Chapter 75 Little Brother
When the ferocious face of the black bear came right in front of him, Yun Chen didn't even have time to scream.
Her scalp tingled and she immediately spread her legs and ran for her life.
The black bear behind her raised its paw to grab her, and its sharp claws swung across her from behind, scratching her shoulder.
She felt as if she was hit by a hammer, and her shoulder was immediately covered in blood.
She endured the severe pain, covered her shoulder and ran for her life.
Not to mention that she was unarmed now, even if she had the Hidden Moon Sword, she was not sure she could kill a big black bear alone.
People have moves when they fight, but bears don't. They only have infinite brute force and sharp teeth. They don't negotiate and their only goal is to eat people.
With her shoulder injured and bleeding, and not familiar with the road, she ran around in the woods like a headless fly, with the big black bear chasing her relentlessly, showing no intention of giving up.
After running a long circle, she finally ran back to where she started.
The voice came from the tree again:
"Climb a tree! This black bear can't climb a tree!"
Yun Chen quickly spotted the nearest tree and swooped up to it like a monkey.
The big black bear that was chasing him caught up at the same time, its claws brushed past the back of Yun Chen's head, and it slapped the tree trunk with its palm.
Yun Chen used his hands and feet to climb up several feet before stopping. He hugged the tree in shock and coughed repeatedly from exhaustion.
As she gasped for breath, the thick fog gradually dissipated, and she saw a pale young man sitting on the tree opposite.
Judging from the way she is wearing a bun, she looks about seven or eight years old. It would be more appropriate to call her a child rather than a teenager.
Yun Chen felt that he had never run so hard in his life, and his throat was filled with a fishy and sweet taste.
"Thanks, kid," she gasped.
Under the tree, the big black bear, having missed its target, roared angrily and banged its body against the tree repeatedly.
The tree trunk shook violently and Yun Chen almost slipped down. She was so scared that she quickly held on to the branch.
"Don't be afraid, the beast is just angry. It will be fine after venting for a while." The child in the tree opposite spoke to comfort him. It was obvious that he had experienced this before.
Sure enough, after the big black bear got angry for a while and vented his anger, he stopped hitting the tree and started circling around under the tree, sniffing around.
Yun Chen let out a long sigh and collapsed on a tree branch exhausted.
Seeing that the child was alone and a little dirty, but much better than Yun Chen, he looked like a child from a wealthy family. She asked:
"Little boy, why did you come to this deep forest by yourself? It's so dangerous. Don't you have any guards?"
"My name is Yan Lang." He pointed to the big black bear below, which was chewing on something. "I'm guarding there."
Yun Chen looked in the direction he was looking and found that the big black bear was actually holding a human leg and gnawing on it!
"I went into the mountains to collect herbs and met this beast. He ate three of my guards and wanted to eat me, so he kept wandering under the tree." Yan Lang said.
Yun Chen saw that his trouser legs were torn at his ankles and his socks were soaked with blood. It was obviously caused by the big black bear. He couldn't help but curse:
"This beast must be addicted to eating people!"
Yan Lang nodded. "That's right. It couldn't get me, so it took advantage of the fog to disguise itself as a human. It took my guard's hat and put it on its head. Then it stood and waved like a human, hoping to confuse passing hunters. The fog was so thick that if you really got close to it and saw it clearly, you wouldn't be able to escape."
With the black bear's skills and size, it only needed to pounce forward and Yun Chen would be dead.
Thinking of this, Yun Chen couldn't help but feel scared. She was afraid that the black bear had become a spirit and would disguise itself to deceive people. She also sighed that if the child hadn't reminded her, she would probably have died in a foreign country.
"Thank you very much, kid..." Seeing Yan Lang's unhappy expression, she quickly changed her words:
"I mean, little friend Yan Lang..."
Yan Lang's face turned even uglier, and she changed her tone:
"Little one?"
“…”
"Boy?"
“…”
"Zongjiao?"
“…”
Finally, under Yan Lang's expression, which was darker than a black bear's, she finally found a polite but inappropriate name:
"Master Yan Lang, thank you very much, otherwise my neck would have been bitten off by a bear."
Yan Lang seemed quite satisfied with this name. "When that beast catches a person, it doesn't bite the neck. Instead, it likes to eat from the feet. Usually, it won't die until it has eaten all the way to the stomach. My three guards are all like that."
Yun Chen felt a chill when she heard this. Seeing Yan Lang's calm narration, as if he was talking about something insignificant, she felt it was even more weird and terrifying.
She suddenly realized that this child, who looked only eight years old, spoke in a tone and manner similar to that of an adult.
"Yan Lang, how old are you?"
Yan Lang looked at her quietly, "Eight years old."
She patted her chest and said, "I'm nineteen, you have to call me brother."
Yan Lang didn't say anything, but his eyes became cold and distant.
The two were trapped in a tree, one injured his shoulder and the other injured his ankle.
The big black bear kept wandering under the tree, and from time to time it would dig out a few human legs and arms from the grass and chew on them.
After knowing that it was a human being, and a guard like her, Yun Chen felt a chill on her back and couldn't help wanting to vomit.
Yan Lang was obviously much calmer than her. Every time the big black bear bit his guard, there was no reaction on his face, and he didn't look as uncomfortable as Yun Chen.
It can’t be called indifference, nor can it be called disdain, it’s just a kind of... disregard and indifference that makes Yun Chen very uncomfortable.
It seemed as if nothing around him could catch his eye or stir his emotions.
The look he gave the guard he was with day and night was colder than the look he gave stone.
"Yan Lang, how many days have you been trapped?"
"Three days."
"Let's run away. This isn't a solution."
Yun Chen stared at the big black bear and began to think of a solution.
Yan Lang saw her searching carefully around and asked, "How are you going to escape?"
She untied her now-dirty belt and expertly wrapped it around her shoulder to stop the bleeding. "Let's figure it out together. We need to find something to distract it."
After a moment of silence, Yan Lang said:
"You can hit me with a branch. I'll fall from the tree, attracting the beast. Then you can escape while it's eating me."
Yun Chen's eyes widened in horror. "Little brother, I, Yun Chen, have been a guard for a long time. I have seen many living devils, but this is the first time I have seen a 'living Bodhisattva' like you..."
Seeing Yan Lang talking about this method of luring away the black bear, his expression was calmer than the guard who talked about how he was eaten alive by the black bear. Yun Chen suddenly felt that Yan Lang was more terrifying than the black bear.
"Little brother, do your parents always abuse you? Are your family members not good to you?" Yun Chen really couldn't think of any reason that would make an eight-year-old child so indifferent to life and death.
Yan Lang chuckled, and Yun Chen heard full of contempt in that laugh.
A kind of contempt that is difficult to describe, arrogant yet subtle.
It was as if he felt deep down that Yun Chen's well-intentioned guess was ridiculous.
Yun Chen didn't want to talk to this strange child anymore, but Yan Lang looked at her bandaging her shoulder and the dirty belt that was too dirty to look at, and suddenly said:
"You won't live past forty."
