Chapter 42 Send You a Ride
Yun Chen asked, "Young Master, do you think... should I continue to look for my benefactor?"
Huo Gannian almost blurted out, "Don't look for it!"
But when the words came to his lips, he swallowed them back.
He understood that for a person with such a strong mind like her to ask such a question meant that she had been shaken because of the Huo Gang - or because of him.
He didn't want to admit that this hesitation was actually all due to "loyalty and righteousness", and he would rather deceive himself at this moment.
This dream, like the reflection of the moon in the water, which would shatter with a slight poke, was too rare and too precious to him.
"Go and look for it. Even if it's one last try, you won't regret it," he said.
She looked gloomy, as if explaining to him:
"If I don't look for it, and I die and go to the underworld, if I meet my benefactor, I don't know what to say to him."
His heart ached and tightened for no apparent reason. "I'll speak for you. Just say..."
The next moment, reason could no longer stop him from speaking:
He said, "I can't bear to let you go."
A childish grin appeared on her face, and she thought that this "reluctance" was purely a master's reluctance to part with his personal guard, and she didn't notice the emotion that was about to burst out in his eyes.
"Master, thank you."
"Go ahead. Yunchen, you know where to go."
She put the letter in her pocket and then bowed and took her leave.
He sat quietly at the desk, sighed deeply, leaned back in his chair in frustration, his heart once again filled with gloom and sadness.
He opened a new book and copied the Huo family rules from the beginning again.
He couldn't remember how many times he had copied it.
Over and over again, he wrote the words "The government's morals are upright and the relationship between Long Yang is forbidden" in more than 300 rules, writing them down in pain and confusion.
He wrote until his hands were sore, then he stopped, turned his wheelchair to the stove, and threw the book in again.
Watching the pages of the book slowly curl up, turn black, and burn into pieces, he wished that his heart could be burned cleanly in the same way.
Finally calming down a little, he turned his wheelchair and walked out, but his peripheral vision caught a glimpse of the guest seat where Yun Chen had just sat, and his brows jumped.
There was a bright red mark the size of a fingernail on the new white velvet cushion.
No words were spoken that night.
Early the next morning, Yun Chen left with the address.
In order to get back before the New Year, Yun Chen rode as fast as he could without stopping for a moment.
It took her half a month to get there, but she managed to complete the journey in just seven days.
In a town not far from Youzhou, there was a knock on the door of a mansion. When the servant opened the door, he saw a "young man" who was dusty and panting with exhaustion.
After explaining the reason for his visit, Yun Chen was even unwilling to enter the house. He just asked the servant to pass on the message and ask if the host had anything with the pattern of plum blossom breaking the moon.
After receiving a negative answer, Yun Chen happily replied, "I know! Thank you, little brother!" and then rode away like the wind.
The servant was completely confused and thought that the young man who was looking for kindness was too careless.
Yun Chen couldn't help laughing and shouting, letting his mind go completely free. He rode his horse as fast as lightning, startling passers-by and making them look back.
She rushed to Canghai City without stopping, bought food and wine in the city, and then rushed to Xiangxiao Cliff without stopping.
Before the person arrived, the voice came first. She shouted:
"Master, I'm here to see you—Master, I'll be leaving soon!"
She dismounted, quickly placed wine on the immortal's tomb, and bowed. Then she pulled out a bulging purse from her bosom and said happily to her master:
"Master, I'm finally wealthy. I've never bought anything for you. This little bit of silver is a gift to you, so I can buy you some new clothes."
Her master had worn a black robe for many years, and many parts of it were worn out and transparent. She had always been thinking about it.
The master didn't say much, just asked her to go and wash up before talking, and not to be rude in front of the immortal's tomb.
She did as she was told, and when she looked towards the water's edge, she realized that she was disheveled and dirty, like a savage.
After finishing her work, she returned to her master:
"Master, I won't look for the benefactor anymore. I plan to stay with Young Master Huo."
The master's eyes were calm. "Stay in the Huo Gang? I've been looking for my benefactor for six years. Everything is going well, why don't you look for him anymore?"
Seeing her blushing and silent, the master asked again, "Is it because of Huo Gannian? Does he know you are a woman?"
She shook her head vigorously, "I don't know! Master, Young Master Huo has been very kind to me and generous in helping me find my benefactor. He has entrusted his life and property to a personal guard like me, and I cannot let him down."
The master stared at her face with a pair of penetrating and scrutinizing eyes, which made her feel a little timid.
"I didn't lie, Master."
"You're not lying, I know."
The master thought for a moment, then took out his sword and said, "I'll teach you a few more moves. You stay and learn them before you leave."
"Ah..." This way, I might not be able to celebrate the New Year with Huo Gannian...
She kept these words in her mouth and didn't dare to say them out loud.
The master glanced at her calmly and asked, "Don't you want to?"
She quickly smiled ingratiatingly and answered loudly: "Yes! Hehe!"
It doesn't matter if it's late. At worst, I can run faster on the road. It's a rare opportunity to learn the tricks left by the master.
After nine days, the fragrance disappeared from the cliff and in front of the immortal's tomb.
The two long swords danced with silver light like snow and sword energy like a rainbow.
The two figures were as fast as lightning, almost leaving afterimages in the air.
Although the sword did not draw blood, the flowers, plants and trees on the Fragrant Cliff all wailed as if they had been killed by the cold sword.
Yun Chen knew that his master was a martial arts expert, and even though he had only learned one-tenth or one-twelfth of his skills, he already stood out among the many guards.
Who would have thought that her master's swordsmanship was so profound and unfathomable that she could not even begin to compare with him.
She also realized that the sword skills she had been taught before were just the basics, but they were also the foundation.
The actual practice in the past few years has helped her make great progress on top of her solid foundation. In just nine days, she successfully learned everything her master taught her.
In the last battle, she gave it her all and sweated profusely.
With a clang, the sword in the master's hand was chopped away.
The Hidden Moon Sword stopped in front of the master's throat. The straight sword blade glowed slightly blue in the sunlight, looking proud and majestic.
The master breathed slightly, and a hint of recognition finally appeared on his face, which never showed any expression.
"Go ahead, that's enough."
Yun Chen completely relaxed, panting as he held the sword, almost too tired to speak, and said with a smile:
"Hehe, Master, you are old, otherwise I definitely can't beat you!"
After completing his studies, Yun Chen immediately rode his horse away.
Then, a carriage came from the opposite direction and slowly stopped beside the immortal's tomb.
A man got off the carriage and stood in front of the tombstone.
"This is your only disciple. Are you willing to send her to death?"
Seeing no response, the visitor raised his hand and gently stroked the tombstone, then said:
"It's just that you feel guilty about her, so you want to send an innocent child to fight. You taught her these killer moves because the Huo Gang has allied with the princess, and you want to send her to be the princess's pawn, right?"
Still no response.
The visitor seemed to have finally lost his patience, and said with a murderous smile:
"Jiang Ming, when will you die? Do you want me to give you a ride?"
