Chapter 53 Give Me a Son

Even into the evening, Youqing stayed with Kangxi. After dinner, Kangxi didn't let her go back and kept her in Hanyuan Palace.

The night was deep, the candlelight in the room flickered, and the dragon bed rose and fell. Youqing felt that Kangxi had unusual energy tonight, as if he had no end in sight.

Youqing pleaded, "Your Majesty, I can't take it anymore, please spare me!"

Her delicate, pleading voice, especially since it was in bed, naturally had the opposite effect; the more she begged, the faster and more Kangxi wanted it.

After an unknown amount of time, Youqing was so tired that she could barely keep her eyes open. Kangxi once again gave her instructions, then released his pent-up energy and kissed her, whispering affectionately in her ear, "Qingqing, give me a son."

When he mentioned having a child, Youqing became more alert. She then squinted, pretending to be exhausted and not having heard clearly, before closing her eyes completely.

Kangxi only withdrew from her body after she closed her eyes, turned over and lay down next to her, holding her in his arms. He calmed down for a while before calling for water.

Liang Jiugong, who was outside, heard the commotion inside subside and calculated the time. He thought to himself, "His Majesty is really going to cause trouble tonight."

Although Emperor Kangxi's desires in this area were strong on ordinary days, they weren't this strong. It was just that he thought of how Youqing had talked eloquently about Taiwan that afternoon, and how she seemed to be radiating light and was very dazzling. That's why he couldn't control himself that night.

A man with experience can be incredibly sexy when he's working hard and talking eloquently, even if he's not particularly handsome.

Similarly, the same applies to women.

In an ancient society, in an ignorant era that demanded women to be devoted to their husbands and raise children, and to be completely obedient to their husbands, it was quite incredible that Youqing could express insightful opinions within the realm of men. In Kangxi's eyes, her charm was unmatched on that day.

That's why Kangxi had an uncontrollable desire that night; such a charming woman was his, and could only be his.

Pride, honor, and rarity...

Youqing had no idea that her usual answer would have such a shock to Kangxi. She only felt very tired, and she didn't take the question about "having children" to heart.

It's not that I don't like children, it's just that I can't convince myself right now.

It was perfectly normal for Youqing to be unable to get up the next day.

Emperor Kangxi couldn't possibly have a free and easy time every day. He would get up while Youqing was still asleep. In fact, the job of the emperor looks glamorous, and it is indeed glamorous, but behind this glamour lies hard work.

Compared to the workload of an emperor, the 996 work schedule seems insignificant.

During major court assemblies, he would get up earlier than the rooster and spend the whole day arguing with different people. If he couldn't reach a conclusion, he would continue arguing into the night.

Youqing only realized after time travel that the thrilling palace intrigues in TV dramas were just a tiny part of the emperor's life, and he didn't have that much time to waste in the harem.

Youqing would sometimes use flattering phrases like "managing countless affairs daily" to describe Kangxi, but in reality, while it was a flattering compliment, it was also a true reflection of the situation.

When she got up and did not see Emperor Kangxi, she dressed, washed, and ate breakfast with the help of the palace maids in Hanyuan Palace before returning home.

The concubines in the harem were watching all the commotion after Kangxi came to Yingtai! Youqing went fishing with Kangxi yesterday, and called for water so late at night that many people couldn't help but tear off their handkerchiefs and curse.

At Consort Hui's place, she held the eldest prince in her arms, listening to the servants below talk about Youqing. Of course, they didn't mention what happened that night, since the child was still alive.

She showed no emotion on her face. She had miscarried a child in her early years, and she was already content to have been able to keep the eldest prince. Long before Youqing was favored, Kangxi and she had already stopped having a physical relationship. If it wasn't Youqing, it would have been someone else. She was open-minded about this.

She even thought that Youqing would be better, at least she didn't have children.

Compared to Youqing, she was more afraid that Consort Yi and Consort De, who had sons, would be favored. They were still relatively young in their positions as consorts and were still very attractive.

After the nanny finished speaking, she saw that Consort Hui was calm and not surprised. However, the eldest prince, who was standing to the side, said with some indignation, "Mother, I heard that Consort Shu is keeping Father Emperor away from coming to Mother's place. Is that true?"

Consort Hui was startled upon hearing this: "Who told you that?"

Seeing his mother's strong reaction, the eldest prince sensed something was wrong, but he still told the truth: "I heard from Granny Sheng, who serves me, that she was talking to a maid in private. She said that because of Consort Shu, Father has been neglecting Mother for a long time."

Granny Sheng?

Consort Hui remembered that it was a maid she had arranged to serve her son. She wasn't a particularly important person; she was only responsible for the eldest prince's daily life, such as pouring water and carrying a kettle.

She keenly sensed that something was wrong with Granny Sheng, but she would deal with the Granny Sheng's matter later. Right now, the most important thing was to prevent her son from going astray.

"Don't listen to that old woman's nonsense. Your father is wise and powerful, how could he be the kind of person who listens to only one side? As for Consort Shu, she is a decent person. Although she is favored, she is not arrogant because of it. She is usually very low-key and respectful to Mother. As for your father neglecting Mother, that is not true at all."

The eldest prince was taken aback upon hearing this, then lowered his head and said, "Your son understands."

Consort Hui smiled and said, "It's good that you know. Just remember, what your father's harem is like, who he favors is none of your business. You are a prince, and your father's first child to grow up. Your father will not mistreat you. I'm telling you this so that you know not to meddle too much in the affairs of the harem. These are things that I need to worry about. Just follow your master and study hard and practice martial arts. Remember that?"
