Chapter 12: Anger

Chapter 12: Anger

Zheng Ruyu strode angrily towards the house guarded by the two guards. The expression on his face was as if he wanted to eat someone. He was extremely ferocious.

I just heard Xier come back and report that the guards at the gate didn't give her, the queen, any respect at all. They were very arrogant and even used the prince to pressure her, saying that only with the prince's order could she take people away.

Zheng Ruyu was already full of anger and had no place to vent it. When she heard that even two small guards dared to look down on her, she could no longer sit still. She didn't even eat and rushed over with her men.

"Your Majesty has misunderstood. I have no intention of looking down on you. It's just that the prince has ordered that no one is allowed to take people away without permission. Please forgive me, Your Majesty!" One of the guards saw that it was Concubine Zheng who came in person, so his attitude naturally changed a lot, but he still insisted on doing his job.

Concubine Zheng usually acts arrogantly behind the prince's back. Since Xiao Mingzheng has not yet married a wife, Zheng Ruyu has become the highest-ranking female member of the palace. In addition, her father and brother are both among the most capable generals in Xiao Mingzheng's army, so she is even more arrogant.

Everyone in the palace had witnessed Zheng Ruyu's power, and therefore secretly disliked her, but in front of her, they could do nothing about it. This guard was just like that. Seeing Concubine Zheng coming so aggressively over such a trivial matter, he already regretted his earlier harsh words. At the very least, if he said it in a nice way, the maid who delivered the message wouldn't exaggerate and put all the blame on him.

But it seemed too late. Just as the guard finished speaking, he heard two crisp slaps on his face. Five red handprints appeared on his left and right, looking particularly hideous.

"You idiot, do you think I'm a three-year-old child? Don't think I don't know that none of you take me seriously in private, right?" Zheng Ruyu felt very relieved after being beaten, and she didn't care about status at all. Anyway, King Mu was not here, so she naturally had no scruples.

"Your Majesty, please calm down. I truly wouldn't have entertained such thoughts." The two guards immediately knelt. The one who had been beaten, not caring about the pain on his face, said hastily, "I deserve to die for causing Your Majesty such wrath. However, I truly have no intention of disrespect. Please understand!"

"In that case, why don't you open the door quickly? I will take the person away myself!" Zheng Ruyu looked arrogant. Today she really couldn't believe that a small guard dared to block her way.

What's more, the person inside is just a lowly maid, not a noble person. Is it worth offending her for such a thing?

But what she didn't expect was that the guard who had been beaten still didn't give in. He just said with a troubled look on his face: "Your Majesty, please be kind and don't make things difficult for me. The prince's military orders are as firm as a mountain. If I take the person away from you without permission, I will be beheaded!"

"Behead? If you dare to stop me again, believe it or not, I will chop off your head right now!" Zheng Ruyu said as she raised her foot and kicked the guard to the ground in hatred.

She was so angry that she couldn't believe she'd run into such a clueless person who dared to stop her again and again. She cursed, "Don't think I don't know. The prince has been in the military camp since last night and hasn't returned to the palace. You dare to use the prince's name to stop me? What are you thinking?"

"Your Highness, I truly did not lie. The people who escorted us last night said it themselves. The prince has issued an order that this maidservant be held captive for suspected crimes. She must be kept under guard and not allowed to escape." The guard quickly explained, "Even if I had the guts to do it, I wouldn't dare to falsely convey the prince's order!"

"Escort?" Zheng Ruyu's anger instantly subsided upon hearing the word. She murmured the word again, as if thinking of something. After a moment, she calmed down a bit and asked the kneeling guard, "Did the prince really say that?"

"I cannot confirm the prince's exact words, but the meaning is absolutely correct. Even if I had a hundred guts, I would not dare to tell such a lie." The guard nodded repeatedly with a look of certainty.

After hearing this, Zheng Ruyu's beautiful eyes turned and a smile appeared on her face, which made her already beautiful face even more charming.

"Okay, stand up and answer." She raised her hand, signaling the two kneeling guards to stand up, and her tone was much softer than before.

Seeing this, the two guards hurriedly thanked him and then stood up.

"Since that's the case, I'm not unreasonable. I won't take this person with me. However, this maidservant used to serve me, so I'd like to go in and ask her a few questions first." Zheng Ruyu glanced at the two people and said with a smile, "The prince only said that no one can be brought in, but he didn't say that no one can be brought in. As the queen, I can go in and ask her a few questions, right?"

"This..." The guard who was beaten obviously still felt a little uncomfortable when he heard it, but what Concubine Zheng said was not wrong. If he didn't agree, I'm afraid that with the master's temper, he might really get rid of him immediately.

Thinking of this, he quickly changed his words and said, "Thank you for your understanding, Your Majesty. I will open the door for you right away."

Having said that, he quickly turned around and pushed the door open, inviting Zheng Ruyu in. Zheng Ruyu smiled triumphantly upon seeing this, and then walked straight into the room with Xier and another old nanny who was about fifty years old.

Zhong Min had heard all of this clearly from inside the house, and she couldn't help but look at Concubine Zheng with renewed respect. Such a tyrannical, violent, and unreasonable woman was truly unbearable. Furthermore, for some unknown reason, she had inexplicably disliked her and held a particular hatred for her. She had threatened in the carriage that she would teach her a lesson upon her return, and now it seemed her words were true, and her speed was truly astonishing.

This time, it was like a capsize in the gutter! When Zhong Min saw Zheng Ruyu's intrusive move, the bad premonition in her heart had already dissipated completely. She didn't know how this woman would deal with her now.

Zheng Ruyu sat down on the chair in front of Zhong Min and stared at Zhong Min with a gloomy face. Xier and the nanny stood on the left and right behind her. Xier's expression was normal and it was hard to tell whether she was happy or angry. However, the nanny looked like she had a huge hatred for Zhong Min.

A blessing is not a curse, and a curse is inevitable. Seeing this, Zhong Min simply stopped thinking about it and said to Zheng Ruyu calmly, "My Lady, you're back?"

"Of course I have to come back. Are you really hoping I won't come back?" Zheng Ruyu cursed, "I really misjudged you. I didn't expect to have such an ungrateful person by my side!"
