Chapter 842 Ranbao extra (15)
As the party was about to begin, Zhong Lin tentatively asked, "Senior, about the report you mentioned you were supposed to write..."
“It’s already underway,” Wen Sichen used this as an excuse to meet Zhong Lin. It wouldn’t be right to not talk about work at all, so he naturally revealed some of the progress of their investment evaluation to Zhong Lin: “The company’s evaluation team is very optimistic about our future development prospects.”
"That's good," Zhong Lin breathed a sigh of relief and smiled, "If we can successfully secure this investment, I'll definitely treat you to a big meal, senior."
Just as he finished speaking, the phone rang.
He pointed to his phone, feeling embarrassed, while Wen Sichen made a "do as you please" gesture.
Zhong Lin then answered the phone.
A moment later, he frowned, hummed twice, and then said, "Don't rush, wait for me there, I'll go back now."
He hung up the phone and apologized to Wen Sichen's surprised look, "I'm sorry, senior, there's been a temporary problem with the experimental materials at my company, I have to go back and deal with it."
Wen Sichen frowned as he listened to the host's announcement: "Kong Ran's show is about to begin."
Zhong Lin had been told by his sister that Kong Ran was interested in him.
He was initially skeptical, but after Kong Ran dined with them and invited him to the party, coupled with Wen Sichen's repeated encouragement, he began to have some doubts.
Hearing Wen Sichen say this, he became even more uncertain, so he gritted his teeth and said frankly, "Senior, I've told you before, Kong Ran is a great girl, but the kind of girl I like isn't her type. We're not a good match. If she has any thoughts, please tell her that she deserves someone better. Right now, I'm focused on my work at the company, and I don't know anything about romance. In short, I'm not suited for dating."
"My company's experiment is indeed a bit troublesome. If something goes wrong, all the hard work the team has put in for the past month will be wasted. I really have to leave now. Could you please apologize to Kong Ran for me?"
After saying that, he didn't even look at Wen Sichen again, bowed, and hurriedly turned and left.
Wen Sichen never expected Zhong Lin to say that.
After he finished speaking, he first found it funny and unconsciously curled his lips, but then he thought of Kong Ran making a bitter face, and felt inexplicably annoyed.
The host finished his introduction, and the prelude to the dance began.
A moment later, Kong Ran appeared from the side of the stage.
Her entrance was spectacular; she performed three consecutive side somersaults in mid-air, then did a split in mid-air before landing gracefully.
This brilliant appearance was met with thunderous applause from the surrounding crowd.
However, only Wen Sichen noticed that the first thing she looked at after landing was in his direction.
Upon seeing the empty seat next to him, she was clearly taken aback, and almost failed to follow through with her next action.
Fortunately, it only lasted for a moment, and she quickly recovered and continued to finish the dance.
Wen Sichen had never seen Kong Ran dance.
I've never seen her wear such a gorgeous dress and have such exquisite makeup before.
He knew that none of this was prepared for her.
The young girl's feelings for love were obvious, even to the oblivious Zhong Lin, a science and engineering student.
He watched her finish the dance with no energy or spirit whatsoever, and felt a mix of emotions.
...
After the graduation party ended, Kong Ran sent Wen Sichen a message saying that she was having dinner with friends and asked him to go home first. Then she took Chu Simiao and a few other friends who had performed to a night market outside the school.
After sitting down, Kong Ran ordered a dozen beers before even ordering food.
He then ignored the jeers around him, broke the beer bottle open with chopsticks, and gulped it down his throat.
"Ranran, drink slowly!" Chu Simiao quickly pulled her, but she waved her away.
Her eyes reddened, her body swayed, and she looked at Chu Simiao with a wronged expression: "Miao, tell me what's wrong with me."
Chu Simiao quickly put the wine in her hand back on the table, hugged her and said, "You're perfect in every way. You're beautiful and kind-hearted, you can sing and dance, and there's a long line of boys chasing after you at school. How could you not be good in any way!"
"Yeah, I'm so good, why does Zhong Lin still hate me? Is he blind?" Kong Ran's tears fell down her cheeks.
Chu Simiao, who was standing next to her, couldn't bear to see her like this, so she quickly comforted her, "Don't be sad. You haven't asked him yourself, so how can you be sure he hates you?"
"I can feel it! Miaomiao, I'm not stupid, I can feel it!" Kong Ran turned her head and downed the rest of the wine, crying as she said, "He didn't like me from the first time we met, and this time it's even worse. My show was about to start, but he left without saying a word. You can't just say he hates me, he avoids me like the plague!"
This time, Chu Simiao didn't know how to comfort her.
After all, she was telling the truth.
But Chu Simiao couldn't understand it either. Her Ranran was so outstanding, so what was wrong with Zhong Lin?
Could he really be blind?!
Thinking about it, she felt a tightness in her chest, so she simply opened a bottle of beer next to her and slammed it on the table: "Fine, you just want to drink, right? I'll drink with you!"
After saying that, he tilted his head back and downed the wine in one gulp.
Seeing that she had drunk it, Kong Ran chuckled foolishly. She was oblivious to the tear stains still on her eyes and instead put her arm around Chu Simiao's shoulder: "Good sister, forever! Miao, I have you, that's enough for me, I don't need any stinky men."
“That’s right, all men are shit, they should all be kicked out!” Chu Simiao immediately chimed in.
Kong Ran wholeheartedly agreed, nodded, opened another bottle of wine, and clinked glasses with Chu Simiao: "My dear sister, tonight... let's drink until we drop!"
"We won't leave until we're drunk!"
...
After returning home, Wen Sichen worked for a while, but he was distracted and his efficiency was extremely low. Finally, after reading a contract three or four times and still not being able to understand the terms, he threw the document on the table and went to the bathroom to take a shower.
When he came out of the bathroom, he glanced at the time; it was 12:30.
Kong Ran still hasn't returned.
He gripped his phone, finally frowning as he dialed her number.
Not long after, her phone was answered.
But it wasn't her voice on the other end of the phone.
"Hello." It was a girl's voice on the other end.
Wen Sichen frowned even more deeply: "Where is Kong Ran?"
"Excuse me, who are you...?"
“I am her…uncle.”
The girl opposite visibly relaxed upon hearing this: "Hello, Uncle, I'm Kong Ran's classmate. She's had too much to drink at the school's food stall. Would it be convenient for you to come and pick her up?"
Wen Sichen's grip on his phone tightened suddenly: "Send me the address."
