Chapter 778 Haoyue Extra (40)

Chapter 778 Haoyue Extra (40)

Tang Minghao knew absolutely nothing about the trending topic.

All he knew that night was that he was depressed, extremely depressed.

After leaving the variety show, although he and Wen Yue were both in Kyoto and even worked in the same company, they inexplicably fell into a long-distance relationship.

When he wanted to see her, she was either filming commercials or doing interviews. And when she finally had some free time, he had endless gigs and work to do. Finding a time when both of them were free to meet was harder than climbing to heaven.

Because of this, he mentioned to Wen Yue again that she could come and stay at his house.

Thinking that even though the two of them are still busy, they can always find a moment of tenderness in their spare time.

But Wen Yue refused again.

This was the second time she had rejected him.

He knew she was afraid of being discovered by the media, which he could understand rationally, but he felt inexplicably anxious emotionally.

He wasn't sure if she was genuinely afraid of being discovered, or if it was just an excuse to avoid trouble.

If it's the latter, what kind of trouble does she need to avoid? Is it the trouble after the official announcement, or... the trouble after the breakup?

Tang Minghao couldn't help but scratch his head, thinking again about the question he had been pondering these past few days—did Wen Yue... like him?

Thinking back to the day he confessed his feelings and she accepted, everything seemed to have fallen into place naturally. But he never seemed to have asked her what she thought of him, nor had he ever received a definite answer.

He knew she had a gentle personality and wasn't very good at saying no.

Was her acceptance of his confession merely out of fear of offending her, or perhaps it was a momentary impulse while drunk?

She said she had thought it through. What had she thought about?

He was annoyed that he hadn't asked more questions back then, and instead, like a fool, he had blindly accepted the "mutual liking" setting, which had led him into a state of repeated hesitation.

He knew that Wen Yue had been busy with the opening ceremony of a new drama these past few days. After the ceremony, she would be joining the production team to start filming again in just a couple of days. He didn't know how long it would be before they could see each other again.

After thinking it over, he decided to take advantage of his birthday to pick her up, have a meal together, and clarify any uncertainties he had.

He had arranged today's work three days in advance, but unexpectedly, at the last minute, the brand said that there was an exposure problem with the photos taken earlier and that they needed to be retaken.

Due to scheduling conflicts, he had no choice but to work on the promotional materials today.

But that wasn't what frustrated him the most. After all, he knew that's how work is; all sorts of unexpected things can happen at any time, and plans can never keep up with changes.

What frustrated him even more was Wen Yue's attitude.

Although he didn't tell Wen Yue the time of his birthday, as a celebrity with a decent following, his birthday is not only easy to find with a simple search, but more importantly, his fans sent their blessings right at midnight, which propelled him to the top of the trending searches twice.

It was so obvious; he didn't believe she didn't know.

However, from midnight last night until almost the end of the workday today, he waited anxiously with his phone in hand, but he didn't receive a single blessing from her.

His mood was like bungee jumping, jumping off at midnight and then sliding down the current.

But this still wasn't the most upsetting thing for him. After all, he could comfort himself that she was just too busy to notice since she hadn't sent him a blessing.

What truly brought his frustration to its peak was the text message he exchanged with Wen Yue that night.

Even though she didn't say "Happy Birthday" to him, which he had been thinking about for a long time, he was still happy to see her message to show her concern. However, when he invited her to come and shoot a cover, she refused.

At that moment, he couldn't quite articulate his feelings.

Her reason was the same as always: she was afraid that if there were too many people around, it would have a bad influence.

This undoubtedly confirmed some of his suspicions.

In order to see her today, he contacted her assistant in advance to find out her schedule, knowing that she had already finished her work for the day.

In other words, she has plenty of time to come see him.

But she still refused.

What does this tell us?

He didn't want to think about it, but a dark cloud hung over his head and wouldn't dissipate.

"Bro, what's wrong with you? It's your birthday, and I arranged a party for you, but when you got here you just huddled in a corner, drinking alone without saying a word?"

They've drunk quite a bit; in just a few hours, there are already seven or eight bottles of liquor on the coffee table, and another half-empty bottle of red liquor next to them.

Hai put his arm around his shoulder, clinked his wine bottle against his, raised an eyebrow at him, and whispered in his ear, "Since we're in a good mood today, I specially brought my sister along. The little girl talks about you every day at home. Knowing it's your birthday, she started preparing a gift for you a month in advance. Go over and see her?"

Tang Minghao shoved him away in annoyance: "Go cool off somewhere else. I've told you a million times that I'm not interested in your sister. What do you mean by bringing her here? Are you just trying to annoy me?"

"What you're saying is like, feelings need to be cultivated, right? Whether you're interested or not, you have to meet her first! My sister, to be fair, is pretty, isn't she? Isn't she your type?"

Tang Minghao glanced in the direction Xu Hai was pointing and looked at the girl sitting and singing in front of him.

She had dyed her hair a vibrant red and tied it up high. She had fair skin, large eyes, and a graceful figure—definitely the type he used to like.

but……

His mind was now filled with the image of Wen Yue smiling gently and obediently at him, and looking at the person in front of him now felt inexplicably jarring.

Why dye your hair so red? Isn't black better? It looks healthy and shiny.

Why wear such extravagant earrings? Wouldn't two studs be enough? Ideally, they should be simple with small diamonds, delicate yet not ostentatious.

The clothes don't need to be so tight, right? A simple cotton or linen dress would be fine, wouldn't it? Off-white would be even better; that's the color Wen Yue wears most often…

After drinking too much, Xu Zheng's face in front of him was automatically replaced by Wen Yue's face in his mind.

He imagined her smiling gently at him, calling him Brother Minghao.

Xu Hai, noticing his slightly dazed look, smiled mischievously: "So, what do you think? My sister is actually quite nice, isn't she? We've known each other for twenty years, how could I not know your taste?"

Tang Minghao suddenly looked away: "What do I taste like?"

Xu Hai was taken aback, then chuckled and said, "What, are you testing me? You, you like passionate, direct, and individualistic people, like my sister, right?"

Tang Minghao slowly exhaled and said, "Yes, I should have liked that kind of person, but how did things change? Hai'er, do you think people become unlike themselves once they fall in love with someone?"
