Chapter 18 Accompanying the Emperor at the Qianqing Palace

Kangxi was carrying a purse, and Youqing happened to be sitting under him. She couldn't help but squirm, and Kangxi's eyes lit up. In broad daylight, he said, "Don't move around."

Youqing dared not move, but feeling uncomfortable, she could only ask in a wronged tone, "Is there something there?"

Upon hearing this, Kangxi took off the purse, while Youqing remained in his arms.

The Manchus are a nomadic people who value martial prowess, and Emperor Kangxi was no exception. He didn't seem to mind having someone sitting on his lap and began to review memorials.

In fact, considering all this, he was quite a self-disciplined emperor. Even with beautiful women around, he could remain calm and focused on his duties without getting distracted.

Youqing was exhausted last night and originally planned to take a nap this morning, but Kangxi summoned her to accompany him and she spent so much time grinding ink. Now, sitting in Kangxi's lap, her eyelids couldn't help but droop, and in no time, both her eyelids were completely closed.

After reading a memorial, Emperor Kangxi remembered that there was someone in his arms. Just as he was about to speak, he heard a soft snore coming from inside his arms.

She actually fell asleep, even in his arms. Kangxi couldn't help but smile; she was just like a child.

Seeing this, Kangxi did not disturb her nap and continued reading the memorials. The ice basin emitted a cool breeze, the incense burner emitted wisps of white smoke, and the soft snoring and the slight rubbing of ink on paper made the room even more tranquil.

After reading the memorial and putting down his pen, Kangxi looked at the person in his arms. He hadn't felt this relaxed in a long time. This silly girl was sleeping soundly, which made him feel at ease. It's just that she has many secrets and is not very obedient.

Kangxi planned to carry her to bed, but when he got up, he realized that his legs had gone numb from Youqing sitting on them. He suddenly lost his strength and almost dropped Youqing. Fortunately, Kangxi's arm strength was not bad, so he didn't actually drop her to the ground, but Youqing woke up.

Then she saw Kangxi standing there, holding her in his arms, his face somewhat... how to say it, somewhat distorted. But for that instant, Youqing thought she might have been mistaken.

She shook her head, becoming much more awake, and then realized her situation. She seemed to have accidentally fallen asleep in Kangxi's arms, and had been sleeping quite soundly, apparently for quite some time.
