Chapter 548 Is His Leg Crippled?
Kyoto, Central Hospital.
"Yan Su!"
On the hospital bed, amidst the pungent smell of disinfectant in the hospital ward, An Jing suddenly opened her eyes.
When Kong Wange saw that Jingjing had woken up, she quickly came over and asked, "Jingjing is awake? How are you? Are you dizzy or nauseous?"
When An Jing saw Kong Wange, she was stunned for a moment. She rubbed her throbbing head and asked, "Where is this?"
"Central Hospital, you were just transferred back from Yunhai, and you've been unconscious for two days."
"I remember now, it was an earthquake." After a moment of calm, some memories gradually returned. She suddenly looked around, grabbed Kong Wange's hand, and asked, "Little Ge'er, where is Yan Su?"
Kong Wange's expression turned somewhat grim. She sighed and said, "Jingjing, prepare yourself mentally. Don't rush. I'll explain it to you slowly."
Looking quietly at Kong Wange's expression, Anxin felt a chill in her heart.
She gripped her hand, her eyes reddening, her voice trembling: "Could it be... Yan Su..."
Anjing stared intently at Kong Wange, but she just couldn't bring herself to say those two words.
Kong Wange paused, realizing what she was thinking, and immediately smiled: "What are you thinking? He's fine, it's just..."
At this point, her smile faded slightly, and her voice became somewhat muffled: "His left leg was pinned down by a rock for too long, and he lost feeling in it. He may never be able to walk like a normal person again."
"So that means...it will turn me into a disabled person?"
"It's hard to say. If you do proper rehabilitation training, you might be able to recover..." Kong Wange said carefully, trying to comfort her.
Unexpectedly, the quiet person on the bed breathed a sigh of relief after hearing this: "It turns out it was just a leg injury, thank goodness..."
After she finished speaking, she met Kong Wange's complicated gaze, curled her lips and explained, "Little Ge'er, I forgive him. It's just a leg, right? I'll take care of him from now on! As long as he's alright, I'm already very content."
Kong Wange gently patted her back: "Don't be too discouraged. Medical technology is so advanced now, maybe a miracle will happen?"
Anjing shook her head, her voice hoarse: "If you can't cure me, who else can I ask for help? Don't try to comfort me anymore, I'm really fine."
Then she looked up and asked, "Where is he? I want to go see him."
"Besides the necrosis of the muscles in his left leg, he also suffered a serious back injury. He had a high fever for several days and was just discharged from the ICU today. He's in the next ward and should be sleeping now. You're also feeling weak right now, so why don't you rest first and go when you're feeling better?"
Anjing shook her head: "No, I won't feel at ease if I can't see anyone."
Kong Wange sighed: "Okay, then I'll help you."
In the next ward, Murong Ting was tucking Yan Su into bed when he saw An Jing being helped in by Kong Wange. He raised an eyebrow and asked, "Awake?"
She nodded quietly, but her gaze remained fixed on the person on the bed.
Yan Su lay on the bed with his eyes tightly closed.
In just a few days, his cheeks became severely sunken, his cheekbones protruded, and he became so thin that he was just a skeleton.
She walked step by step to the bedside, touched his leg, then sat down, tears streaming down her face uncontrollably.
Murong Ting wanted to say something upon seeing this, but was stopped by a look from Kong Wange, so he could only silently walk to Kong Wange's side.
At first, her quiet crying was almost silent, but slowly, she gripped the hand of the person on the hospital bed and couldn't help but sob softly.
After a long while, a weak and helpless voice came from the hospital bed: "An'an, it hurts."
Anjing froze, then quickly asked him, "Does it hurt? Where does it hurt?"
"My hand hurts." Yan Su looked at his right hand, which was being tightly gripped by her.
Anjing then realized that she hadn't been careful with her strength and had squeezed too hard, waking the person on the bed.
She quickly let go of him, tears streaming down her face again. She couldn't help but hit him lightly, saying, "Yan Su, you scared me to death, you know that?!"
Yan Su smiled and reached out to gently wipe away her tears: "I'm sorry, it was my fault."
As soon as he admitted his mistake, Anjing cried even harder: "Are you stupid? You were so badly injured and you still lied to me and even gave me your blood to drink. Didn't you ever think about what would happen to me if something happened to you?"
Yan Su smiled and said, "It's good that nothing happened, but if something really did happen, and it makes you remember me for the rest of your life, then I won't have lost out."
"Hmph, who wants to remember you for a lifetime."
Yan Su forced a smile and said weakly, "What, you want to go back on your word? You didn't say that back in Qiantang Village."
Anjing blushed as she recalled her bold statement that she would get married as soon as she got out of the house.
Just as he was about to say something, Murong Ting's phone suddenly rang.
He glanced at the caller ID and said, "It's my second aunt."
He had only been gone for half an hour when his aunts called again, probably out of concern for Anjing's health. So he answered without hesitation and put the call on speakerphone.
An Zhi's voice immediately came from the other end: "Tingting, is Jingjing awake?"
Murong Ting glanced at An Jing and hummed in agreement: "You're awake, in good spirits, don't worry."
An Zhi breathed a sigh of relief, and then An Zhen's voice came from the other end: "Tingting, please tell Jingjing for me that Xiao Yan is a good person. If it weren't for Xiao Yan protecting her this time, she wouldn't have been able to come back. Tell her to stop being picky and treat Xiao Yan well, okay?"
“This is also what my eldest sister wanted,” An Zhi added.
"Jingjing, let's get her to give us a straight answer," her brothers-in-law chimed in.
Murong Ting smiled and looked at An Jing: "Did you hear that?"
Quietly, she walked over and said into the phone, "Are you my own sister and brother-in-law? You called not to show any concern for me, but to stand up for Yan Su!"
"Hey, how can you talk like that? Jingjing, I'm telling you..."
"Okay, okay, I'm dizzy, I'm hanging up." Anjing hung up the phone directly.
She handed the phone back to Murong Ting, and all three pairs of eyes in the room turned to look at her.
She felt extremely uncomfortable, but still forced a cough and said to Yan Su, "Given your current condition, we probably can't have a wedding, right? Shall we do some physical therapy and rehabilitation first?"
Yan Su nodded: "An'an is right."
Then he blinked and said, "So how about we get our marriage certificate first, and have the wedding later?"
Anjing paused for a moment, then suddenly walked closer to him and looked at him: "Why are you in such a hurry? Are you afraid I won't want you anymore?"
Yan Su exclaimed, "Ah! It wasn't like that before, but now that I'm disabled, who can say for sure?"
"Anyway, don't expect me to be some kind of noble person, like I'm going to rely on you for the rest of my life so as not to be a burden to you when you go far away alone."
Anjing shook her head: "Okay, since that's the case, I'll put your mind at ease. Wait here, I'm going home to get my household registration book right now!"
She made a move to leave, but Yan Su grabbed her arm: "No... there's no need to rush."
Yan Su coughed lightly, pulled her back, and his eyes became serious: "An'an, do you really want to marry me?"
