Chapter 933 No More Staying in the Doghouse

Ji Fengyao couldn't stand the Empress Dowager's clingy attitude any longer, so she finally gave her a dose of sleeping powder and sent her to sleep.

Unfortunately, before leaving, the old woman instructed people to treat her well and to invite her to stay for dinner.

No matter what, this old woman is still the Empress Dowager of the country, and her words still carry weight in front of outsiders.

Bored out of her mind, Ji Fengyao could only play the playing cards she had made herself with her three maids in her room.

The four, master and servants, were having a great time.

Suddenly, Ji Fengyao felt the communication jade slip in her arms vibrate.

Upon closer inspection, it revealed two small red dots representing Shang Xiye and Wuying, indicating they had arrived nearby.

The magpie peeked over and said happily, "The son-in-law and Brother Wuying have come to pick us up. We finally don't have to stay in this old hag's doghouse anymore. We can go back to the mansion."

Bai Lu: "..."

Lin Shuang: "..."

The only people who could compare the Empress Dowager's Cining Palace to a doghouse are probably Xi Que and the Princess!

To be able to enter the Empress Dowager's Cixi Palace and the Empress's Qiwu Palace is the ultimate dream of all women in the world!

"Hey, why aren't the Prince and the Shadowless Guard moving?" Bai Lu also peeked over to look.

At this moment, Ji Fengyao felt the communication jade slip vibrate slightly again, so she quickly put two fingers together and channeled a stream of spiritual energy into it.

Suddenly, a faint voice came from the jade slip:

"When Aunt Jian, who served the Empress Dowager, died of a serious illness, I was transferred to serve the Empress Dowager. But I know that Aunt Jian did not die of a serious illness; the Empress Dowager silenced her."

Therefore, I was careful and, from the very beginning of my service to the Empress Dowager, I tried my best to preserve evidence of every single thing she instructed me to do.

"Where is that evidence?" Shang Xiye's icy voice came from the jade slip.

When Ji Fengyao heard this, she lifted her eyelids and glanced at the three maids.

"Your Highness, you must be thirsty after playing all day. I'll go boil some water for you to make tea." Bai Lu understood and got up with a carefree smile.

The magpie waited with curiosity for Aunt Sun to continue.

Lin Shuang slightly bent the fingers resting on her knees, slowly stood up, and said, "Bai Lu is so impulsive, I'll go help her."

Xi Que looked up and saw Ji Fengyao watching Lin Shuang leave, and asked curiously, "Miss, what's wrong?"

"Oh, it's nothing," Ji Fengyao smiled and shook her head, raising her hand to support her chin, her fingertips lightly tapping against the corner of her lips, as she and Xi Que continued to listen to what Aunt Sun was saying from the jade slip.

Lin Shuang glanced back at Ji Fengyao and Xi Que: they were standing very close, their intimacy immediately apparent.

The magpie's facial expressions, as always, were dramatic and exaggerated.

Perhaps sensing Lin Shuang's gaze, Xi Que turned her head and glanced at her blankly.

Lin Shuang subconsciously forced a slightly bitter smile, then turned around and went to Bai Lu's side in the outer room.

"Sister Lin Shuang, what's wrong?" Bai Lu asked, noticing that Lin Shuang seemed a little unhappy.

"It's nothing, I'm just a little envious. The Princess and Miss Xique have such a good relationship," Lin Shuang said gently as she lowered her head to arrange the teacups.

"The Princess and Sister Xique grew up together since they were little, so their relationship is definitely deeper than others. There's nothing wrong with that." Bai Lu was innocent and straightforward. Seeing that Lin Shuang was still unhappy, she asked again, "Sister Lin Shuang, are you unhappy because the Princess didn't let us listen to Aunt Sun, but instead let Sister Xique listen to her?"

A hint of panic flashed across Lin Shuang's eyes, and she quickly said, "No, Your Highness is the mistress. Of course, we servants shouldn't know too much about the mistress's secrets."
