Chapter 546 Earthquake Dilemma
Yan Su was stunned for a moment, then looked at the village secretary: "Secretary, did you feel the ground tremble just now?"
As Party Secretary Li was getting into his story, he immediately waved his hand and said, "Hey, it's nothing. Our village is right on an earthquake zone, so it shakes all the time. When it comes to earthquakes, you don't need to run away during a small one, but you can't run away during a big one. Don't be afraid, just eat and drink as usual."
Seeing that Secretary Li was so calm, Yan Su felt a little relieved. But just as he took a bite of food, a tremor dozens of times stronger than before struck him again, and he stumbled and fell off his chair.
This startled even Party Secretary Li, and before he could react, an even greater shock followed.
Party Secretary Li immediately threw down his bowl and chopsticks and shouted, "It's over, this is a big earthquake, run!"
He said that and rushed out.
Yan Su clearly felt the earth shaking, and he could see with his own eyes that a roof beam above his head cracked open!
He stood up right after Secretary Li, but instead of running outside, he rushed into the room.
Quietly, she leaned against the doorframe, swaying precariously.
When she saw Yan Su running over, she shouted anxiously, "Are you crazy? Run out of here right now!"
No sooner had she finished speaking than a loud "crack" was heard, and a huge roof beam crashed down in front of her.
Yan Su knew the two of them couldn't escape, so he shouted, "Hide under the bed!"
"What?"
Anjing lost her balance and fell to the ground.
Then, with a loud crash, the wall cracked open!
Anjing was trembling with fear and instinctively covered her head with her arm.
Just then, she was suddenly pulled and rolled on the ground.
She opened her eyes amidst the crackling and trembling, only to find herself being pulled under the bed by Yan Su. The bed had mostly collapsed, leaving only a small space for the two of them to fit in.
He shielded her, his brow furrowed, as if he were enduring some pain.
Anjing quickly broke free from him: "Yan Su, how are you?"
Yan Su took a deep breath and shook his head: "I'm fine. I just got hit on the back by a falling rock, it's nothing serious. What about you, are you hurt?"
Quietly, she shook her head: "No."
If Yan Su hadn't protected her, she would have been the one hit by the falling rocks.
In the pitch black, she began searching for her phone.
Yan Su sighed and said, "I've checked the phone, there's no signal."
As he spoke, he handed her the quiet phone from the side.
I glanced at it quietly, and sure enough, the words "No Signal" on the homepage were glaringly red.
She frowned: "And what about yours?"
"I don't know where it fell."
He fell silent for a while, then tried to crawl forward: "I'll try to push these haphazard bricks aside."
Yan Su pulled her back: "Don't waste your energy. The most important thing now is to conserve your strength and wait for rescue."
What blocked their way was a pile of rubble, which was like a wall. They were lucky to be able to breathe, let alone push it aside.
Quietly, she tried it a couple more times, but found it didn't work, so she had to give up.
After a long pause, she murmured, "It seems this earthquake was quite severe."
Yan Su hummed in agreement: "I guess so."
The fact that even the signal is cut off proves that this must be a severely affected area.
"Will someone come to rescue us?" An Jing was unusually confused.
“Yes, he will.” Yan Su’s voice was as firm and strong as ever: “Secretary Li has definitely escaped. He will find someone to rescue us. Trust me.”
Both of them remained silent about another possibility—
If Secretary Li also meets with misfortune, no one will know where they are.
Such a large village as Qiantang is now full of ruins. Finding them will not be an easy task. I wonder if they can hold on until that moment.
But Yan Su's voice made An Jing feel inexplicably at ease. She subconsciously moved closer to him, but then smelled a pungent smell of blood.
Her heart skipped a beat, and she frowned: "Yan Su, is the injury on your back really not serious?"
Yan Su smiled and pulled her closer, asking, "Would you like to touch it?"
Before Anjing could nod, he shamelessly added, "After you're done touching me, you have to take responsibility, okay?"
Without saying a word, An Jing withdrew her hand: "Forget it, who cares to touch it?"
If he can still talk so jokingly, it's probably nothing serious.
She leaned closer to Yan Su: "I wonder if Yueyue and the others have finished work yet. The crew must be worried because they can't contact us."
Anjing continued speaking, but then realized something was amiss: "Yan Su, if the earthquake is so severe here, won't it shake over there too?"
Are the crew members still safe? Are they able to be taken care of?
"Don't worry, Yunhai Township is quite a distance from here, so the tremors will definitely not be as strong as they are here. You'll be fine."
"Sigh, my sisters will be so worried if they see the news."
Yan Su held An Jing's hand tightly: "Don't overthink it. Are you tired? Do you want to take a nap?"
Anjing was indeed a little tired after hearing that, but she still felt uneasy: "Did you bring our bags with you?"
"No, it was left in the yard at the time, and I didn't have time to take it."
"Ah, okay." Anjing was a little disappointed. If they had brought it up, there would have been two bottles of mineral water and some snacks and bread, which would have been enough to keep them going for a while.
"Are you hungry?" Yan Su asked.
Anjing shook her head: "No, it's just that we don't know how long we'll be stuck here, so having some food makes us less panicked."
“Maybe the rescue will arrive by the time you wake up, and we won’t need those,” Yan Su comforted her.
She nodded quietly, feeling strangely at the same time. It was as if as long as he was there, she felt less panicked and less afraid, and that even if she was trapped here, there was still hope and something to look forward to.
She tentatively curled up gently next to Yan Su: "Do you want to take a nap too?"
Yan Su smiled and patted her head: "You go to sleep first. I need to listen for any noise outside, just in case the rescue team arrives."
Anjing snuggled closer to him and said, "Okay, I'll go to sleep first, and I'll take over for you when I wake up."
Yan Su's face was pale, and he forcefully suppressed the cough that was about to come out.
After a long pause, he said, "Hmm."
Anjing didn't know how long she had slept; she was woken up by the cold.
When she opened her eyes, her first thought was to call out Yan Su.
There was no response from the person beside her, and she panicked. She quickly called out twice more, and after a long while, she heard a hoarse voice say, "I'm here."
Those two words instantly brought my calm heart back to its stomach.
"What's wrong with you? I told you not to say anything." Her tone unconsciously carried a hint of reproach.
Yan Su chuckled lightly: "What, are you afraid I'll die?"
"Pah, pah, pah! Can you please stop talking nonsense, you jinx!"
In the darkness, Yan Su could not see her, but he could feel her soft hand on his lips.
The two fell silent for a moment, and after a long silence, they quickly withdrew their hands as if they had been burned.
She coughed lightly and picked up her phone: "Your voice is so hoarse, has your injury worsened?"
She tried to turn on her phone's flashlight, but after pressing it for a while, she found that there was no response.
Yan Su sighed and took her hand: "It must be out of power. My injury isn't serious, don't worry."
