Chapter 7 The Wicked Stepmother

Her son, Ning Changfeng, was also spoiled and dissolute by her.

He spent his days in gambling dens and brothels.

Ningyin and Suxin had just squeezed out of the crowd at Emerald Lake when they suddenly felt someone tugging at their sleeves.

Without noticing who it was, Ning Yin forcefully swung her arm and flung Liu's hand away.

Liu's arm snapped with a crack when Ning Yin swung it. It almost dislocated.

Her grotesque, fleshy face trembled. She wanted to curse, but then she suddenly remembered the instructions Shen Jia had given her during the day.

This morning, Liu went to the street to buy jewelry and happened to run into Shen Jia at the jewelry store.

Upon closer inspection, Shen Jia recognized Ning Yin, her shameless stepmother.

He immediately came up with a plan.

She used the General's Mansion and the Ning family's business as leverage to coerce Liu into ruining Ning Yin's reputation.

Lady Liu wasn't stupid; she wouldn't give up being the general's mother-in-law.

To cut down one's own cash cow is either stupid or malicious.

But when Shen Jia revealed that the two had already divorced, Liu Shi felt an urge to strangle Ning Yin, that brainless woman.

Now, all of the Ning family's business dealings rely on the support of the General's Mansion.

If Shen Jia really wanted to cut off her source of income, there was nothing she could do.

In the end, Liu had no choice but to grit her teeth and agree to this deal, which didn't seem like a bad deal.

She comforted herself with this thought, believing that once this matter was accomplished, Shen Jia wouldn't treat her unfairly.

She composed herself, her face breaking into a loving motherly smile.

"Ah Yin, where is your son-in-law at the lantern festival?"

Liu's lips curled slightly as she deliberately tested Ning Yin, but Ning Yin's expression remained indifferent.

She continued, "Guess who I ran into on the street today?"

Ning Yin still ignored her and made a step as if to leave, so Liu quickly gave up her plan to keep her in suspense.

"Hey, wait a minute, Ayin, I ran into your grandmother's brother today. I heard that his granddaughter has some kind of strange illness that many famous doctors have been unable to cure."

“I was thinking that you learned some medical skills from your grandmother since you were a child, and I wanted to ask you to treat her.”

After Liu finished speaking, she noticed that Ningyin's expression changed, so she continued to embellish the story.

"I was just thinking that he was really good to you back then, and now that his granddaughter has a strange illness, shouldn't our family help her out?"

"You mean Qiaoxin?"

He naturally remembered that his grandmother had a younger brother. When he was a child, his grandmother would take him to his home, and this uncle treated him quite well.

However, the two families interacted less and less over time, and their relationship gradually faded.

But after all, he was her grandmother's only brother, and his granddaughter was also her grandmother's granddaughter; she had a duty to help him.

Turning around, Ning Yin glanced past Liu Ruhui's disgusting face.

He said calmly, "Okay, I'll go see her."

Liu Ruhui's face lit up with joy; she was one step closer to success, and she quickly added...

“Ayin, your great-uncle has moved now, and you don’t know exactly where he lives.”

I happen to have a carriage here, so I'll take you there. We're relatives, so I'll help you if I can.
