Chapter 46 The Bereaved Family (1)
Before he had gone three miles, Ji Zhuang was almost struck down by a barrage of lightning.
The lightning's powerful rays struck Ji Zhuang's wings, scorching his feathers and causing him to lose his balance.
Injured, Ji Zhuang began to fly at varying heights, swaying left and right.
The commotion they caused was naturally heard by the lich race, who were still near the reef island.
They watched as Ji Zhuang flew deeper into the deserted island, and were about to give chase when they were forced back by heavy lightning.
An elder of the Lich Clan stopped the young disciples from re-arming and setting off. She said in a deep voice, "They're just a few minor cultivators. I guess they can't go on living because of Jiao Pingbo's death."
"Let them escape. This thunderstorm covers an area of at least ten thousand miles and will last for at least seven days. Those minor cultivators might be struck by lightning and thrown into the sea to feed the fish at any moment. You must not risk your lives."
With Jiao Pingbo dead, the Heavenly Palace will inevitably send troops again, and they will soon have a new battle to fight.
Every able-bodied member of the Lich Clan is now very important to them. It's not worth it for their own people to chase after a few minor cultivators who have fallen into the minefield.
As lightning flashed, the elders of the Lich Clan all frowned deeply.
The War God Temple's God Lord, Di Rong, is unreliable. If this war breaks out, will their Lich Clan still have a future?

The thunder, lightning, and wind at sea were extremely fierce, making Gu Qingqing's eyes blurry and unable to see any direction at all.
In a daze, Ji Zhuang sped through the lightning, his survival instincts allowing him to dodge one strike after another.
But the lightning was boundless, and the rain poured down.
Having flown for countless days and nights, Ji Zhuang, even without his mind, was filled with despair, as was Gu Qingqing, who sat on his back.
The Demon Emperor's life or death could trigger such a huge reaction from heaven and earth. Are they really going to perish here?
"No!" Gu Qingqing cried out in her heart, "Absolutely not! As long as she is still conscious, they have hope."
She straightened her tail even more frantically, whipping Ji Zhuang's rump with all her might to urge it forward.
She thought to herself, "Fly a little further, and if we fly a little further, we'll have a chance to survive!"
The sea stretched endlessly, and finally, in the morning light of another day, Gu Qingqing seemed to see an island ahead, and the pursuit of lightning behind her seemed to have stopped.
She suddenly snapped to attention and smacked Ji Zhuang on the head.
Ji Zhuang had long since given up on flying; exhausted, he only wanted to fall, but Gu Qingqing wouldn't allow it.
Gu Qingqing occasionally lashed out at Ji Zhuang's body with her tail, which was now a bloody mess, but Gu Qingqing's will remained as hard as steel.
With the island right in front of him, Ji Zhuang had no more will to fly.
With a heavy heart, Gu Qingqing slapped Ji Zhuang's buttocks with her claws, sending up layers of minced flesh.
Ji Zhuang screamed in agony as he charged forward like a raging bull, crashing headfirst into layers of viscous, egg-like air.
Just as Gu Qingqing was being squeezed and unable to breathe, Ji Rong moved and broke free from Gu Qingqing's tail.
Gu Qingqing struggled to hold onto Ji Rong, but the thick air seemed like an illusion, vanishing in an instant.
In just over ten breaths, Ji Zhuang, who had lost control, crashed headfirst into a tree on the island, carrying Gu Qingqing and Ji Rong.
Gu Qingqing glanced at the ground beneath her through the branches and leaves, and felt that the spiritual energy here was even more scarce than that of the Desolate Sea City.
She could no longer muster any strength, so she no longer cared about providing cover.
She closed her eyes and fainted, just like Ji Rong and Ji Zhuang.
Ji Zhuang's arrival on the island caused a huge commotion, disturbing the island's native inhabitants.
They gathered around in twos and threes from various places.
Among them, some were exceptionally tall, while others were extremely short and thin.
Upon closer inspection, these creatures resemble liches somewhat, but they clearly lack the characteristics of all races and their appearance is closer to that of the Celestials.
These humanoid creatures whispered among themselves around the unconscious and tattered Sanxiu. Before long, they brought over a woman of unusually tall and strong stature.
As the woman arrived, the creatures surrounding Ji Zhuangsan made way for her, bowing to the tall and strong woman and saying, "Witch."
The witch did not answer. She knelt on the ground and used her left hand to lift the two children, one big and one small, off her shoulder. She handed the child to the older children she had brought, and then dragged the tree that Ji Zhuang had knocked down to the side.
She turned to the side and lifted Ji Rong, Ji Zhuang, and Gu Qingqing up one by one. After listening, she said, "Yes, they are still breathing."
After examining it carefully for a while, the shaman said, "Fellow tribesmen, this is something from the outside world. I don't know why it was able to come here."
After our ancestral shaman reinforced the seal, we haven't seen any life outside for nearly a thousand years.
Go and fetch the frames, and take them to my land to be cared for. If they survive, we'll know what's happening outside."
Everyone agreed.
The sorcerer settled them in his dwelling.
The clan's chief shaman, Yue, was away and had not returned. The shaman was worried that these three were not good people and would harm his clan if he raised them. So he simply took them back to his own home.
The witch and her family lived alone on a small island, which allowed her to observe changes at sea and prepare for disasters as soon as the only great witch in the tribe left.
Her home is separated from the large island where her people live by only a shallow strait.
The witch directed her people to bring Ji Zhuang and his group back. Then she examined the male and female of Ji Zhuang and his group and dug two large, interconnected pits on the spot.
She then used tree stumps to cover the entrance to the cave. She placed Ji Zhuang in one place and Ji Rong and Gu Qingqing in another.
As dusk approached, the witch returned to her home to care for her three cubs.
After the children had all closed their eyes and lay down, the shaman covered them with animal skins, then took an oil lamp and some herbs and went to the other side of the island to check on the three creatures.
Their situation was dire, and the sorceress wasn't confident she could save them; but since she had encountered them, she was determined to do her best to save them.
Upon entering the newly opened cave, the three creatures were indeed in dire straits; their bodies were burning hot, and their wounds were intertwined with congealed flesh and blood.
Looking at these creatures, which reeked of stench and were tattered and in terrible condition, the witch couldn't believe they were still alive if it weren't for the rise and fall of their chests!
While secretly marveling at the powerful vitality of these creatures, the witch doctor busily moved water vats, earthenware pots, and firewood over.
She had to quickly prepare medicine and wash them. These three had been wandering at sea for who knows how long before they flew here. They were really lucky to be alive!
The shaman built a stove on the spot, scooped up enough water and put it into a clay pot, then lit the firewood.
After the water boiled, she carefully considered and added different herbs one by one. Only when the soup emitted a rich medicinal aroma did she pick up the earthenware pot and enter the cave.
Then, she took out a clean wad of hemp and used it to wash Gu Qingqing with the medicinal soup.
After cleaning Gu Qingqing, the witch took out a knife and heated it over a fire. She was going to clean the rotten flesh off the fox.
She took out some herbs, crushed them, and applied them to Gu Qingqing's cuts.
This process was repeated until dawn, when the sorcerer finally cleaned up Gu Qingqing and Ji Zhuang and applied medicine.
