Chapter 71 Invitation
Seeing that Jiao Jue had agreed, Ji Rong breathed a sigh of relief and quickly flew away again.
The shamans here are simple and honest, and they owe Ji Rong and the others a debt of gratitude for saving their lives. Ji Rong naturally hopes that they can live well.
As she flew toward the seal, she searched for any stray members of the witch clan.
Ji Zhuang and Wu Yue also searched outside. They found dozens of them, flew around the island twice, and then rushed back.
Ji Rong then grabbed Wu Yue to fetch Xuanwu and Amu. As soon as she landed on the island, she saw a fish-shaped creature crawl out of the sea.
"He's ugly, but he looks a bit like Ming Yao," Ji Rong thought to herself. Then she saw the fish-man gradually shed his scales and tail, transforming into a middle-aged man dressed in seaweed.
Upon seeing the three-eyed giant Wu Yue beside Ji Rong, Wu Yue excitedly exclaimed, "I am Wu Yue, the sixth elder of the Wu tribe of the desolate sea. I have been searching for you for many years following the route passed down in my tribe, and now I have finally found you!"
Upon hearing this, Wu Yue's hand tightened involuntarily. The tortoise shell slid into his hand, and his fingers moved slightly as he cast a divination. The divination said that he was of the Wu clan bloodline, yet he was no longer.
Wu Yue strode forward, transforming into a fish head. From his mouth, he pulled out an ancient and weathered tortoise shell, a sea chart engraved on a jade piece, and a gold seal engraved with the number "six".
He handed the three items to Wu Yue. Wu Yue looked at the tortoise shell that was exactly the same as the one he had, hesitated for a moment, and then accepted it.
As soon as Wu Yue got his hands on the item, he knew without a doubt that it was an artifact passed down through generations of his clan. However, he found it difficult to connect the fish-man in front of him with the Wu clan.
However, Wu Yue still responded, "A huge change has occurred on the island. This distinguished guest who has come from afar, would you like to come with us, or wait here for us to finish dealing with this first?"
Wu Yue wanted to go along, but since they had just met, he wasn't sure if the other party really wanted him to come, so he said, "You guys go ahead and do your work, I'll wait for you here."
After saying this, Wu Yue transformed back into a fish and returned to the sea, not asking for the three items back.
Ji Rong flew to the island and walked into the house with practiced ease, calling out, "Tanwu, come out quickly, the old man and I have come to pick you up."
Upon hearing this, Xuanwu handed out Amu first, and Ji Rong took Amu and placed her under her wings to protect her.
The witch crawled out and asked, "When you came, did you see a strange middle-aged man?"
Wu Yue and Ji Rong nodded.
The witch frowned and said, "He came up from there when the wind started to blow."
She gestured with her hands: "He was a fish before he came ashore, but he became a man after he came ashore."
Wu Yue said in a deep voice, "We've run into him. His matter isn't urgent. Let's go to the sealing site first."
Ji Rong and the two witches walked together to the seal.
They looked up and saw that the sky looked as if it had been pierced by millions of holes, with strong winds rushing in.
The wind grew stronger and stronger. Wu Yue cast a divination, staring at the ever-widening hole with a grave expression.
Ji Rong took a breath and said, "Old man, Xuanwu, I'm afraid we can't stay here any longer. Let's go back and talk. We need to make a decision as soon as possible."
She blew a breath of peaceful spiritual energy onto Wu Yue and Xuan Wu's faces and said, "Let's go talk to that dragon. He's been wanting to get out for a long time."
Upon reaching the large island, Wu Yue heard the voice and quickly climbed out of the sea, asking, "Is there anything I can help you with?"
Wu Yue stared at the fishman who claimed to be a descendant of the Wu tribe, and finally sighed, "Come with me."
With so many people, there wasn't enough space. Ordinary elderly people and children of the Wu tribe would have difficulty breathing inside. After thinking it over, Ji Rong called Gu Qingqing over to cover her up.
Ji Rong simply activated the spiritual veins outside the large cave where they originally lived, and took root to absorb the energy.
She then had Ji Zhuang move the people from Jiao Jue's cave over, which at least protected the surviving Wu tribe members on the island.
Gu Qingqing defined the living area and then covered Ji Rong with a low-level illusion. What the Wu tribe saw was Gu Qingqing conjuring a lush green tree by making hand seals.
Before long, the Wu people felt that their living area had expanded, and the air they breathed no longer stung their throats, but instead became more and more comfortable.
They all bowed and praised Gu Qingqing's superb Taoist skills.
Upon hearing this, Gu Qingqing proudly raised her head high.
She liked hearing this. The fact that she could use this low-level illusion skill so skillfully and over such a large area was naturally because of her high level of Taoist magic.
As for Jiaojue and those Wu clan members with cultivation.
She can't beat Jiao Jue, so be it; Ji Rong also said that the dragon had seen Ji Rong's tree trunk.
Wu Yue and Xuanwu of the Wu Clan were aware of Ji Rong's unusual behavior. If any other Wu Clan members saw her and dared to speak out, she would inform Wu Yue and have them killed.
On the other side, Jiao Jue watched as his cheap laborers were carried away on Ji Zhuang's back, and without thinking, he grabbed Feng Qing and followed.
As soon as Jiao Jue approached Ji Rong's old cave, he immediately recognized Ji Rong in the center of the illusion.
He used his tail to shoo away the passing witch clan members, walked straight to Ji Rong's face, casually plucked off one of Ji Rong's whiskers, lowered his head, squinted his eyes, and said with a smile, "You little brat, you're gone."
Ji Rong blinked her beady eyes at him and shook her head slightly.
Feng Qing struggled to climb out of Jiao Jue's claws and clumsily tried to pry at Ji Rong.
Ji Rong looked at the small, cute, dappled fox clinging to her, and lifted her wings to carry her to her shoulder.
And so the Wu tribe witnessed a scene they would never forget.
A giant dragon spoke a single sentence to the tree where they had taken refuge, and the tree's branches swung up and then returned to their original positions.
The Wu tribe members excitedly shouted "miracle!" and then stopped what they were doing and bowed down in worship.
Hearing the commotion, Gu Qingqing darted to Ji Rong's feet and blinked, whispering, "Don't move, maintaining the formation consumes a lot of spiritual energy."
Ji Rong narrowed her beady eyes, indicating that she understood.
Gu Qingqing smiled obsequiously and pointed her little finger at the kneeling Wu tribesman, saying to Jiao Jue, "Lord Jiaolong, they don't need to know so much."
The horned beast nodded, took to the air, and waved its four claws. Before long, all the witch tribesmen on the ground fell into a deep sleep.
Ji Rong was stunned by the smoothness of the spell, as it was the first time she had ever seen it.
Having cast a "sleeping spell," Jiaojue slightly raised his head, squinted arrogantly, and said, "Dead bird, you can speak now."
Ji Rong blinked and asked, "What did you do to them?"
"It's just a sleeping spell, you guys don't even know that?"
Ji Rong shook her head. If they knew this, they wouldn't need to waste spiritual energy to cast illusions.
“But even if you knew how, you couldn’t afford it,” Jiao Jue continued, squinting arrogantly. “You’re so poor you’re licking my plates. You must be a poor, wretched little bird.”
Ji Rong "..."
It would have been fine if he said he was incompetent, but this damned dragon actually said she was poor; she really wanted to beat him to death.
Ji Rong closed her eyes and hunched over like an ostrich. Feng Qing, perched on her shoulder, looked dazed and said comfortably, "Zu Shu, we should go out now."
"Can we go out now?!" Ji Rong quickly retracted her roots back into her body.
But immediately, she pointed to the witch tribe members sleeping on the ground and said worriedly, "We can leave, but what about them?"
"They are mine, and I will take them away."
Jiao Jue raised his head, his eyes narrowed to slits, his golden beard trembling, and he said in an unquestionable tone, "I have protected them, and they are now my servants for generations to come."
Finally, he looked at Ji Rong again and said, "You, and Feng Qing, also have to come with me."
