The wind howled and rattled against the glass outside the window as An Youhe turned on the television.
Open the thick curtains in the room.
The view outside the window was almost invisible; thunder and lightning raged, and the rain was incredibly heavy.
The television broadcast, "Today, Typhoon Jiba suddenly made landfall, bringing lightning and torrential rain to the Guangchuan area at top speed. Residents of Guangchuan are advised to minimize going out and take emergency precautions. People in mountainous areas should be especially careful of natural disasters such as floods, landslides, and mudslides."
An Youhe opened her eyes wide, somewhat at a loss.
But Ye Zhou is still on the mountain!
There's nowhere to take shelter from the rain on the mountain; it's very unsafe for Ye Zhou to be there.
An Youhe quickly dressed, rushed out, and knocked on Hu Lai's door.
Hu Lai opened the door, holding her phone and playing a game. "What's wrong?"
"I want to go find Ye Zhou."
Hu Lai looked like he hadn't woken up yet, "Go find it yourself, just go out and take a taxi."
"There are no cars now, look out the window."
In Hu Lai's room, the curtains were drawn tightly. Just as he was about to dawdle and open the window, the girl rushed forward and opened the curtains.
The rain outside was so heavy that you couldn't see anything at all.
Hu Lai was shocked. "Hey, I remember it was a sunny day when the team leader went out. What happened?"
"Ye Zhou might be in danger; we have to go and rescue him."
Hu Lai opened the window a crack, and the torrential rain and wind outside poured into the room like a faucet turned up too high.
It took him a lot of effort to close the door.
"But how can anyone go out in this weather? If we can't save the team leader, we'll die on the way. There's no way we can go out in this weather."
"But what about Ye Zhou? What will happen to Ye Zhou?"
The girl's eyes welled up with tears.
Hu Lai sighed, "Don't worry, the team leader is so smart, everything will be fine, it's just a small storm."
"It's not a storm, it's a typhoon!"
"Typhoon, it should be fine even if it's a typhoon, right? The team leader is so capable."
An Youhe pouted, snatched Hu Lai's phone, and forcibly quit the game.
"Hey, don't do that, it's my game."
"Tick-tock, tick-tock!—"
Tears welled up in the girl's eyes.
Hu Lai was even more helpless; he really didn't know how to react to this kind of girl.
"Don't cry."
An Youhe wiped away her tears, "If I could drive, I wouldn't be begging you like this. Now I'm begging you, can you please save Ye Zhou? Ye Zhou has always been good to you, can you please save him?"
Hu Lai, still wearing slippers and shorts, scratched his messy hair in annoyance. "Sigh, fine."
The two were stopped by security guards before they even came out of the garage.
"You two young people, don't be silly. It's snowing heavily outside, you can't go out. The water level is rising very fast, and cars are starting to float. Don't risk your lives."
Hu Lai didn't say anything and rushed out of the checkpoint.
The rain was so heavy that driving felt like being in the ocean. The windshield wipers were running at full speed, but they were barely effective. I could only make out a tiny bit of the road.
Hu Lai drove using only a map and finally navigated to a point one kilometer away from the cell tower. He stopped the car there and couldn't go any further.
“There’s a landslide ahead, the road is blocked, and cars can’t get through,” Hu Lai said to An Youhe.
How far is Ye Zhou from here?
"About one kilometer. Why are you asking that?"
“I’ll walk there myself.”
"Huh? Are you crazy? With your small frame, you won't go far before the typhoon blows you away. If you ask me, we really did our best. Now it's just God stopping us. Sigh, I did my best. If the rain rises in a little while, we'll be trapped here and die!"
An Youhe was silent for three seconds before saying, "Then how about this, you send me a map, and I'll go find it myself."
"Huh? You're serious? You'd risk your life for a boyfriend?"
An Youhe smiled at Hu Lai, "Now, Ye Zhou is my life."
Hu Lai knew she couldn't control this love-struck fool. "There's a raincoat under the back seat. Wear it to keep out the rain."
An Youhe was very grateful. "Thank you, Hu Lai. After I get off the bus, please go back quickly before the water level gets too high. Thank you so much for risking your life to bring me here."
After An Youhe finished speaking, she pushed the car door open forcefully, only to have it slam shut again due to the wind.
Looking at the stubborn figure in the red raincoat, Hu Lai said, "Why are you talking like a farewell speech? Having a girlfriend like that is a blessing for the team leader."
...
Ye Zhou felt a cold, damp sensation all over his body, and water kept flowing down his face. He didn't know if it was blood. It didn't hurt at all, or perhaps he couldn't feel any pain anymore.
"Ye Zhou!"
"Ye Zhou!"
"Ye Zhou, where are you?"
Ye Zhou heard shouts in the rain, and the shouts grew closer and closer.
He stretched out his hand with difficulty.
The raindrops fell into my palm, dripping and pattering.
He was so cold that he almost lost consciousness.
Just a second ago, he seemed to be checking the signal, and everything was going smoothly; the cell tower had indeed been repaired.
Later, he became like this.
The world is too dangerous. At this moment, he remembered what his father, Ye Fan, had said before: "Who knows which will come first, an accident or tomorrow?"
The only thing he couldn't let go of was An Youhe; he didn't want to have any more regrets in his life.
My palm was held by a soft, warm hand.
"Ye Zhou, what happened to you? Waaah! Don't be afraid, hold on, I'm coming to save you."
Once he realized that An Youhe had really arrived, Ye Zhou instantly regained consciousness. However, he was pinned down by a huge, heavy stone slab and was completely unable to move.
"Why are you here?" Ye Zhou asked, his voice unusually hoarse.
The outstretched hand was tightly grasped by the girl. "Ye Zhouzhou, don't be afraid, it's alright."
My hand was released.
Through the gap between the ground and the stone slab, Ye Zhou saw a pair of delicate white hands.
Ye Zhou even had the mood to laugh, laughing at the girl's foolishness. He, a grown man, couldn't even push away a stone slab weighing several hundred pounds, so how could An Youhe, with such a small body, possibly push it away?
The immense pressure on his body had long since caused Ye Zhou to lose most of his senses.
And the weight is indeed decreasing little by little.
The gap between the ground and the stone slabs is getting bigger and bigger.
More light shone in.
When the stone slab was completely removed from his body by both hands, Ye Zhou seemed to see a Superman wearing a red raincoat.
The girl's eyes were red from crying, and she touched Ye Zhou's face with her bloodied and mangled hands.
"Ye Zhouzhou, it's alright now. Stay awake. We're waiting for someone to come and rescue us. Everything will be fine. Can you move your body now? Is anything in pain?"
