Chapter 1999 There is no divine tomb at all.

"How could that be? The world is vast, but nothing compares to your magnanimity, Master. Mianmian must have had a fever for eight lifetimes to meet you (and especially to meet such a skilled, intelligent, and kind lady). How could Mianmian possibly want to leave?" Ghost Face shamelessly flattered, while inwardly ranting and raving:

If it weren't for the sake of the mistress, I wouldn't say nice things to you, you heartless stinking mistress! Humph!

He would never admit that he had cried for this heartless, despicable master in the illusion.

After confirming that they were alright, Xue Moqian and the others searched around the inner room again.

The walls of this inner room are all solid stone walls, so there's no way there could be any passageway.

"Could it be that everything before was just our illusion, that the legend is false, and that there is no divine tomb in your Snow Fox Clan's ancestral temple at all?" The bear demon scratched the back of its head with its large paw and said in a muffled voice.

“If there’s no Divine Tomb, then what was with our hallucinations before? There’s nothing in this inner room, yet it was able to knock all of us down without harming us in the slightest. This is very strange in itself,” Xue Moqian said, his gaze sweeping back and forth between Shang Xiye and Xue Bingling, as if guessing which of the two of them must have undergone some kind of change.

The old fox is indeed an old fox; his mind is sharper than that of ordinary people.

Shang Xiye remained calm and made eye contact with Xue Moqian briefly, but Xue Moqian withdrew his gaze.

Xue Bingling also looked calm, though she herself didn't quite understand what had happened before and what was happening now.

The group searched the ancestral temple again, inside and out, almost digging three feet into the ground, but still found nothing.

They had no choice but to retreat the way they came, returning dejectedly to the Snow Fox Clan's territory.

Upon seeing them return, the Snow Fox Clan members greeted them with great anticipation.

"Father, sister, you're back!" Xue Bingsi ran ahead with a big smile, but when she saw everyone's dejected looks, her smile gradually froze: "What happened to you? Did you find the Heart of Godslayer?"

"What god-slaying heart? There's no god's tomb in your ancestral temple. It's just two dilapidated mud and wood houses," the tiger demon roared.

The Snow Fox Clan members' expressions all changed drastically.

Throughout history, the ancestral temple has been the most sacred and mysterious place in the hearts of their people, a place where their spirits are anchored.

Now, when they are told that the place they consider sacred is nothing more than two ordinary, dilapidated houses, their worldview and beliefs collapse instantly. They are left bewildered and blank, unsure of what to do, and completely panicked.

"What can we do? Without the will to slay gods, without the protection of the gods, and with the demon army pressing in, aren't we doomed?"

"Yes, we have nowhere to run!"

"Is this the will of Heaven to destroy our demon beast race?!"

"Before the demon army arrives, I'll feed the children to their hearts' content, and then the whole family will commit suicide together. At least we can earn a second life!"

"Yes, ending our own lives is the best outcome for us. It's better than being devoured alive by the monsters and reduced to ashes!"

"My little ones haven't even had a chance to transform into human form yet. They were born at the wrong time, sob sob sob..."

As they talked, their various expressions of panic eventually turned into a unified chorus of sobs.

Even the most ferocious and irritable demons, such as the wolf demon, bear demon, and tiger demon, silently lowered their heads.
