Chapter 32 Xiao Xuan's Background

On this day, a light rain was falling from the sky.

The mountains and fields were shrouded in mist, resembling a fairyland.

There were no patients at the clinic today; Ningyin and Suxin were roasting sweet potatoes around the stove.

Before long, it seemed as if a man dressed in a sky-blue satin brocade robe was seen riding a fine horse at full speed.

Ning Yin had sharp eyes and recognized the person as Li Xuan at a glance.

He hasn't come for some time since his last visit.

Ningyin grabbed a roasted sweet potato with her bare hands, rolled it around in her hand a few times, broke it in half, and handed one half to Suxin.

He immediately got up and walked to the door, where Xiao Xuan had already tied up the horse.

"Young Master Li has arrived. Are you feeling better?"

Ning Yin's voice was clear and bright, and she had a faint smile on her face.

Her skin appeared even whiter in winter, though her cheeks were flushed red from the cold.

Ningyin breathed out a puff of hot air and took a bite of the roasted sweet potato.

She ate with relish, as if a roasted sweet potato were the most delicious thing in the world.

Xiao Xuan smiled slightly, ignoring the increasingly dense rain, his eyes fixed only on the extraordinary woman opposite him.

Sweet and soft, it makes you want to hold it in your arms and cherish it.

"Young Master Li, what are you still standing there for? Come inside quickly."

Ning Yin freed one hand and waved at Xiao Xuan, who then snapped out of his thoughts and strode up the steps.

He had originally intended to wear the shoes Ning Yin had given him today, but unfortunately the weather wasn't cooperating, and he was afraid of getting them dirty, so he didn't wear them.

Seeing the crumbs on Ning Yin's face from eating roasted sweet potato, Xiao Xuan stretched out his large, well-defined hand.

Caught off guard, Ning Yin blushed and tilted her head to try to hide.

But then she heard a deep, resonant male voice: "Don't move."

Xiao Xuan carefully picked up the small piece of sweet potato crumb in his hand. "You ate it on your face, you little glutton."

Ning Yin smiled a little embarrassedly, not thinking much of it, and continued to nibble on the sweet potato in her hand.

Su Xin, who was behind her, looked up and met Xiao Xuan's drooling gaze. She quickly picked up two roasted sweet potatoes and slipped into her room.

"Young Master Li, how have you been lately?"

Ningyin invited the person in and poured them a cup of hot tea.

"Much better, but..."

Xiao Xuan frowned, but the words he was about to say remained unspoken.

Ning Yin put the roasted sweet potato in her hand aside and reached out to feel Xiao Xuan's pulse.

Compared to the previous times, this time the pulse was no different from that of a normal person, and even stronger than that of a normal person.

Ning Yin was overjoyed and pulled Xiao Xuan's sleeve up a little more. The red spots on her arm were scratched raw and swollen by Xiao Xuan.

"You didn't apply any ointment?"

"I've applied it, but my servants are clumsy and didn't do a very good job. So I came today to ask Miss Ning if she could help me with it, especially on my back, which I can't do myself."

Xiao Xuan seized the opportunity and blurted it out in one breath.

He kept his head down, not daring to look at Ning Yin, for fear that Ning Yin would think he was presumptuous and abrupt.

Unexpectedly, Ning Yin got up to get the sterilized silver needles and reached out to take off his clothes.

Xiao Xuan was caught off guard, his ears turned bright red, and he quickly stepped back.

"Miss Ning, you..."

"Take off your clothes. How can I clean your wound if you don't take off your clothes? Oh, wait a moment, I'll close the door. If you move closer to the stove, you won't be cold."

Ning Yin was very thoughtful. She quickly ran over and closed the door tightly, then moved the stove next to Xiao Xuan.

"Isn't this much warmer? Now take off your clothes."

Xiao Xuan felt somewhat uneasy as a woman told him to take off his clothes.

She wasn't shy at all; on the contrary, she seemed very enthusiastic.

"Is Miss Ning like this with every patient?"

Xiao Xuan asked awkwardly.

"Of course, in the eyes of a doctor, there is no distinction between men and women, so don't be shy, take it off quickly, otherwise the wound will get infected, which will be very troublesome."

After Ning Yin finished explaining, Xiao Xuan felt a mix of emotions. She cared about him a lot, but she dealt with all kinds of patients every day, so it was inevitable that she would encounter people with ill intentions.

For example, like myself today, I could have easily let the servants handle the matter, but I insisted on finding an excuse to ask her to do it.

Thinking of this, Xiao Xuan became restless. He should speed things up and bring the person to the East Palace as soon as possible.

Seeing that Xiao Xuan was still dawdling, Ning Yin's tone became more forceful, "Young Master Li, if you won't let me handle this, then I'll have Su Xin come over?"

"No, I trust Miss Ning's medical skills more."

Xiao Xuan hurriedly stopped Ning Yin, quickly took off his outer robe, and then deftly unbuttoned his inner garment; his skin was a wheat color.

Despite being chronically ill and weak, his muscles are firm and full because of his persistent martial arts practice.

Ning Yin glanced at it briefly, and her face burned. What was wrong with her today? She had treated wounds for many patients before, so why was she so terrified today?

Just then, Xiao Xuan looked up, and their eyes met.

"What's wrong, Miss Ning?"

Xiao Xuan's cool eyes flickered, and his humble and polite demeanor made Ning Yin's face flush even more.

"Hehe, nothing much. Although Young Master Li is physically weak, his muscles are quite toned, hehehe..."

As soon as Ning Yin finished speaking, she realized that her words seemed a bit off.

He quickly added, "What I mean is that Young Master Li's martial arts training is still useful. Combined with my traditional Chinese medicine, it will definitely cure his illness."

She's really hitting a nerve, like she's lost her mind. She's never acted like this before when she saw Shen Yun.

It wasn't until Ning Yin came up behind Xiao Xuan that she noticed that his back not only had red rashes, but also shocking scars.
