Chapter 602 The Death of Qianliu
Qianliu chuckled: "You went to great lengths to impersonate Miss Xu and enter the Tang family, so you must have something very important to plot, right? Otherwise, you wouldn't have taken such a big risk. If you don't agree, I'll tell the master about your affair. At worst, we'll both perish."
Wen Luoyun looked at him without saying a word.
After a long pause, she took her hand out of her bag under the table and curled her lips into a smile: "You do have my life in your hands, but there's one thing I don't understand."
"Please speak."
"Aren't you curious about who I am?" Wen Luoyun raised an eyebrow.
“Who you are is not important,” Qianliu said naturally. “There are rules in the underworld. I don’t care what your purpose was in killing Xu Ruoyun and impersonating her. As long as I get the antidote, your identity will always be Miss Xu.”
Wen Luoyun looked at him, and smiled after a moment.
She poured Qianliu a glass of wine, lightly flicked her fingernail against the glass, then raised her own glass to him: "In that case, the deal is done. Happy cooperation."
As if she had anticipated that Qianliu would agree, she relaxed and picked up her wine glass, saying, "It's a pleasure working with you."
The two drank it all together.
After putting the wine glass back on the table, Wen Luoyun chatted with him for a few more minutes.
He then stood up and glanced out the window: "It's getting late."
"I'll take Xu Xiao..." Qianliu said, standing up, but unexpectedly felt dizzy and then fell back into her seat.
Feeling utterly weak and powerless, unable to muster any strength within himself, he paused, then suddenly looked at Wen Luoyun: "Is the wine poisoned?!"
Wen Luoyun clapped her hands, smiling brightly: "The reputation of the second assassin is indeed well-deserved; you reacted so quickly."
Qianliu gritted her teeth and said, "When did you poison me? You also drank the wine, and you're perfectly fine..."
"Of course I wouldn't be foolish enough to put it in my own cup. I only put a little bit of cartilage powder on the rim of the wine pot."
Wen Luoyun smiled and said, "But this is no ordinary muscle-relaxing powder. After all, to deal with you, I have to use one that I personally concocted to match your status."
Qianliu took a deep breath and said in a deep voice, "What do you want to do? Are you worried that I'll reveal your identity? I won't."
Wen Luoyun walked up to him, held up one finger and waved it: "Not just that."
She looked down at him: "Qianliu, aren't you curious about who I am?"
Qian Liu frowned. The next moment, Wen Luoyun approached him and whispered, "Then do you still remember the Wen family, do you remember Wen Zhengning?"
Qianliu's pupils suddenly contracted: "You, you are..."
Wen Luoyun curled her lips: "I really like your reaction. You are too, and so is Xu Ruoyun. Don't you know why I came to the Tang family? Now I can tell you, you are one of my targets in coming to the Tang family."
As she spoke, she pulled a dagger from her bag: "Back then, I stabbed Xu Ruoyun directly into the heart. She died quite quickly. Tell me, should I give you a quick death too?"
The color drained from Qianliu's face, replaced by a pale blue: "From the moment I started as an assassin, I knew this day would come sooner or later, but I never imagined that I would end up at the hands of a little girl like you."
Wen Luoyun sneered: "Of course you can't imagine how deep a person's hatred can go, but in the end you still underestimate me. Underestimating a woman will only lead to trouble! I'm not happy."
As she spoke, she slowly inserted the knife little by little into Qianliu's chest.
Qianliu groaned and said in terror, "Just give me a quick death."
"That won't do. Wouldn't that be too easy on you?" Wen Luoyun's eyes reddened as she said, enunciating each word clearly, "You killed my uncle with your own hands."
As she spoke, she twisted the knife against his chest: "How did you kill him? Like this? Like this? Or like this?!"
She inserted the knife inch by inch, then suddenly pulled it out and plunged it in again.
Blood splattered everywhere, but she was excited: "Does it hurt? Can someone like you even feel pain? Do you feel as much pain as I do? You traitor! My uncle trusted you so much, and you killed him!"
Wen Luoyun slashed repeatedly, his expression crazed, blood gushing out.
Qianliu was like a fish on a chopping board; after the final cut, it twitched twice before finally coming to a stop.
Wen Luoyun stared at him for a while, then snorted coldly, drew her knife, and threw it aside.
He wiped his hands with a tissue while looking at him coldly.
Even when Qianliu began to suspect her identity, she was already prepared to end his life. The only thing she didn't expect was that it would happen so soon.
But it's good, this kind of place is deserted and uninhabited, perfect for murder and dumping bodies.
Logically speaking, since everyone else should be at the shadow gate at this moment, she should also be able to take off her clothes and wash herself clean.
She washed her hands with the wine, and then, with great effort, dragged Qianliu's body to a well in the backyard, before cleaning up the scene.
Having learned from her first experience, she handled the situation with ease this time.
After everything was tidied up, she took a satisfied look at the tavern.
Anyway, it's a private property that doesn't accept customers, so no one will discover it anytime soon.
Since Qianliu wants to spend the rest of his life here, she's already fulfilling his wish. She repays evil with kindness; she's truly kind.
...
On the way back, Zhou Qiao and Qin Feng remained silent the entire way.
Qin Feng drove with a sullen face, while Zhou Qiao sat in the passenger seat, looking out the window and pursing her lips without saying a word.
The stagnant atmosphere persisted until they returned to the shadow gate.
After getting off the bus, Zhou Qiao walked ahead, head down, not even looking at the road.
Hou Kai and his three friends had just finished their evening classes and greeted Zhou Qiao happily.
"Sister-in-law is back! I heard you went to see the lantern festival with the eldest brother. How was it? Was it beautiful?!" Hou Kai asked excitedly.
Zhou Qiao looked up at him irritably and said, "I told you not to call me sister-in-law!"
After saying that, he turned and left without looking back, leaving the four boys staring at each other in bewilderment.
Seeing that something was wrong, and with Qin Feng coming in, Hou Kai quickly went over and asked, "Boss, what's wrong with your wife?"
Qin Feng glanced at him, paused, and said in a deep voice, "You four, come with me to the study."
Hou Kai: "?"
Qin Feng left after making his statement, leaving Hou Kai bewildered: "What's going on? I don't think I've done anything wrong recently, have I?"
Ayan blinked her big eyes: "You skipped two laps of morning exercises yesterday, sneaked out for barbecue at noon today, fell asleep in class this afternoon, and failed your recent exam..."
Hou Kai: "???"
Han Xu glanced at him indifferently and went to the study first.
Old Qi hurriedly followed, and when he missed Hou Kai, he patted him on the shoulder: "Brother Kai, you should reflect on your own actions. Be sincere in admitting your mistakes later, and don't drag us into this!"
After saying that, he ran away in a flash.
Ayan looked at Hou Kai, gave him a "good luck" gesture, and then followed Lao Qi.
Hou Kai: "!!!"
He quickly scurried after them, saying, "Brothers, if the boss targets me, you can't just stand by and watch me die. Don't forget I brought you some kebabs..."
