Chapter 101 Ning Yin Saves Chong Yu

Upon hearing that Chongyu had fallen into the lake, Empress Dowager Zhang nearly choked on the lychee she hadn't yet swallowed. She hurriedly asked the old eunuch to help her up and quickly ran outside.

Shen Jia, still clutching a lychee in her hand, ran out along with them.

There is also an artificial lake around Changle Palace, which is several meters deep. If a person falls in, it is very difficult to retrieve them.

By this time, several eunuchs had already jumped into the water. Empress Dowager Zhang stood anxiously on the shore, cursing these servants for not even being able to watch over a single person.

After searching for a while without finding anyone, Empress Dowager Zhang's heart pounded. If Chongyu died, the emperor probably wouldn't forgive her.

"What happened? The person was perfectly fine, how did they end up falling into the water!"

Empress Dowager Zhang turned and glared at the head palace maid, Mei Ying. Mei Ying lowered her head timidly. She couldn't very well say that Consort Chen had just arrived, and Princess Chongyu had caught a snake to tease Consort Chen, so Consort Chen pushed Chongyu away in a fit of anger.

In April and May, there were indeed some snakes, insects, and rodents hiding in the grass, but no one knew that Chongyu dared to catch snakes with his bare hands.

Consort Chen had come to pay her respects to the Empress Dowager. When she saw Chong Yu squatting by the lake, she went up and patted him on the shoulder. Unexpectedly, Chong Yu turned around and threw the snake at Consort Chen's face.

Consort Chen was so frightened by the slimy, unidentified creature that she almost fainted. But when she realized that it was a snake as thick as a forearm, her eyes lit up with rage.

Consort Chen was always revered by everyone in the harem. Not to mention throwing a snake in her face, even speaking to her required careful consideration.

If someone accidentally says something wrong, Consort Chen could punish them severely.

When she saw the disgusting, writhing snake on the ground, Consort Chen instantly flew into a rage, no longer caring that she was one of the emperor's most beloved princesses.

He reached out and pushed Chongyu into the lake with a splash. Before Chongyu could even cry out, the eunuchs and palace maids were stunned and hurriedly began to shout.

Empress Dowager Zhang saw Mei Ying trembling, then turned to Consort Chen and angrily asked, "Consort Chen, you speak!"

Consort Chen twisted her handkerchief with her fingers, feeling extremely guilty. So many palace maids and eunuchs had seen what had just happened. If Empress Dowager Zhang questioned them a little, they would definitely confess.

Right now, all she can do is pray to Buddha to protect her and hope that nothing bad happens to Chongyu, that fool.

Empress Dowager Zhang, with her sharp eyes, had long noticed Consort Chen's unusual behavior.

Seeing that Consort Chen was just hanging her head, her face darkened, and she looked anxiously at the lake.

Several eunuchs were exhausted from swimming, occasionally surfacing to gasp for air, then quickly diving back down to search.

"Consort Chen, if anything happens to Chongyu today, I will not let anyone off easily, especially the one who caused her to fall into the water."

Empress Zhang rose from a lowly palace maid to her current position; she was by no means an innocent, naive girl. In terms of palace intrigue, Consort Chen was nothing compared to her.

Unable to withstand Empress Dowager Zhang's threats, Consort Chen's legs buckled, and she instantly knelt at her feet, admitting that she had pushed Chongyu down.

"Consort Chen, you are utterly foolish!"

"Do you know how much the Emperor cares about Chongyu? How dare you push her? She threw a snake at you, and you couldn't even bear it, but you had to push her! You!"

Just as the two were extremely anxious, one of the eunuchs dragged someone over from a short distance away and swam over with difficulty.

Seeing this, Empress Dowager Zhang shouted to the other eunuchs, "Hurry up and go help!"

After a lot of effort, Chongyu was finally rescued, but he was now unconscious.

She had been in the water for too long, swallowing a lot of lake water. Consort Chen moved over and touched her with her hand; Chongyu's entire body was cold.

She plopped down on the ground, her face ashen; this was the end for her.

Fortunately, when Chongyu fell, the head palace maid Meiying ordered someone to fetch the imperial physician, but the physician had not yet arrived.

"You're all utter incompetent fools!!! If anything happens to Princess Chongyu, you'll all have to pay with your lives!"

A group of palace maids and eunuchs knelt on the ground. Shen Jia remembered that Ning Yin looked the same when her brother saved her.

Fortunately, a female doctor happened to be passing by in the crowd and immediately gave Ning Yin emergency treatment.

She remembered that the person seemed to press on Ningyin's chest quickly until Ningyin had expelled most of the water she had drunk, and then they began to administer acupuncture.

Shen Jia wanted to impress the Empress Dowager and win her favor so that she would have a chance to see Ning Yin.

Thinking it over, she quickly stepped forward and said, “Your Majesty, the imperial physicians have not yet arrived. Why don’t I try? I have seen the doctor’s method of treating people who have fallen into the water before.”

When Empress Dowager Zhang saw that the imperial physician was not arriving for a long time, and realized that Shen Jia did not seem to be joking, she nodded in agreement.

With permission, Shen Jia quickly knelt down and began pressing on the person's chest. She exerted all her strength to save the person, and her arms cramped from exhaustion, but she didn't dare to stop for a moment.

Her treatment was undoubtedly effective; Chongyu occasionally spat out some lake water and foam.

After a while, a palace maid led the imperial physician to the palace.

Everyone turned to look, and the person who came was none other than the Crown Princess Ning Yin.

When Empress Dowager Zhang saw Ning Yin, her expression was not good, but then again, Ning Yin was indeed an imperial physician.

I just don't know how this damned servant girl was able to get Ning Yin to come over.

"Granddaughter-in-law pays respects to the Empress Dowager."

Ning Yin bowed slightly. Originally, she was going to the Imperial Hospital to select some medicinal herbs so that she could continue developing the Snow Skin Cream.

As soon as she stepped out of the East Palace, she bumped into the palace maid. When the maid saw Ning Yin, she thought that since the Crown Princess was also a royal physician, it would save a lot of time if she could invite her over.
