Chapter 3 The Emperor Is Not a Good Man
Introduction: She was originally a confused and ordinary little palace maid. Her biggest wish was to do her job honestly and leave the palace safely. However, she did not expect that she would accidentally pick up a top-notch prince and accidentally offend the cold-faced emperor.
Being loved by someone is a good thing, but being loved by several people at the same time is a problem. What? Isn't this the biggest problem? What is it?
The biggest trouble is that it took me a long time to realize that each of them had ulterior motives!
Alas! My heart is broken, and I have suffered a lot, but I still have to stand up again in the end. Thousands of words can be summed up in one sentence: be careful when entering the palace to be a concubine - the emperor is not a good man!

"I won't go! Why should I go?" Xia Xiner's sharp voice rang out from inside the house, instantly echoing throughout the entire yard: "Why don't you let her go? I am your biological daughter! But you are pushing your own daughter into that fire pit for her!"
"Little ancestor, please keep your voice down. Don't let your sister hear it!" Li hurriedly grabbed Xia Xiner and persuaded her in a low voice.
"I just want her to hear it! Why does she get all the good things and I have to bear all the bad things! From childhood to adulthood, you have always been on her side. Our family is not a wealthy family, but you still want her to learn to read and write, and learn piano, chess, calligraphy and painting. These are all fine, who told me not to learn those things? I admit it myself! But now, when you enter the palace to be a maid, you think of me! Why is my life so miserable!" Xia Xiner's voice became louder, and she even deliberately turned her head towards the door.
She just couldn't understand why her mother treated a found child like a treasure, while treating her like a piece of trash. What kind of place was that palace? They'd eat people without leaving even a sliver of them. She'd be in there for at least ten years. Even if she was lucky enough to get out safely, she'd be old and faded by then. She wouldn't even be wanted as a stepmother, let alone a good family! Her life would be truly ruined.
The door suddenly creaked open and a pretty girl walked in. Her facial features were lively, especially her beautiful eyes that were as bright as stars, making it impossible to look away.
"Mom, let Luo'er go!" Her beautiful eyes flickered, and she didn't show any reluctance: "I'm the older sister, so no matter what, I should be the one going!"
When she had found Luo'er, she was still in her cradle, and her resounding cries seemed to still ring in her ears. Li glanced at the now graceful Luo'er, then at the aggrieved Xin'er beside her, and felt a little embarrassed.
"Mom, please don't be embarrassed. Luo'er knows that you love me and can't bear to leave me. I know all about how good you are to me." Xia Luo'er pulled Li's hand coquettishly, wanting her to make up her mind quickly.
Xia Xin'er, standing by, suddenly felt very awkward. Although she had just scolded her fiercely, and it sounded as if she and her sister had some kind of big grudge, she actually liked her sister very much. Although they were not biological sisters, they had always had a good relationship since they were young.
Then she thought about how her sister had always been so kind to her, always giving her first the delicious, beautiful, and fun things. She felt bad when something happened to her. But just now, when she thought about how she was the one who had to go to the palace to be a maid, she couldn't help but feel wronged. Seeing her sister take the initiative to ask to go to the palace, she felt both relieved and ashamed: "Sister, I don't really want you to suffer in that kind of place, but..."
"Xin'er, I understand. I don't blame you." Xia Luo'er gently held her hand and comforted her, "Actually, there's nothing wrong with serving in the palace. I don't want to get married so early anyway. You don't have to go, and I don't have to get married so early. What's wrong with it? Besides, serving in the palace will also bring you a monthly salary. As long as you do your job well, you can come back and reunite with you when the time comes."
"Sister, thank you!" Xia Xiner's nose felt sore and tears couldn't help but fall.
"Silly girl, why thank me? You won't be pretty if you cry anymore!" Xia Luoer gently touched her forehead with her fingertips, and then carefully helped her wipe away the tears on her face.
"Xin'er, please go out for a moment. Mother has something to talk to your sister alone." Mrs. Li suddenly spoke, interrupting their intimacy.
Xia Xiner was reluctant at first, but when she saw her mother's serious look, she had to walk out reluctantly.
Li closed the door and took out a yellowed package from the innermost layer of the cabinet: "Luo'er, this is what I brought back with you when I found you."
She slowly opened the package, revealing several small garments within. Though a bit yellowish in color, they were exquisitely crafted. Atop the garments sat a cross-shaped jade pendant. The jade was a luscious emerald green, translucent and crystal clear, evidently worth a fortune. "I originally had some valuable jewelry, but I pawned them all to get you a husband. This jade pendant was the only one you wore. It's also unusual in appearance, so it's definitely not an ordinary piece of jewelry. So, even though I was desperate for money, I didn't dare sell it."
She picked up the jade pendant and carefully put it on Luo'er, then said lovingly, "Luo'er, you must keep this jade pendant. In my opinion, your biological parents must not be ordinary people. They must have had some unavoidable reasons for abandoning you. Keep it well, maybe you will meet again one day."
Luo'er caressed the jade pendant against her chest through her clothes, a slight pang of sadness welling up in her heart. For the past sixteen years, even though her mother had treated her like her own daughter, she'd always been haunted by thoughts of those two people she'd never met. She'd constantly imagine their appearances in her mind, constantly wondering why they'd left her.
Seeing that she didn't say anything, Li said again: "After entering the palace, you must take good care of yourself and be careful in everything! Mother is waiting for you to come back!" When she said this, her voice seemed a little choked, and tears welled up in the corners of her eyes.
Xia Luoer walked up to her and knelt down: "Mom, thank you for raising me for so many years. I am unfilial and cannot take care of you. You must take care of yourself!" After saying that, he kowtowed to her three times solemnly.
The vermilion palace gates slowly closed, their heavy creaking sound separating the palace from the outside world and swallowing up the youth of these young girls. "Once you enter the palace, it's as deep as the sea; even a swallow with white hair may never return." Xia Luo'er couldn't help but feel melancholy. Within the high walls, every five steps there was a building, every ten steps a pavilion, winding corridors and high eaves, endless prosperity and indescribable wealth.
