Chapter 345 He emerged from the firelight

Chapter 345 He emerged from the firelight

Before Lin Cheng could finish speaking, Murong Ting snatched the bottled water from his hand: "Contact the fire department and tell them to speed things up."

Without waiting for Lin Cheng's reaction, he rushed into the fire.

The students outside were chatting in twos and threes when suddenly a dark figure darted inside.

"Holy crap, did someone just break in?!"

"Yes, it looks like someone wearing black. Did you see who it was?"

"I didn't even see his face, all I saw were those long legs! The fire was already so big, why was he still rushing in? Was he crazy?"

Everyone was stunned and started discussing among themselves.

Murong Ting rushed inside and wet his clothes to cover his mouth and nose.

The fire inside was raging, with intense flames and billowing smoke.

He dialed Kong Wange's number again and again, but all he got was a message that the call could not be connected.

He simply gave up and called out, "Wanwan—Can Wanwan hear me?"

He listened again and again until he choked and couldn't speak. Suddenly, he heard a melodious song coming from... the northwest corner.

In the pharmacy, Kong Wange was no longer fully conscious. The exhaust fan had stopped working due to the high temperature, and the oxygen in the room was becoming increasingly scarce. No matter how much mint she used, it was to no avail.

The temperature inside the medicine room was extremely high, and the door sizzled as if being cooked in hot oil.

Just when she thought she was about to give up, she suddenly heard a familiar voice.

The sound was faint and very soft; she initially thought she was hallucinating from the fumes.

She took another deep breath of the mint leaf, completely absorbed.

"Wanwan—Wanwan—"

It really is Murong Ting's voice!

It was Murong Ting calling her, but why would he come? Didn't he know how dangerous this place was?!

Kong Wange wanted to respond to him, but the smoke made her too weak to do so.

Clutching her phone, she suddenly had a flash of inspiration. She opened NetEase Cloud Music, where she found her cached local songs, and turned the volume up to the maximum.

The melodious strains of "Little White Boat" played.

As she played music, she stood up and stumbled toward the door, calling out, "I'm here!"

The next moment, a deafening noise came from outside. Kong Wange was stunned for a moment before realizing that it was the man outside kicking the door!

"Wanwan, get out of the way!" the man shouted from outside the door.

Kong Wange staggered and dodged to the side.

One, two, three—

With a loud crash, the door collapsed!

A man dressed in black walked towards her amidst the blazing firelight.

He was covered in soot and looked quite disheveled.

But his back was straight and his arms were strong. The moment he saw her, he couldn't hide the joy in his eyes, and his tightly pressed lips finally showed a barely perceptible curve.

Kong Wange stared at him blankly, frozen in place for a moment.

The next second, the man strode in and hugged her tightly in the scorching heat.

His arms were strong and powerful, as if he wanted to crush her to the bone.

At that moment, Kong Wange finally couldn't hold back her tears and they fell silently into the other person's coat.

Hearing a voice is different from holding a real person.

Only now did she dare to believe that he had really come; the person who was least likely to be here had appeared.

It was only at this moment that she believed that there really was someone willing to risk their life to break in just to take her away.

Kong Wange's throat felt like it was blocked; all her emotions finally coalesced into a single, mundane question: "Why are you here?"

"Thank goodness I came. Don't be afraid, I'm here." The fire outside continued to spread. Murong Ting said no more, released her, and gently wiped away the tears on her face: "How are you? Can you walk?"

Kong Wange nodded, suppressing the urge to cry as her nose stung.

This wasn't the time to let emotions get the better of her. She looked up at him and asked, "Okay, how are you? You're not burned, are you?"

"I'm fine." Murong Ting took off his wet coat and draped it over her shoulders. "Put this on. When I say we're leaving, just follow me and rush out, understand?"

Kong Wange realized what was happening and reached out to take off her clothes: "You keep the clothes on, I don't want them."

"Wanwan," Murong Ting grabbed her and pressed her down, his eyes filled with an unprecedented seriousness: "Listen to me, get dressed."

Kong Wange bit her lip and draped her coat over both of their heads: "Is this okay?"

Murong Ting looked at her for a while, then said in a hoarse voice, "Hold on to me."

Kong Wange reached out and took his hand.

With their fingers intertwined, Murong Ting reached out and held the other side of his clothes, saying firmly, "Let's go!"

Kong Wange nodded slightly, and the two of them, hiding under their clothes, held each other's hands and rushed out.

The fire spread, smoke filled the air, and the thin air was filled with the pungent smell of smoke mixed with the smell of burnt medicinal herbs.

The way out was completely invisible; Kong Wange was simply running after Murong Ting.

Around them, charred fragments of roof beams, still sputtering and crackling, continued to fall.

Her strength was waning, and she felt like she couldn't run anymore, but the man beside her held her hand very firmly, which gave her a strong will and made her dare not give up.

With the exit just around the corner, Kong Wange felt a sense of relief and planned to rush out with the people around her. But at that moment, a loud "boom" was heard—

The side beams of the roof burned through and crashed straight down on them!

The incident happened so suddenly that the two of them had no time to dodge.

At this moment, Kong Wange's eyes saw flames, charred ash, a huge log falling from the sky, a man's suddenly constricted pupils, and his figure rushing towards her without hesitation in the blink of an eye.

It was only a moment, but it felt like an eternity to her.

She only regained some of her senses when she fell to the ground and heard a man's muffled groan above her.

She struggled to sit up and went to check on Murong Ting's condition.

He lay on the ground with his eyes closed. The piece of wood hit him and then slammed against the wall, pulling down a huge iron-framed painting that was hanging on the wall. The entire frame, which was more than a meter tall, landed on the man's leg.

Kong Wange used all her strength to move the picture frame away.

She saw blood gushing from his forehead.

She could barely hear her own heartbeat, and shook the man's body violently, her voice trembling: "Murong Ting, wake up, please wake up!"

Kong Wange's frightened tears fell onto the man's face, and as if by some unseen force, a powerful magic appeared, causing the man to open his eyes.

Murong Ting closed his eyes slightly, wanting to raise his hand to wipe away the tears from the corners of her eyes, but found that he could not do it. In the end, he could only force a smile: "Wanwan, don't be afraid, I'm fine. I haven't taken you out yet, how could something happen to me?"

Kong Wange's face turned pale. She knew that the man was just putting on a brave face, but she couldn't utter a single word of concern.

She instinctively reached out to take his pulse, but the man dodged her hand, staring at her with gentle eyes: "Wanwan, don't waste time. Listen to me, my legs can't move. You go first, don't worry about me."
