Chapter 147 Planning to Move

Kangxi happened to run into Su Peisheng, who was rushing to the Imperial Hospital. Su Peisheng greeted Kangxi anxiously.

"What happened?"

"Your Majesty, the Fourth Prince has fainted. This servant will go and fetch the imperial physician." Su Peisheng spoke quickly, wanting to finish speaking as soon as possible and then hurry to the Imperial Hospital.

Upon hearing this, Emperor Kangxi immediately instructed Liang Jiugong: "Send a nimble servant to the Imperial Hospital immediately."

“Zha”

Su Peisheng breathed a sigh of relief upon hearing this. The imperial physician that His Majesty sent to invite was different from the one he had invited; His Majesty's physician was of higher quality.

Since Kangxi's men had gone to summon the imperial physician, Su Peisheng didn't need to go. As Kangxi walked inside, he asked Su Peisheng, "Why did you suddenly faint? How did you serve your master?"

Su Peisheng also felt wronged. He was heartbroken that his mistress had fainted. He didn't want her to, but his mistress insisted on going to Jingren Palace to suffer. He, a servant, couldn't stop her!

Thinking of what Consort Tong had done, Su Peisheng said frankly, "This servant guesses that Your Majesty has collapsed from exhaustion. These past few days, Your Majesty has gone to Jingren Palace to attend to your illness after school. By the time you return, it is already late. After completing the lessons assigned by the teacher, it is almost noon. You have to get up to go to school after only two hours of sleep. After several days in a row, your body naturally cannot take it. This servant has tried to persuade you several times, but Your Majesty insists on going to Jingren Palace."

Kangxi understood now, and then began to wonder. Although he had demoted Consort Tong's rank, the number of people around her had not decreased because of her confinement, nor had he ordered the Imperial Household Department to take back any extra servants.

Jingren Palace is not short of servants, so there is no need for Yinzhen to go there to attend to his illness every day.

Upon entering, Kangxi saw a group of people gathered in the middle. When someone saw Kangxi arrive, they all bowed in greeting. Kangxi then saw the unconscious Yinzhen.

Before Kangxi arrived, he had someone take Yinzhen to a room with a bed.

The imperial physician arrived quickly and examined Yinzhen's pulse. As Su Peisheng had said, he was indeed exhausted.

Kangxi wanted to say a few words, but Yinzhen was in a coma, so it would be useless to say anything. He then instructed Su Peisheng to take good care of Yinzhen and gave Yinzhen two days off to recuperate. He also specifically instructed that Yinzhen did not need to go to Jingren Palace to attend to him every day.

Yinzhen showed no signs of waking up, and Kangxi had other matters to attend to, so he instructed Su Peisheng to take good care of him before leaving.

After leaving the Imperial Study, Kangxi said, "Liang Jiugong, go to Jingren Palace and ask about the situation on Yinzhen's side."

Serving someone in the palace when they are ill is mostly just a formality. The master doesn't actually serve them. It's just about watching the maids and nannies do their work and saying a few comforting words. It's not tiring at all.

Yinzhen could faint from exhaustion; that was his son, so he had to ask him about it.

“Zha”

Jingren Palace is now like a sieve; you don't need to put in any effort to find out anything. Just ask around and you'll know. Liang Jiugong told Kangxi what he had found out, which infuriated Kangxi.

"She's really getting more and more capable, taking her anger out on my son. Who does she think she is? Since that's the case, then let Jingren Palace remain sealed off! Since so many people can't serve one master properly, and even make Yinzhen feed him medicine himself, then send him back to the Imperial Household Department to learn some manners."

“Zha”

On the other side, Yinzhen didn't wake up until late at night. When he woke up, Su Peisheng hurriedly stepped forward and said, "Your Majesty, you're awake. This servant has asked the kitchen to prepare some food. Please have some!"

Yinzhen was indeed hungry, and nodded upon hearing this.

Su Peisheng went out and gave the order, and the food was served. After eating, Yinzhen finally had the energy to think about the day's events.

"Tell me what happened after I passed out."

"After the master fainted, His Majesty came to the study. His Majesty asked me about the master's situation, so I told His Majesty about the master's itinerary over the past few days. The imperial physician came and diagnosed that the master had collapsed from exhaustion. After the imperial physician left, His Majesty left a while later. Just now I heard that His Majesty ordered the gates of Jingren Palace to be closed."

Yinzhen's face remained expressionless upon hearing this.

Yinzhen was sincere in serving Consort Tong these past few days. Even though Consort Tong had treated him ordinaryly over the years, she had given him everything he needed. Because of this foster mother, his life in the palace was much easier.

However, he has been targeted and insulted every day for the past few days. He doesn't show it on his face, but he is not without resentment in his heart.

He's not a bodhisattva; he can't smile when others scold or beat him.

Upon hearing that Jingren Palace had been placed under house arrest, Yinzhen felt a sense of relief.

From now on, I won't need to go to Jingren Palace to attend to the sick anymore.

In the palace, it is common for mothers and sons to use each other and fathers and sons to turn against each other. What's more, the two are not related by blood. In addition, Consort Tong does not care much about Yinzhen. How much genuine affection can Yinzhen have for Consort Tong?

Taking care of someone in illness is, frankly speaking, just a show, only it's done very convincingly.

"Send more people to keep an eye on things at Jingren Palace, and help if you can."

Yinzhen did not turn a blind eye to Consort Tong's kindness in raising him; he would definitely help with small matters if he could.

Yinzhen's actions could be considered understandable, but Consort Tong did not appreciate it. After being confined to her quarters again, she lost more than half of the people around her, which caused her standard of living to decline once more.

Then came the endless tantrums, making all the servants in Jingren Palace wish they could be kicked out rather than suffer there.

Yinzhen did offer a lot of help, but after the old woman said a few kind words, Tong Ying threw a cup at her, almost disfiguring her. The old woman was a little resentful and was not as attentive as usual.

By mid-May, Emperor Kangxi decided to "move".

Once the garden was completed, Emperor Kangxi couldn't wait to move in.
