Chapter Fifty-Seven: Endure, Endure, and Endure Again

The next night, Shang Xi woke up to find the sky just beginning to lighten outside the window.

Feeling the weight on him, he looked down and saw the little bandit girl with one hand and one leg draped over him, her little face nestled in his neck, sleeping soundly.

From his angle, her two rows of tiny, brush-like eyelashes looked incredibly long, thick and curled. Her delicate, fair nose was adorable, and her chubby little face resembled a small steamed bun, making her look so soft that one wanted to reach out and pinch her cheeks.

He gently put his arm around her small shoulders, which made her nuzzle against his neck.

Like a kitten.

The soft down on her forehead seemed to tickle his heart, causing him to flutter and his body to react instantly.

It's not a normal physiological reaction, but rather...

Shang Xiye had never experienced anything like this before. Like a cat whose tail had been stepped on, she jumped up in fright and instinctively tried to slip on her shoes and get up to leave. Only when her numb feet touched the ground did she remember that she was now unable to walk properly.

Ji Fengyao, who was fast asleep, was suddenly thrown aside. Instinctively, she chased after the long-legged "pillow" that was running away. In her drowsy state, she grabbed someone's collar from behind and wrapped her arms around it, holding something in her hands.

The next second, she was thrown out and landed on the innermost side of the bed, even hitting the wall.

"ah!"

"Ji Fengyao!"

Ji Fengyao's cry of pain and the prince's furious roar rang out at the same time.

Ji Fengyao rubbed her aching head, groggily got up, and glared resentfully at the man in front of her who had inexplicably become angry, complaining, "Your Highness, I was just too tired, so I accidentally fell asleep next to you. Did you have to get so angry and throw me like that? I'm your savior, you know!"

"You!" Shang Xiye crossed her arms on her lap, enduring the humiliation and anger with all her might. After a long while, she finally shouted towards the door, "Come in!"

Ji Fengyao was baffled as she watched Shang Xiye leave in a huff (and a panic).

Holy crap, did this thing suddenly develop rabies?

It's just that I slept with her for another night. It's not like we've never slept together before. Why make it seem like I was forced into this?

With his attitude, does he still want her to give him acupuncture and save his life?

In the imperial court.

Shang Xiye sat in a wheelchair, holding the position of head among all civil and military officials.

Ji Chenhai and Ji Fengming stood formally on the Golden Palace between four rows of officials on either side, neither agreeing nor disagreeing with the emperor's proposal to bestow official titles and ranks upon them.

After the emperor finished his long speech, Ji Chenhai slowly said, "Your Majesty, my son and I are just country bumpkins who usually do dangerous business. It's not that I can't grant us official positions, but I'm afraid we won't be able to do anything and will only cause you and the other officials trouble."

"This..." The emperor choked, and had to admit that Ji Chenhai was telling the truth.

The ministers in the hall were also whispering among themselves, clearly none of them wanted the Ji family father and son to be assigned to their own branch.

"Your Majesty," Ji Chenhai glanced at the assembled officials and said with a fawning smile, "Why don't you bestow upon me the title of Marquis and give my father and me a nominal post? If that were the bestowal of your grace, my father and I could simply attend court every day, play with our birds, and collect a meager salary without having to think about returning to Vulture Village to engage in that Robin Hood-like business."

As soon as Ji Chenhai finished speaking, the court erupted in chaos.

"If one is neither a member of the royal family nor of noble birth, and has no military achievements or merits, how can one be granted a title of nobility!"

"If word gets out that a mere bandit has been granted amnesty and made a noble title, wouldn't people laugh their heads off?"

"This won't do!"

The Emperor looked at the ministers who were discussing amongst themselves in the hall, while the Ninth Prince in his wheelchair had an unusually unusual expression. He seemed to be ignoring what was happening in the hall, and a hint of pleasure flashed in his eyes as he asked indifferently, "What does Prince Su think?"
