Judge Chen, holding the heavy mortar and pestle, was so angry that his face turned black, and he gritted his teeth.
"Hehehe, not bad, Ning Yin. You really think you can betray the Imperial Hospital just because you have connections? Don't forget, who calls the shots in this Imperial Hospital."
The man glared with snobbish eyes and threatened menacingly.
Ning Yin merely glanced at him lazily, then put away the mortar and pestle and continued grinding the medicine.
"Does Imperial Physician Chen really think that the Imperial Hospital is your private property, and that everyone has to pay you rent?"
His voice was neither warm nor cold, but Judge Chen's face had changed from dark to flushed.
No matter what, he was a veteran doctor with decades of experience.
This naive young girl dared to defecate on his head; he'd better teach her a lesson.
Thinking it over, Judge Chen let out a cold laugh and turned to the other court officials, instructing them: "Have all the medicines for each palace been delivered? If not, hurry up and deliver them. Today, all of your duties will be handled by Court Official Ning."
The people around Ning Yin looked up and whispered among themselves.
Judge Chen said again, "What, don't you understand what I'm saying? Put down what you're doing and deliver the medicine first!"
The group exchanged glances, not wanting to offend Judge Chen because of a newcomer, as he was the most senior member of the Imperial Medical Academy.
"You think you're so great? If you don't finish all this work today, you're not going to sleep."
Judge Lu smugly flicked his sleeves, put his hands behind his back, hummed a little tune, and prepared to go back to sleep.
To my surprise, as soon as I turned around, I heard a junior staff member run back.
"Judge Chen, someone is looking for you outside. It seems like something important has happened. Please go out and take a look."
Who is it?
"Master Li..."
"Lord Li? Which Lord Li?"
Xiao Yuanshi was stumped by the question. In fact, he wasn't quite sure either, as he had only been in the Imperial Hospital for three months.
This is the first time I've ever seen a man with such an otherworldly appearance; he's truly incredibly handsome.
Chen Yuanpan did not press the matter further, but instead strode out of the Imperial Hospital muttering to himself.
But when he got to the door, he looked around but didn't see anyone.
"Damn it, this brat dares to mess with this judge!"
As soon as he finished speaking, Judge Chen felt a tightness on his shoulder and was then dragged into the woods behind him.
Qingying dragged the person over, while Li Chengyan crossed his arms, looking ready to interrogate him.
"Tsk tsk tsk, what an imposing official air! Are you second only to the emperor? Or do you not even know who this palace belongs to anymore? Is it surnamed Chen or Xiao?"
Judge Chen's arm was twisted so badly by Qingying that it was almost deformed. The man winced in pain and almost cried out.
He cursed and swore, "How dare you! You know I'm the Chief Justice, yet you still dare to act like this! Believe me or not, I'll report you to His Majesty!"
"Sue? Heh heh heh, go ahead and do it!"
Li Chengyan took two steps closer, took out the token from his waist and flashed it in front of Judge Chen, then slapped his face hard.
Slap, slap, slap! Judge Chen's face was struck with a crisp sound by the pure gold token.
Coming to his senses, he realized that this seemed to be Lord Li, a trusted confidant of the Crown Prince.
Judge Chen's heart raced, and he was completely dumbfounded.
"You...are His Highness the Crown Prince's person?"
"I'll say it again, put away your official airs. If I see you bullying Miss Ning again, it won't be such a light lesson! Do you understand?"
"Hey, hey, I was blind and didn't recognize your greatness. I'll never dare to do it again. Please spare my life, sir."
Li Chengyan glanced at him with disgust, then took out a pill from his sleeve and stuffed it directly into Chen Yuanpan's mouth.
When Chen Yuanpan tried to vomit, Li Chengyan simply pinched his chin and lifted it up, causing his Adam's apple to bob a few times before he swallowed the large pill.
Before he could even taste the pill, Li Chengyan suddenly chuckled softly.
"No one is allowed to mention this, otherwise... well, you should prepare to go to your coffin."
The man's tone was mocking, and his words were innocuous, but Chen Yuanpan was already sweating profusely with fear.
If Qingying hadn't grabbed his arm, he probably would have collapsed by now.
Li Chengyan uttered a single sentence, and Qingying then threw the person down.
The two were incredibly skilled; in just a moment, they vanished without a trace.
Chen tried desperately to vomit, but nothing came out.
This must be some rare poison, the kind that can cause excruciating pain.
The thought of possibly dying overwhelmed him, and he covered his face and wept.
By noon, Ning Yin had just finished grinding a pile of medicinal herbs when she saw Chen Yuanpan's forlorn figure.
The arrogant look on that face was gone, replaced by a lifeless, half-dead appearance.
Ning Yin ignored him and went straight to the kitchen for her meal.
"etc!"
Ning Yin turned around. "What, does Imperial Physician Chen have any further instructions?"
"Hehehe, nothing else to instruct me."
Suddenly, Judge Chen grinned and stepped forward, snatching the tableware from Ning Yin's hand.
Ning Yin couldn't help but sneer, "What, does Judge Chen want to abuse his power for personal gain, bully me, and prevent me from eating?"
After Ning Yin finished speaking, she reached out to grab the tableware, but then Judge Chen moved aside, creating distance between them.
"How could that be? Hehehe..."
Judge Chen sighed, remained silent for a few seconds, and finally put on a stern face.
"You don't need to do this yourself. I can do it. You just sit and rest. I'll be right back."
