Zhang Wanwan clenched her fists, her eyes blazing with anger. She was not about to give up so easily!
...
"Old Zhou, let's meet again next time. The New Year is coming soon, are you going back home for the New Year?"
Liu Tian got into the taxi and leaned out the window.
"Of course we'll go back. Youhe and I will both go back."
"Great! This will make the New Year more lively." Liu Tian smiled happily.
After watching the taxi drive away, Ye Zhou turned and walked back to the office building.
He suddenly remembered that he hadn't gotten together with his college roommates for a long time; after graduation, they had all gone their separate ways.
He married An Youhe during his senior year of college, and after graduation, time flew by even faster.
In a daze, he looked at the orange-red sky in the distance and the birds startled in the forest, as if he had returned to the last days of his high school years.
"Ye Zhou!"
Ye Zhou slowly turned his head, and the soft sunlight shone on the person. The white dress fluttered in the wind, and for a moment, it was as if he saw an old friend.
Zhang Wanwan jogged over, her face showing youthful innocence and a defiant spirit. She stopped a meter away from Ye Zhou.
"Ye Zhou, didn't you say you didn't know my name? My name is Zhang Wanwan, and now we know each other, don't we?"
Ye Zhou glanced down at the girl, put his hands in his pockets, and turned to leave.
"I don't have time to get to know you."
Zhang Wanwan still caught up with him, "I'm here to talk business with you. I represent the Zhang Group. Now you have time, right?"
Ye Zhou stopped in his tracks. The Zhang Group did have some uses, but to send such a young girl to represent the company in negotiations, the Zhang Group really trusted their daughter.
He smiled dismissively, then suddenly remembered that many years ago, when he was eighteen or nineteen, he also took on a 5G project amidst everyone's skepticism, and successfully completed it.
"Now, what do you want to talk to me about?"
“Let’s talk about dating.” Zhang Wanwan blurted out, but seeing Ye Zhou’s cold face, she realized that such a joke was not so funny. “Let’s talk about the project we’re going to work on soon. Let’s find a place to talk and sit down and have a proper discussion.”
Zhang Wanwan put her hands behind her back and raised a playful smile.
Ye Zhou picked up his phone; it was his wife calling.
"Youhe, I'm going home for lunch. Is there anything you'd like to eat?"
"Honey, what are you doing right now?" The voice on the other end sounded a little downcast.
Ye Zhou glanced at the girl next to him, who was beaming with excitement, and said, "I have some official business to attend to, but it's nothing important."
"Oh, okay, then you go ahead and get busy."
Ye Zhou followed Zhang Wanwan into a nearby coffee shop.
Not far away, around the corner, An Youhe gripped her phone tightly, her eyes lowered, and touched her slightly protruding belly.
...
Ye Zhou was ruthless in negotiations, securing the greatest benefit for his company, while Zhang Wanwan remained completely unaware.
Ye Zhou returned home, and Wangfu barked. The room was dimly lit because the lights were off. He changed into slippers and went inside.
"Youhe, I'm back."
Normally at this time, An Youhe would come out of the room and rush towards him, but now there was no sound at all.
Ye Zhou had some doubts. He turned on the light and placed the hot steamed buns he had bought on the dining table.
After searching inside and out, they found that An Youhe was indeed not at home.
He remembered that when he called her earlier, the girl's voice sounded a little low, as if she wasn't in a good mood.
Only then did he remember to take out his phone and make a call.
After a few seconds of beeping, the call was answered.
"Youhe, where have you been? Why aren't you home?"
There was a brief pause on the other end, and then the girl's soft voice came through the microphone.
"Ye Zhou, I miss you."
"Where are you? I'm coming to find you," Ye Zhou said anxiously.
Before he could finish speaking, the call was disconnected.
Ye Zhou was somewhat flustered. He ran into the study, turned on the computer, and started typing rapidly on the keyboard, trying to imagine the worst-case scenario.
After performing the operation, he could clearly see the location of An You and the phone.
Yes, yes, it was near No. 1 Middle School, the high school they attended together.
A nearby internet cafe.
Ye Zhou threw on some clothes, rushed to the garage, got in his car, and drove off.
Two hours later.
The internet cafe looks almost exactly the same as it did years ago.
Many students were shouting and cursing their teammates, completely absorbed in their own world.
Ye Zhou searched row by row and finally found a petite figure in a corner.
The girl, wearing headphones, awkwardly moved the mouse while intently staring at the screen.
Ye Zhou stood behind her, quietly watching her operate the machine.
An Youhe didn't know how to play at all. She sent several teammates away and probably got scolded badly. The girl's shoulders shrugged slightly.
Suddenly, a large hand covered the girl's hand, and she looked behind her in a panic.
Ye Zhou stared at the screen and executed a series of actions, successfully turning the tide of the battle.
An Youhe's eyes were red as she took off her headphones.
Ye Zhou sat down beside her and reached out to ruffle the girl's soft hair. He said nothing, asked nothing, and simply looked at her with a slight smile.
The girl from before has grown up. Although she still has some baby fat on her cheeks, she has become more poised and elegant.
After a long while, An Youhe smiled with a pout, her nose tip red.
"The game isn't fun, honey, let's go home."
"Okay, let's go home."
After the two left the internet cafe, Ye Zhou straightened the bicycle and specially placed a soft cushion on the back seat.
