Chapter 673 Poisoning
Murong Ting's face darkened: "Yes, if I'm not mistaken, the other party obtained this jade pendant seven years ago."
Kong Wange pondered from the side, "Each of the four major families has one of these jade pendants, plus our Wen family's Blood Phoenix Jade Pendant, making a total of five. It seems that Tang Zhi has already obtained the pendants from the An family, the Su family, the Wen family, and his own family. If his goal is truly to collect all five jades, wouldn't he only have the Qin family's pendant left to obtain?"
As soon as Kong Wange finished speaking, Qin Feng's face suddenly darkened, and he turned and strode out.
Murong Ting and Kong Wange paused, glanced at each other, and then followed him out.
Seeing Qin Feng heading towards Zhou Qiao's room, Kong Wange felt a growing unease: "Master Qin, could the Qin family's jade pendant be in your hands?"
"The jade pendant was given to me by that person when I was a child. Later, I gave it to Qiaoqiao as a gift," Qin Feng said quickly as he walked.
Kong Wange: "?!"
If we give it to Zhou Qiao, wouldn't she be the most dangerous person right now?
She slowly exhaled and said, "Master Qin's Shadow Gate is heavily guarded. Even if Tang Zhi is willing, he may not be able to succeed."
Qin Feng's eyes were dark: "Not long ago, Qian Liu infiltrated my Shadow Sect under the guise of a martial arts master. At the time, I did not know Tang Zhi's true purpose, so I only had my men keep an eye on him. Now that I think about it, his purpose in coming to my Shadow Sect was to obtain the jade pendant."
He said coldly, "Unfortunately, I am not Wen Zhengning, and I will not let him succeed so easily."
As she recounted the first half of the story, Kong Wange's heart sank, but upon hearing that the attempt had failed, she finally felt relieved.
"So Qianliu is still in the Shadow Gate?" Murong Ting asked.
Qin Feng shook his head: "He's dead."
"Dead?" Murong Ting frowned. "How did he die?"
"When my men received the message, he had already been in the dry well for two days. Even Tang Zhi himself probably doesn't know exactly how he died."
The group talked as they arrived at Zhou Qiao's room.
Qin Feng knocked on the door, but after a long while, there was no response from Zhou Qiao.
The group exchanged glances, their hearts tightening, especially Qin Feng, whose face was so dark it was almost black.
"Hey, you guys finished talking?"
Just then, a clear, crisp sound came from behind them.
The group turned to look, and who else could it be but Zhou Qiao?
In an instant, everyone breathed a sigh of relief.
Qin Feng walked up to her in a few steps: "Where did you run off to?"
“While you were talking, Sister Ruoyun came to see me. We chatted for a while, and I just saw her off,” Zhou Qiao said naturally.
"Ruoyun?" Kong Wange was slightly taken aback. "Why would she suddenly decide to come see you?"
"Hey, it's because Qin Feng and I came back early halfway through our trip, and she thought we had a fight, so she came here specifically to try and comfort us," Zhou Qiao said, blinking. "Sister Kong, what's wrong with you two? Why are you both so serious?"
Kong Wange glanced at Qin Feng beside her. The latter exhaled, stepped forward, and pulled her along, saying, "Do you still have the jade pendant I gave you?"
Zhou Qiao was puzzled: "It's hanging around my neck, why are you suddenly asking this?"
As she spoke, she naturally pulled the jade pendant out of her clothes.
Upon seeing the jade pendant, the group finally felt relieved.
Qin Feng reached out and put the jade pendant back around her neck, then said to her, "Don't wear this on your person anymore. Find a safe place to put it away when you get back to your room."
After saying that, he felt uneasy again: "Never mind, you take it off, I'll keep it for you."
Zhou Qiao panicked upon hearing this: "What? Are you going back on your word? You want to take back what you gave away?"
Qin Feng said helplessly, "That's not what I meant..."
"Then what do you mean?" Zhou Qiao glared.
Seeing this, Kong Wange stepped forward and said with a smile, "Qiaoqiao, Master Qin really didn't mean that, this jade pendant..."
A hint of worry appeared in her eyes: "It's quite valuable and might be coveted by someone with ulterior motives. It's not safe for you to carry it with you right now."
Zhou Qiao understood: "So that's the principle of not flaunting wealth. Why can't you just say it directly like Sister Kong?"
She complained to Qin Feng as she took off the jade pendant: "Then you can just keep it for me for now, and I can take a look at it whenever I want."
Qin Feng took the jade pendant and relaxed: "Don't worry, it's yours now that it's given to you. Once this is over, you can wear it however you want."
"What do you mean? You think I'm just after your jade pendant? I clearly... never mind, I can't be bothered to talk to you." Zhou Qiao pouted.
Kong Wange smiled and continued, "You cherish Master Qin's friendship, okay?"
Zhou Qiao grabbed Kong Wange's arm: "Hmph, who would cherish it? Dream on!"
Kong Wange smiled and patted her head, then turned to Qin Feng, her expression turning serious: "Master Qin, if our previous speculations are correct, this jade pendant is Tang Zhi's primary target right now. You must send more people to keep the jade pendant safe."
Qin Feng, who was still exasperated by Zhou Qiao's temper, also composed himself upon hearing Kong Wange's words: "Yes, I understand."
Murong Ting breathed a sigh of relief and said, "Now that we know who has been stirring up trouble behind the scenes, I will send people to investigate and find out Tang Zhi's purpose in collecting these jade pendants, as well as to gather evidence. We will not let this murderer get away with it!"
Qin Feng nodded, then, as if remembering something, said, "Since Young Master Ting has a good relationship with the second young master of the Tang family, why not consider starting with him..."
"Tang Minghao is simple-minded. He probably knows less about what his brother has done than I do. Besides, I don't want to..."
He didn't want to take advantage of their brotherly bond, but before he could finish speaking, Murong Ting suddenly felt a sharp pain in his temple, followed by a muffled groan, and collapsed straight to the ground.
"Ah Ting!" Kong Wange, who was beside him, was suddenly startled and quickly helped him into her arms.
Due to inertia, the two almost fell together, but Qin Feng, who was nearby, reacted quickly and reached out to support them.
Although Kong Wange didn't fall, her complexion didn't look good.
She squatted down and looked at Murong Ting, who was lying limp on the ground with his eyes closed. His face was pale. Without saying a word, she went straight to check his pulse.
The pulse is weak and thready.
She gritted her teeth and went forward to pry open his eyelids. She saw that his eyes were faintly gray and his lips were purple. Her heart suddenly turned cold.
The change happened so fast that Zhou Qiao didn't react for a moment. She stared blankly at Kong Wange and asked, "Sister Kong, what... what happened to brother-in-law?"
Kong Wange took a deep breath and straightened up, but felt a sudden darkness before her eyes and almost fell over again.
Fortunately, Zhou Qiao was right beside her and quickly helped her up: "Sister Kong, you..."
Kong Wange was pale, but she gritted her teeth and stood firm. She looked at Qin Feng and said, "Master Qin, please find someone to help me put him on a bed where he can lie down and rest. I need to give him acupuncture immediately."
Qin Feng knew that Murong Ting's situation was definitely unusual, so he didn't ask any more questions and made arrangements for people as Kong Wange had instructed.
