleed from eating too much. So, she forced Ji Rong and Ji Zhuang to drink a bowl of spiritual herb soup, and then took two pieces of fragrant roasted meat from beside the fire.
Then, she ate a sip of the spiritual herb soup and a small bite of roasted meat, her eyes squinting as she ate.
There are still many hundred-year-old fire spirit herbs left in the storage ring. Although their spirituality has been lost, they can still be considered second-rate. They cannot prove the origin of these things, and it would be easy to lose their lives if they were to sell them rashly. They also cannot finish eating them.
Just as she was worrying, Ji Rong saw the Qingxin Grass mat that had been crumpled up and asked Gu Qingqing, "Do you have a Fire Spirit Grass mat?"
Gu Qingqing said subconsciously, "This is too extravagant."
Then Ji Rong began to examine the clump of straw mat.
Ji Rong had never thought about how to maintain the spirituality of this calming grass mat. She only knew that Ji Er had said that this thing was very expensive, so expensive that for a while Huang Pinjie couldn't afford it at all and could only hug Ji Er for warmth.
"Ugh, these damned memories." Ji Rong shook her head, suppressing the heat in her eyes, and told Gu Qingqing to smooth out the cushion, then pull out the straws one by one.
These ravaged grasses still retained much of their spirit. Ji Rong carefully observed the weaving pattern of the mat and felt that it must have been woven by birds, because the weaving method was very similar to the way her family's original nest was built.
