On a winter morning, a thin layer of frost had formed.
Ningyin was drying persimmons in the yard, her face looking rosy and tender in the morning sun.
These past few days, Shen Yun went to Dongshan, and Ning Changfeng didn't bother him either; everything was unusually peaceful.
Just as all the persimmons were strung together and hung on the branches, a magnificent carriage suddenly appeared outside the courtyard.
Ning Yin squinted and looked out, and saw a maid jump down from the carriage. Then, with the maid's help, Yang Shuhuan slowly stepped down.
She wore a brocade skirt, jade hair ornaments, and delicate white fingertips, and was well-maintained.
Yang Shuhuan looked at the woman opposite her; she was dressed simply and had no decent jewelry.
The only pale pink velvet flower looked extremely cheap.
I couldn't help but feel contempt.
She had met Ning Yin before, but back then Ning Yin was still the mistress of the General's Mansion, and her food, clothing and daily necessities were quite refined.
Now she is nothing more than an ordinary farm woman.
She glanced up at the sign at the entrance again: Ning's Medical Clinic.
It's truly laughable that a woman would show her face in public and start a business; no wonder Wang Shi despised her to the extreme.
As expected of someone of humble origin, no amount of gilding can hide their inherent vulgarity.
In just a few minutes, Yang Shuhuan belittled Ning Yin a thousand times.
I came here today because while tidying up Yun Nuan Pavilion, I discovered that Ning Yin still had many clothes left in the mansion.
This Yun Nuan Pavilion is the mistress's courtyard, and it will belong to her in the future.
Seeing so many of Ning Yin's belongings in the room, Yang Shuhuan originally wanted to have the servants burn them all.
But suddenly she changed her mind; she had to come and see Ningyin.
By the way, return this trash to its original owner.
Ning Yin knew the visitor meant no good, but Duan Ran ignored him and continued with his work.
Yang Shuhuan frowned, feigning concern: "Sister Ningyin, so I really did find you here."
Ning Yin scoffed coldly, glanced at her lazily, and didn't respond at all.
Yang Shuhuan covered her face with her handkerchief and chuckled, "Sister, I only recently found out that the general had kicked you out of the manor. Otherwise, I should have come to see you sooner."
After Yang Shuhuan finished speaking, she gave the maid a wink.
The maid quickly took a package from the carriage and followed her into the courtyard.
"Sister, don't blame Brother Yun for being heartless. As the God of War of the Great Qi, he has to have some dignity. The mistress of the house comes from a lowly background, which will make outsiders laugh at him."
"But I still care about my sister. Winter is coming, and I know she might not have enough warm clothes, so I specially packed all her winter clothes over here. Anyway, she won't be going back, right?"
Yang Shuhuan had an innocent smile on her face; anyone who didn't know her would really think she was a kind-hearted girl.
Ning Yin lifted her eyelids and followed Yang Shuhuan's gaze to see the large bag of clothes.
She suddenly chuckled and walked over, deliberately patting Yang Shuhuan on the shoulder.
The dust that had just landed on Yang Shuhuan instantly filled the air around her.
Yang Shuhuan covered her mouth in disgust, but still had a smiling expression.
"Yang Shuhuan, since you care about me so much, could you please bring my clothes in?"
With that, he turned around and ignored the two of them, going straight into the house.
At that moment, Su Xin was cooking lunch in the kitchen, and the aroma wafted over.
Yang Shuhuan followed Ning Yin in, her eyes scanning the surroundings, which contained only a few cheap and broken pieces of furniture.
It seems that Ning Yin is indeed living a very frugal life, and Shen Yun has no intention of helping her at all.
Thinking about it, Yang Shuhuan was delighted and hurriedly told the maid to throw the large bundle of clothes on the ground.
"Sister, I've long heard that women who are divorced live a miserable life. I didn't believe it before, but now that I see you, I really understand."
"A woman should be obedient and stay at home to support her husband and raise her children, instead of showing her face in public and disobeying her husband."
Ning Yin poured herself a cup of tea and had just taken a sip when she was amused by Yang Shuhuan's remarks.
She casually pulled up a chair and sat down, glancing at Yang Shuhuan with half-open eyelids as if watching a joke.
"Yes, I don't need to behave myself to easily get what that person can't get even with all their scheming. It's just that that person treats the trash I don't want as treasure. Sister, do you think she's out of her mind?"
After Ning Yin finished speaking, her sharp eyes swept over Yang Shuhuan.
Yang Shuhuan sensed Ning Yin's underlying meaning, and felt resentful but didn't know how to respond.
She clenched her fists to control her expression, "What are you saying, sister? There's no such thing as a person who talks like that."
"No, it's right here, not far away. Didn't you see it? I didn't expect this person to not only be mentally challenged but also have poor eyesight."
After Ningyin finished speaking, she burst into laughter, just as Suxin brought up two plates of food.
Seeing his young mistress laughing happily, and then glancing at Yang Shuhuan's ashen face, he couldn't help but laugh along.
She had overheard Ning Yin and Yang Shuhuan's conversation in the kitchen. She wanted to come out and help her young mistress, but the food in the pot couldn't wait.
He quickly cooked the dish and rushed out, only to see Yang Shuhuan's face, which smelled worse than shit.
He was seething with hatred inside, but he had to pretend not to care.
"Miss, you said that person is mentally challenged. Shouldn't you give him a few acupuncture needles to drain the 'dirty water' from his brain?"
"That's right, but your young lady doesn't treat just any Tom, Dick, or Harry."
"Eat, eat! I'm starving!"
On the table was a dish of stir-fried cured pork with winter bamboo shoots and a dish of crucian carp and tofu soup, the aroma of which filled the entire house.
The two picked up their chopsticks and started eating, completely unaware of the two figures outside the courtyard.
