After waiting for a while, Li Qingshu arrived in a hurry.
"Give!"
She opened her hand, revealing a warm, round, emerald-green patch on her palm, with a red string tied to it.
Happy birthday in advance!
"I already said there's no need to send gifts," Chu Yang said with a smile.
Li Qingshu stretched out her hand: "This is a safety amulet; wearing it will keep you safe. Don't you like it?"
Hearing this, Chu Yang took it: "Of course I like it."
After saying that, he put it around his neck.
Thank you for the gift.
Li Qingshu smiled and looked her up and down, saying with satisfaction, "Hmm, really beautiful."
Chu Yang stared at her: "Is the person prettier, or the safety amulet?"
Li Qingshu blushed and said, "They're all, they're all beautiful."
"Then you should hurry up and leave, don't miss your flight!"
She turned and took a couple of steps, then turned back and asked, "By the way, where are you going on vacation?"
Chu Yang said, "Let's go to Yunnan, Qinghai, and Tibet."
“…That’s great. Be careful on your journey.” Li Qingshu said softly.
Chu Yang pointed to the safety amulet hanging on his chest and smiled, "With your talisman, I'll definitely return safely. I'll come back to find you."
"Mmm," Li Qingshu replied, then reluctantly entered her home.
Seeing that she had closed the door, Chu Yang got on his bicycle and soon returned home.
Tony Fang and Lao Chu had already packed their luggage and were ready to go.
Chu Yang quickly packed his things and waved his hand dismissively.
"Set off!"
So the family of three took a car to the airport, and the plane took off on time at 11:30.
And so began the two-week trip.
…
July 10th.
9:50 a.m.
Shen Li stayed by the radio.
Zhou Xianglun's third album's first single will be released at 10 o'clock.
"I guess the first single will be related to war, describing the brotherhood between comrades-in-arms."
She remembered what Chu Yang had said when she went to get her hair washed for the second time.
The two started talking and gradually got to know each other because of Zhou Xianglun's music.
"And then he became my fake second uncle, hmph."
Little Pear lay on the table and turned up the radio volume.
Just then, her phone rang, and she picked it up to look at it.
It was a text message from Chu Yang: "I'm riding yaks on the Tibetan grasslands. Remember to listen to Lun Ge's new song release."
Shen Li made a face at her phone and quickly replied, "I'm listening, do you want to join me?"
Not receiving a reply, she called directly.
A rough, guttural mooing came from the other end of the phone.
Then came Chu Yang's voice: "Hey, Brother Niu, slow down, Brother Niu! Holy crap, stop jumping around, you're practically shaking my brains out... Ah, I'm flying... Little Pear, save your second uncle!"
"Haha..." Shen Li laughed unkindly, her eyes curving into crescents.
After things calmed down, she asked worriedly, "Are you alright? Did you hurt yourself?"
Chu Yang chuckled and said, "How could anything be wrong? I've subdued Brother Niu. I just plucked a tuft of hair from its forehead, and it doesn't seem too happy about it."
Shen Li was amused again.
Just then, the radio broadcast a news report.
"Our long-awaited new song premiere is from Zhou Xianglun, the rising star of Taiwan!..."
Shen Li was overjoyed. She held her phone close to the radio and exclaimed excitedly, "Did you hear that? Did you hear that? A new song is here!"
Then I heard the intro to a song coming from the radio.
The sound of machine guns rattling.
A grand and majestic string arrangement.
Shen Li was stunned for a moment. Was it really a song about war?
The radio host's voice rang out again: "Zhou Xianglun's brand new song, The Final Battle!"
"Amidst the machine gun fire, we searched for cover in trenches. The sandcastle of my childhood was destroyed, but we can rebuild it..."
Shen Li listened attentively, becoming more and more excited as she listened.
The call hadn't ended. On the other end, Chu Yang sat on the grass, playing with the cow hair he'd plucked from Brother Niu's head, listening to Brother Lun's familiar singing voice coming from the phone, and hearing Shen Li's occasional exclamations.
Until the song is finished.
"Chu Yang, you're amazing! You guessed everything! What other songs do you know? Tell me quickly!"
Chu Yang smiled slightly: "Do you still remember the wind chimes in the bookstore and the Peninsula Iron Box that we couldn't buy?"
Shen Li: "?"
…
Erhai Lake, Dali, July 15.
On this day, Chu Yang celebrated his birthday and turned nineteen.
He sat there lazily, glancing at his parents who were walking hand in hand along the shore.
In the distance, the sun sets in golden hues, and the afterglow paints the sea red.
A flock of seagulls flew by, their cries clear and melodious.
Three phone calls came in almost without pause.
The first one is Li Qingshu.
Happy birthday! When are you coming back?
"It's the 24th, what's wrong, missing me?"
"……think."
"Let's go back and have some fun. Where do you want to go?"
"Amusement park? I've never been to an amusement park before, is that okay?"
"Of course, we can go together on the 25th."
"Uh-huh!"
After I hung up the phone, Shen Li called in.
"Happy birthday!"
"Thanks, niece."
"Hmph, you said you'd take me out to play when you came back, don't forget."
"Of course I won't forget."
"Where are we going?"
"Amusement park?"
"Uh-huh!"
Then another call came in.
An unfamiliar number, yet Su Lingxue's voice rang out.
"Happy birthday, Chu Yang."
"Sorry, the number you dialed is temporarily unavailable. Sorry, [something unclear - possibly a reference to a character or a character, possibly a typo]..."
