"Father, what do we do now?" Cao Xiaosi's voice trembled as he spoke.
He was weak from birth, and although he could learn martial arts, his skills were really nothing to brag about.
Given that he was already exhausted from running around, sending him to rescue people from the beast's lair would be tantamount to sending him to his death.
Cao Jinchang did not answer.
After a long silence, Cao Jinchang gritted his teeth and said, "If we hadn't come, then we wouldn't have known, and ignorance is no excuse; but since we're here, if we leave now, it would be abandoning someone in distress, which violates the code of the martial world!"
“But…” Cao Xiaosi looked distressed, almost in tears: “Father, there are so many ferocious beasts! Even if we risked our entire canal gang, it wouldn’t be enough, let alone with just the two of us. How can we save them?”
"Stop crying! To stand by and watch someone die is no better than to be a pig or a dog! We have to make it work!" Cao Jinchang rarely spoke seriously. He scolded Cao Xiaosi in a low voice and said, "Here's what we'll do. I'll be responsible for drawing away these ferocious beasts. After they leave, you take the opportunity to sneak in and rescue them."
"Father!" Cao Xiaosi cried out anxiously.
There are at least one or two thousand ferocious beasts below.
His father is all alone; what's the difference between this and sending him to his death?
"Stop talking. I've told you before, a real man has things he will do and things he won't do." Cao Jinchang pursed his lips tightly, his eyes slightly red. "Your two older sisters weren't blessed, but they didn't mind the bad luck and were still willing to give you two sisters titles. That's righteousness. We can't be heartless when others are righteous. Even if we can't save them by giving our lives in the end, at least when we go to the underworld and meet them, we won't be in the wrong."
Cao Xiaosi knew that although his father usually tried to smooth things over, when it came to crucial moments, no one could dissuade him from making decisions.
Furthermore, Cao Xiaosi could sense that his brother-in-law and his group had left behind a vibrant life force, without a trace of death.
Perhaps there are other possibilities?
Maybe, as he thought, they really could command these wild beasts?
His father's decision was truly a gamble on an unparalleled treasure!
Cao Xiaosi considered himself an ordinary person; no matter how righteous the matter, he still needed to find some practical reasons to convince himself.
He suppressed his fear and stopped Cao Jinchang.
Cao Jinchang took out three bottles of wound medicine from his sleeve and stuffed them into Cao Xiaosi's hand, saying, "This is the best wound medicine in our Cao Gang. They might be able to use it. After you find them, don't rush to escape. Find a secluded place to hide first, and then think of a way to escape once you are sure it is safe."
"Father, what about you?" Cao Xiaosi asked, his eyes also slightly red.
Cao Jinchang laughed heartily, a hint of chivalry shining through his round, chubby face: "I'm fine, your dad is tough! I'll try my best to get out, and if I do, I'll bring people to rescue you."
Cao Xiaosi looked at the densely packed ferocious beasts: "..."
"Alright, Xiao Si," Cao Jinchang choked back tears, patted Cao Xiao Si's thin shoulder, and sniffled, "Dad, I'm leaving. Take care of yourself!"
That's all.
Cao Jinchang quietly slipped down the tree, walked far enough away from Cao Xiaosi, raised his hands and waved wildly, shouting: "Hey! You bunch of beasts, Grandpa's right here, why aren't you coming to eat your grandpa!"
The mutated beasts and monsters, exhausted from mining, lifted their eyelids slightly:
Damn!
What kind of idiot came from!
You think you're some kind of spiritual stone? What's so delicious about a body covered in rotten flesh?
The dogs all lay down on the spot, motionless.
Cao Jinchang: "???"
Cao Xiaosi: "???"
