Chapter 240 Causing Trouble with a Dog
In her dream, after Kong Wange finished asking her question, unfortunately, she was not met with her mother's smiling face. In a flash, the person in front of her suddenly became Murong Ting.
He looked at her with resentment and said aggrievedly, "Wanwan, how could you secretly take the child to the Wen family? Don't you want me anymore?"
Beside him squatted a large black dog. Murong Ting pointed at the dog and ordered, "Old Blackie, this woman is heartless and ungrateful, bite her!"
Just as the big black dog pounced, Kong Wange jolted awake, startled.
Still shaken, she touched her chest, wondering if she had developed PTSD from Murong Ting.
Otherwise, why would I have dreamt of such a scene? It was too terrifying...
After a few minutes of waking up, she took a deep breath, glanced at the time—7:10 a.m., and it was already bright outside the window.
She patted her face to wake herself up, then prepared to get out of bed to wash up.
However, just as she put on her slippers, she heard a series of "woof woof woof" sounds outside.
She was stunned for a moment.
What's the meaning?
Did her dream become reality, or was she hallucinating?
She got up and walked a few steps to the window. She immediately saw a boy standing outside—about sixteen or seventeen years old, tall and thin, with a head of flamboyant red hair.
Normally, this hair color would look rather edgy, but this boy is quite good-looking, with a pointed chin, almond-shaped eyes, and fair skin. So, this hair color actually makes him look both cool and handsome.
In an instant, a question arose in Kong Wange's mind.
Who is this boy? Is he also a member of the Wen family?
But the Wen family is a family of traditional Chinese medicine practitioners with strict family discipline. How could they allow someone to dress like that?
With a puzzled look in her eyes, she glanced again at the large wolfhound crouching next to the boy.
The dog was majestic, with jet-black, shiny fur. It squatted there and was almost as tall as the boy's thighs. It was clearly well-fed and cared for.
Meanwhile, the boy in the courtyard was unaware that he had been discovered. He led the big dog and carefully instructed it, "General, why are you in such a hurry? Don't bark now. Wait until that woman comes out before you bark. After you bark, bite her, and then run away. Do you understand?"
The boy squatted down, patted the head of the black dog called "General," and continued, "Good luck. If you get today's business done, I'll give you a bonus... two extra cans of meat!"
The dog seemed quite intelligent; upon hearing about the canned meat, it wagged its tail enthusiastically and whined and squeaked at the boy as if it were being affectionate.
Kong Wange was speechless for a while.
The fact that this young man dares to so openly unleash his dog to bite people here means he must be a member of the Wen family.
The Wen family is truly incompatible with her; each one is more eccentric than the last.
She glanced around, a slight smile playing on her lips, and turned to go to the bathroom to wash up.
When soldiers come, generals will block them; when water comes, earth will be used to build fortifications.
Whoever this boy is, since he wants to use a wolfhound to intimidate her, and since she has nothing else to do, she might as well play along.
It was just a dog; she wasn't afraid at all. Back in the countryside, she had played with dogs countless times.
In the courtyard.
The boy waited for about ten minutes.
It was almost time for breakfast, but Kong Wange still hadn't made any plans to come out.
He impatiently glanced at his watch, kicking pebbles at his feet in boredom, muttering under his breath, "This woman has no manners at all. Let her be lazy to death. What time is it and she still won't get up?"
"No one in the Wen family has ever dared to keep me waiting this long. When she comes out, I'll make sure she knows how powerful I am..."
Five more minutes passed.
The boy completely lost his patience, kicked a pebble far away, and yelled in frustration, "Ughhhh, why isn't it coming out yet? This is so annoying! I might as well just barge into the house!"
"That's right, why don't I just barge in? Waiting for the rabbit to run into the tree stump is not as good as closing the door and unleashing the dogs. I'll just go in, close the door, and let the general display his might. Isn't the effect the same?"
The boy figured it out and happily strode forward to smash the door.
Just as his fist was about to smash down, the door suddenly opened.
He almost fell face-first into the door, but luckily he was young and agile, and with quick reflexes, he grabbed the door frame and regained his footing.
"You woman, how dare you..." The young man rolled up his sleeves and pointed at Kong Wange, ready to teach her a lesson. However, when their eyes met, he was speechless.
Kong Wange was wearing a simple light blue dress with a cinched waist that accentuated her slender figure. Her jet-black hair was styled in a simple braid, and her fair skin, combined with the dress and hair, made her appear even more ethereal and beautiful.
The boy's throat bobbed slightly, and a thought of admiration involuntarily arose in his mind: "Wow, this is so good..."
Didn't Sister Xiaoxiao say she was a poor relative from the countryside? How come she's so beautiful?
As the saying goes, clothes make the man, so could these be new clothes that the Wen family bought for her?
He instinctively took a step back, forgetting that he was still holding the dog leash.
The general behind him let out a sob, and the boy instantly snapped back to reality.
What is he doing? What's the use of being pretty? No matter how pretty it is, it's still a thorny wild rose from the countryside, it'll prick you!
He's here today to stand up for Sister Xiaoxiao.
How could we be so easily intimidated by her!
Gritting his teeth, he puffed out his chest and asked directly, "You're Kong Wange? The woman who bullied my sister Xiaoxiao and stole her spot to enter the Imperial Academy?"
Kong Wange tapped her slender fingers lightly, a hint of mockery on her lips: "That's right, I am Kong Wange. And who are you?"
The boy said arrogantly, "Never mind who I am. You haven't answered my question yet. Did you bully Sister Xiaoxiao?"
Kong Wange replied casually, "Don't try to pin any accusations on me. Who bullied her? I earned my spot in the Imperial Academy through my own abilities. It's you brat who came to cause trouble for me first thing in the morning. I think it's you who are bullying me."
The boy was speechless for a moment, then stomped his feet angrily and said, "You...you're going to be the death of me! Fine, I can't argue with you, I'll have the general talk to you. General, charge!"
He then retreated to a distance.
The general on the side had been eager to try. At his command, it sprang up like a spring and pounced on Kong Wange!
In a flash, Kong Wange smiled and pulled out a string of sausages from behind her back.
The aroma of meat filled the air.
The general's forward-leaning body paused, and with a thud, he landed vertically on the ground.
Kong Wange shook the large sausage in her hand.
The general immediately bowed his head obediently, wagging his big tail, drooling as it streamed down his face, his eyes fixed intently on the sausage.
On the other side, the boy, seeing this, was furious and shouted with exasperation, "General, you traitor! You were bribed with just a string of sausages? Once we deal with this woman, I'll open a sausage factory for you so you can eat your fill!"
